  1. Although the people in this thread aren't touching on it much, I am going to point at the OP's jab at the jedi player characters. I got to agree, unless you are going dark side, the Jedi lines are all boring and snooze festy. Their lines are bland and the delivery of them are even more bland.
  2. Actually, yes, emergency med pac does transform the face of sawbones healing. I very use kolto pack after getting it and have found that I hardly run out of energy using it anymore. I don't understand why people would want to use kolto pack once you get emergency medpac. Sure, it heals more but the instant cast time and no cost make it amazing.
  3. Um, yeah, since you don't seem to know what you are talking about, Everquest 2 has two factions opposing each other just like WoW.....just like TOR. Sooooo yeah. TOR isn't really built for RP though because it is based heavily around WoW. It is a WoW clone. I enjoy the game but that's just the way it is. With the exception of /say crossfaction, I wou But anyway, I AT THE LEAST want customizable emotes and /yell available for the opposite faction. When you have to use /say for....well...everything, all the chat starts to blur together and it's super easy to miss things. More chat options could be an alternative where we could change the color of someone's text.ld say TOR is more limiting to RP than WoW is.
  4. I like /say the way it is. Sure, people who sit in cantinas all the time might not like it. But for some of the smaller cantinas, it won't matter how small they make /say, you'll still hear them. If I am standing on one opposite side of the Slippery Slopes cantina then I cannot hear what is being said on the other side. It stops part way down to where I cannot hear people. The large /say range is good for people who enjoy RPing OUTSIDE of cantinas in a world terrain. In an open environment with less noise, I do believe hear better. It ensures that I can RP while running or walking or even fighting. You can hear everything said on Fury because the ships are small and they cannot possibly take the dynamic of there being several rooms into account.
  5. Pick whichever one you think will be more fun. Do you want long range dps? Or do you want melee with stealth and other utilities? I'm a Scoundrel so I'll give you my side of the story to match the gunslinger's above. I find that stealthing is a godsend and am sad that I can't do it on my alts. For people like me who tend to over level their characters versus the planet they are on, it's nice to avoid mobs that I don't have to kill so I can reach the objective faster. And if a fight gets too hard I can vanish instead of dying. Scrapper does some nice burst dps, don't know how it compares to Gunslinger though. I enjoy the rough and tumble brawler feel along with shotguns. You don't need to be a healer to appreciate the heals Scoundrels get. You won't get a healing companion until very late in the game. So, they can be useful in a pinch where you won't have a healer for the majority of your game time. If you're doing solo play and go Gunslinger, might want to go Biochem because like I said....you're going to spend most of your time without a healing companion.
  6. If you don't find it to be a big deal, why are you arguing about it? What he is like in the rest of the movie doesn't change the fact that these cantina scenes are character establishing moments for Han Solo. And the scene still says something about a person through actions that can't be conveyed in words. I honestly can't think of anywhere else in the movie where it is more established that he is a seedy guy than this here scene. The important thing about a story, and this story in this case. Is that with character development, it's better to see Han Solo as selfish and only out for himself at the start. But even by the end of Episode IV we know that he has a good heart. There is a progression, a flow in the character that establishes him as.....not static, and that is why a scene where the character is clearly established from the start is important as opposed to be told through dialogue later on "Oh yeah, did I tell you I only care about myself?" Actions speak louder than words. In this scene, we are SHOWN that Han Solo might not be much of a good guy because he's the one who shoots first. (As someone mentioned earlier, this gives him more of a chaotic neutral edge) Then his actions speak AGAIN when at the end of the movie he brings Millennium Falcon into the last fight. Oh, and I believe I mentioned it's hilariously unbelievable that Greedo would miss when he's sitting within three feet in front of him? So it doesn't come down to just character building, but to making your story look organic as well.
  7. Also this, pretty much. Probably the best written post in this whole thread and the number 1 reason why anyone should care about Han shooting first.
  8. The reason why it matters is because, like someone else said earlier on, it changes Han Solo's character. If you don't see how that changes it then I don't know what to say. It's the little things that give personality too, their actions and such, not just their dialogue. It was a character building scene, particularly because this is the first time you really see anything of Han Solo. Plus, another reason why it matters to me, is because it's hard for me to believe that Greedo was only like...3 feet away from Han and IN FRONT of him no less and still managed to miss. It's a serious stretch of disbelief for me to the point where it's sloppy and overly cheesy.
  9. Ah, I understand now. Well, yeah, just because another person RPs the same way I say is good doesn't mean the player using that style is going to do it good. We're treading into what-if territory here. The pros and cons have already been discussed for being silent and stealthing so this comes down to an individual RPer. Don't assume that everyone is like that or even most people. I usually RP my character as only being able to hear people she can look at. But that's really only a TOR issue. On WoW, where I actively stealth RPed, the /say range was much smaller. I'm sorry that you feel insulted but I don't feel like you should have to rely on OOC all the time to make RP happen. If it bothers you why don't YOU be the one to initiate a conversation to talk about the spying in waiting for someone else to do it? Or you can stay feeling slighted. But I can assure you that is no one's intent. Stealth eavesdropping is so rare in RP that I am surprised this is even an issue. At least for me it is.
  10. I think the Clone Wars could be beneficial for an RPer in the sense that it will help me get a better grasp on the world. Aside from history and events, the 3000 year difference doesn't seem that big a deal. As I have played the KOTOR games and watched the original movies and they seemed pretty similar, despite taking place in different areas of the timeline. I'm sure it would be more helpful to read the things referenced then. Maybe I will read the comics though...
  11. How much do the KOTOR comics and tie-in novels pull things from the kotor games? I wouldn't be interested in books like Revan because I'm not a fan of taking main characters that I was supposed to RP and turn them into someone else by making them canonical characters that I certainly don't care about. In other words, if they don't have Revan or Exile in them then they sound good.
  12. I like the giggle. It's funny when I get into a group and someone asks "Why is she laughing?!" And it lets me know when UH is up...and stuff.
  13. On this forum I've been hearing good things about this series and since I am trying to RP in the SW universe with little to no EU knowledge, I would like to try to expand out into these, especially since I don't feel like hopping into books yet. The thing is, where am I supposed to start? There is the series itself but there is also the movie that came before the series that was like a pilot for the show. Do I start there? What about the cartoon series of the same name that looks a lot like Samurai Jack? Are those good too?
  14. I'm not sure if I would call it sandbox but it is something that I would expect to see on msn. MSN is a place where there is no visible world. You can create whatever you want with it but is also more private. The main draw, of using mmo style RP, I would think, is the possibility of more immersive, slightly less story based RP that circles around existing in a world that, depending on your server, feels more like a world with lots of different factors.
