Are there vendors that I buy the gifts at, or are they things I can get from quests? Also, I'm not sure if you know but what stats should the armor I give to Vette be? Mainly endurance and cunning?

I've chosen to have my character be in the dark alignment, but it seems like it's going to be impossible for me to have both a dark alignment and good relationship with my companion. Is it even possible? I'm new, and just got her, so I don't really know yet. I pick what I can when there's no light/dark alignment set for the answer to try and make Vette happy, but then when I pick an alignment answer later in a quest it seems like I lose all the affection I had just earned for her. :/ Can't I have both thing I want? Hahah. Her affection is currently at a pretty sad 216.
