  1. Thanks for catching my typo. Post has been edited to correct. As for proving my point, what did I miss? The argument, as I understand it, is that Corso's good ol' boy chivalry automatically translates to him thinking women should be the wallflower barefoot-and-pregnant-in-the kitchen stereotype. I chose that quote because I think it proves that he does not expect that of a woman and would in fact prefer a stronger woman. Do I misunderstand the argument? (Forgive me, but this discussion is totally bringing out my crazy English major character analysis side...I just can't help myself!)
  2. I think perhaps some people on this thread are under thinking this a bit (or maybe I am over-thinking it), but if you look at Corso's back-story his super-protector-white-knight persona is kinda understandable. You find out as you go along in his story that the majority of the individuals he has cared for have all been killed or abandoned him. Add that with an individual that's naturally loyal and boom!--massive guardian complex! As for him being sexist...well...I take issues with that, too. Not that you don't have valid points (because you do), its just that I disagree with the assumption that just because I am a capable modern can-take-care-of-myself female that that means that I don't want someone to take care of me. Just because I can take care of myself doesn't mean I want to all of the time. As a closing thought, I will post Corso's definition of "lady" for you to mull over... Sorry, I just can't look at that and see chauvinist pig. Doesn't work.
  3. I'm voting for this. I think its a sign of pretty amazing writing/character development to write someone that makes people respond sooooo strongly. This is my first BioWare game and I have been super impressed by the writing. I loved Corso right off the bat. Ten levels into the weekend warrior beta and I was hooked. I knew exactly what class I was going to roll first. (Sexy companion romance option PLUS absolute rage over my missing freighter?! There was never a question after that.) Now as I work on my trooper I'm surprised I feel just as strongly about Aric Jorgan (sexy voice ftw!). Hated him when I first met him, but now, as I get to know him better, I love him to pieces. So congrats, BioWare writers...you have turned me from a closet nerd to a pixel lovin mega nerd. And I couldn't be happier.
  4. Astreaus.... I read somewhere that Asteaus was the Greek titan of stars and planets, and well, I thought it was appropriate!
  5. So I rolled a second smuggler so I could have one of each advanced class...I think I like Corso more the second time around (I didn't think it was possible, but I totally do). I blame the fact that I have been using and abusing the "Esc to exit conversation" option and trying out different responses. For example, the other day after unlocking the "Bold Declarations" conversation I found this little gem: My girl told Corso she was no lady. His response? Now can someone please find a mop? The puddle I just melted into needs to be cleaned up.
  6. HA! See I'm in the opposite camp. I HATE dreads in real life (but on Corso, they're just hot...paradox, I know) and my husband keeps threatening to grow them so I will "think he's hot like Corso." Now every time his hair is messy he says "Leave it alone! It's my dread starts!" He's such a nerd. If only I could get him to ACT like Corso instead of wanting to LOOK like Corso...life would be good.
  7. No one here said they didn't curse them under their breath every once in a while! I did it all the time before harpoon shot got fixed (Can I get a hallelujah from my fellow gunslingers?!)...seriously I just about died laughing when I saw the "Dammit, Corso!" thread cause I knew exactly what it was about and that was exactly how I felt about it.
  8. I think OP has an interesting point. Not about Corso himself necessarily (although there are plenty of people who would take that option), but about getting rid of companions you don't like. From a story perspective if you (meaning your character) are a selfish a**hat that only ever thinks of yourself, why would someone like Corso stick around? You are clearly not the type of person he would associate with so why wouldn't he bail after chapter one? Same thing goes for any other companion that disagrees with the choices your character makes. Why shouldn't you have the option to end their employment? I think that type of option plays well into BW's "your choices have real consequences" set up in the game. You elect to get rid of a companion, so you have fewer companions to use for crew skills/missions but you made that choice and get to live with the results. I kinda like the idea.
  9. Pretty much this. I keep trying to use other companions but I am so used to fighting with Corso that fighting without him just feels...weird. That and I really like running around with eye candy.
  10. Ha! And here I thought the best thing about Jorgan was the sexy voice. Although I do keep expecting him to call my trooper "Spencer."
  11. Yeah I felt the same way. "Here, let's have a huge conversation about the status of our relationship..." and then....NOTHING! Nothing for a long, long, long time. I was starting to think he had changed his mind. I do wish that BW had gated some of the conversations a little differently. Some of them would have fit in just fine before the end of Chapter 1.
  12. Funny that you mention Alderaan, cause I was running around with him just the other day on Alderaan and he told me if the war ever ended he'd like to retire there. Maybe you just can't take the farm out of the boy.
  13. Thats right...train her young! And I HATE the bug that shows that companions want to talk to you when they dont! There's nothing more disappointing than seeing a "Corso would like to speak to you aboard your ship" bubble (YAY!) then clicking on him and hearing "Don't know why you're looking at me, you're the one in charge." Dang it! A few hours/days/planets later "Corso would like to speak to you aboard your ship." WAHOOO! Click on him "Anything you want, Captain." Anything I want, Corso? Really? Anything? I want you to stop lying about when you want to talk to me, dang it!! Stop leading me on! I'm starting to get a complex...now go shoot that bad guy in the face.
  14. The earliest time I had him hit on my character was actually on Ord Mantell when he gives you Flashy (pick option 2 twice), but as far as him actually making a move I think it is around the end of the Taris missions. From my experience you "unlock" certain discussion with him as you move up in affection points, but you also have to get past certain story/mission points for them to actually show up. So I think Karinah is right...its a mix of all three. It's cause he thinks you're hot... And I'm glad its not just me being a crazy person!
  15. I've been using Flashy since I got her, too. And I would agree with you about feeling guilty...except I know he likes my girl more than he likes his guns He totally let me know when he first gave me Flashy. (I'll see if I can find that screen shot to back that up; its one of my favorite early Corso lines.) Speaking of Flashy... If I am correct than wow... just wow. And AWWWWWwwwwwwwwwwwww....
