  1. Personally I use my orange gear with PvE armoring and rip the mods and enhancements out of my pvp gear when I get duplicates/more commendations than I can spend. I happily sacrifice a little armor for more endurance and main stat.
  2. You should be fine as long as you've replaced your armorings, mods, and enhancements in your orange gear with the daily rewards. I started tanking BT hard mode the day I turned 50 with no trouble. If you cc a little and your group is smart, you shouldn't have any issues.
  3. I don't know though that it was really my choice as much as is it was just a natural affinity. When I began playing MMO's, I wanted to be a tank. I liked the sound of it. I was pretty good at it from the standpoint my friends and I cleared current content without too much trouble. However, after a while, I made a dps toon to break things up. It just so happened I was pretty good at it... or so I thought. When I finally went into a raid (operation in swtor), I actually got to see what I could do versus people I knew to be pretty good. I blew them out of the water. For whatever reason, dps just seems to click with me better. Of course, I have mulitple characters and actually do still tank. I just have more fun as a dps assuming there are competitent tanks. When I can't find a competitent tank, I jump to the tank toon and go handle my business .
  4. My 2 cents... I have a 50 Vengeance Jugg, 50 Deception Assassin (he's tankasin atm, but I mostly rolled Deception), and a weird hybrid Sorc. Is a Vengernaut viable... absolutely. Can he burst like an Assassin... not really. Does he have the tool kit of a Sorc... not really. Does he offer the group buffs of a Mara... not really. However, they certainly have their niche in that they can off tank quite effectively. My opinion is that a Vengernaut in all Tionese for example doesn't put out what a Mara in all Tionese does. However, as everyone gets more gear, it feels like that get closer together. i.e. a Vengernaut in all Rakata is very similar to anything else I've seen at that gear level.
  5. I dont' heal in MMO's... never have... never will... it's just not my thing. However, a guildie has an Op, Sorc, and Merc. He prefers his Sorc to the other two. He says his Sorc makes it easier to dps, cc, keep heals on the group, etc. while also keeping the tank in a good spot. From his standpoing he likes Sorc the best because he gets to do more... but he really likes hitting buttons constantly, so that doesn't surprise me.
  6. Definitely too many time syncs when it comes to travel and questing in general... crafting is the same way... purposefully gating it based on companions so you can't efficiently just have a low level crafting toon. You can... don't get me wrong... it just takes forever because you don't have enough companions to send and they only have room for five items at a time. It would be nice to say, "Hey, Khem Val, that storage locker is full of crystals, fragments, and binding agents. Do me a favor and create these bracers until they become too easy for you. Then switch to these belts. When you run out of materials, holler at me and we'll go get more." As to the OP... yes, I got way more involved in my sith warrior storyline than anything else. I would level just enough to make the next planet bearable, get there and do my entire class quest chain, figure out where I had to go next and what level I should be, then do enough quests on the current planet to get to that point so I could just go continue my class quest.
  7. I would assume you want crit/surge until you get around 30% crit and 70% surge.
  8. I have both... it's hard to say. Overall, the sorcerer struck me as easier overall because you have a pretty large toolset fairly early. The assassin was nice because you can always vanish if you screw up or bite off more than you can chew. If you want an easier route, I think sorcerer is the choice. Assassin is a little harder, but I found the challenge a good thing... even though I have both and a 50 juggernaut, the Assassin is my "main" as it were.
  9. Just my 2 cents... I have a 50 Juggernaut, Assassin, and Sorcerer (Guardian, Shadow, and Sage for you Republic side players). I will admit the level to which I can stop someone from moving or going where I do not want them to on my Sorcerer is boarderline ridiculous... my juggernaut and assassin have no such control. However, my juggernaut handles this better than my assassin, but only because he is vengeance and has unstoppable (or whatever it is called) and can force charge, force push, force charge to eat up a ton of real estate while being stun/root/slow immune for around 6 seconds.
  10. My build (I use it for pvp and pve) is very similar... I have 2 more points in the Vengeance tree. I run in Shien b/c Impale and Force Scream both eat rage. I didn't take the free chilling scream talent b/c I already have plenty of rage being in Shien all the time. I'm not saying my spec is better... to be honest, I've never even spec'd full rage or full vengenace. However, even in my daily commendation modded and armored orange gear with a whopping 4 pieces of pvp gear (yeah, I've been 50 for about a week), I'm getting the destroyer medal about half the time unless we are just being roflstomped. I'm always above 250k and average 9-10 medals per game. (yes, I think it is virtually impossible for a Jugg to get the 5k in a single hit medal unless they are full rage and using adrenal'd smashes). The spec feels good to me... I like the playstyle... I may make it work more than it really works on its own because I'm very comfortable with it. However, I guarantee it is at least viable... not best, but it works fine for me.
  11. As noted above, everything bug chest and head is what the juggernaut pve tier armor looks like... the head is what the marauder pve tier set looks like (medium armor)... I have no idea if that exact chest exists... mara and jugger chest has those weird blade/stoarage tank things on them.
  12. At level 36 I think I've seen 2 total so far, and neither was customizable.
  13. I'm not well versed at the assassin, but I've played it to level 36 very smoothly over the course of two weeks. Unfortunatley, my next highest character is only 14 (sorc), so I really can't make any comparisons for you. I have enjoyed my assassin thus far and leveled to 21 as deception. At that point I respec'd darkness and have stayed with it ever since. I have had very few problems in PvE. I do die from time to time... usually when I do something stupid, but I've never needed any help finishing a quest. I've even solo'd a few of the heroic 2 quests. The playstyle was a little monotonous in the beginning, but I'm sure all characters are that way. Now that my abilities list is beginning to stack up, I did have to key bind my third bar. Many abilities are very situational, but I like being the 'jack or all trades' type. The playstyle seems to be becoming a little more immersive as well. PvP wise, I am enjoying my time doing that as well. I don't spend much time at it, but I just made it to rank 11 I think. I didn't feel like I was contributing to the game much until my mid-20's, but even in my low-30's I'm breaking 100k damage in most huttball games and earning 6-9 medals a game (being able to guard someone to get the guard/absorb damage medals adds to the points and xp you receive I believe). At 36 I feel like I'm contributing much more to the team and holding my own. If nothing else, the best reason I can give to roll an assassin is still my original reason when I created mine... I can recreate and play Darth frickin' Maul... who wouldn't want to do that?!?!
