  1. Just returned to SWTOR after playing ESO for a few years. Feels so cool to play my Trooper again... Amazing to see all the improvements and advancements SWTOR has made since I left. Specifically in things like the UI and tracking achievements and such. When I play my Trooper, I feel like I am a Trooper! The story pulls me in. I still love the style of the graphics... (timeless?) GW2 story ... blah blah blah. I just liked the super easy to learn mechanics and the way they encouraged teamwork and helping other players ESO... great story and graphics and such, but I never read any of the books and never heard of any movies. So for me, the story does not resonate. I barely pay attention, cause the main heroes and villains have no meaning to me. Mostly I just love the combat style and the endless experimenting with different builds and character development. And now, I'm back to SWTOR... After playing GW2 and then ESO I'm really missing that "active" style of combat. I want both! I want SWTOR combined with elements from ESO combat... (dreamer..) Instead of just relying on gear stats to protect/defend, you have to also block and or dodge roll. SWTOR combat feels too static or stationary (?). Like my gear makes the most difference instead of my movement and skill. Constantly watching my skill bar and cool-downs instead of watching and enjoying the combat in front of me. For me, the most perfect game: SWTOR with max 5 - 6 skills on each weapon/ hotbar and only 2 weapon/ hotbars (primary and secondary weapon) Some sort of actual block mechanic Some sort of active dodge mechanic PORT to console!!! SWTOR would be the most epic game to play together with my kids. SWTOR would be the most epic game to play together with friends ...who don;t do PC gaming for various reasons. Well, just had to say these things, since we're on pandemic lock-down and gaming is part of how I/ we escape the stress and uncertainty...
  2. 2) Using some analogy.... if you put a pile of rocks in the middle of a playground along with a random selection of children, you get very mixed results. Some kids will use the rocks constructively to build things. Some kids will use the rocks as weapons against other kids on the playground. Some kids will simply take the rocks and leave the playground just to grief the rest of the kids. Some kids will attack the playground supervisors with the rocks. The whole playground gets a bad reputation and all the kids leave, even the mean kids because they need victims more then they need rocks or a playground of their own. ...I loved this analogy (LOL) 4) to succeed, you need a full ranging sandbox experience, where the players have the authority and tools to address player misbehavior. This is why EVE works so well where other sandbox MMOs have failed. ...if one company could implement this concept correctly, then surely some other companies can also. ..and even improve upon it (?) Still, I believe in the concept. although yes, the devil is in the details (i.e. execution & implementation)
  3. Interesting, I had no idea so many other games had these features before. I would say that as the "creation tools" get better, player contributions will get exponentially better as well. This is the only way to win the developer/ player content race. ( ? ) "Creation Tools" within a game are force multipliers for the development team. If out of one million players only ten "player created flashpoints" were acceptable/ high quality and deployed ... that would still be TEN new flashpoints per year. (! ? ! ) a tremendous amount of new content. ( ?) thoughts?
  4. This is the Future of gaming... just a matter of how long until it takes hold. I absolutely love SW:TOR, but imagine if in addition to the awesome story content there was the a tool for players to design & contribute to this content. Instead of developers creating and deploying content they would give players the tools to do it. Developers would manage and polish the player contributions. An end to the developer/ player "content race". ? COPY PASTED from website to show what others are thinking/ doing. Not meant to be a promo for another game. http://nw.perfectworld.com/about/foundry You've played tabletop campaigns, sketched out dungeons and imagined ancient ruins, wishing all the while that you could make them come to life. Now, you can. The Foundry for Neverwinter lets you build and share the adventures you've always wanted to see. The Foundry gives you the tools to build dungeons, castles, cities, foreboding woods and everything in-between. Build NPCs the way you see them in your mind's eye and populate your world with tavern keepers and soldiers, Queens and scullions. Lay the groundwork for an epic adventure that takes players into the depths of the earth in search of dwarven treasure, or pits them against near impossible odds to save the city of Neverwinter. Easy to use, The Foundry also features a dynamic rating system that allows players to rate and highlight the best player-designed adventures. IMAGINE, You could design a Star Wars Flashpoint - submit it to BioWare for review- they review it, ensure quality parameters, etc.. then everyone could run through it, rate it. etc.... even your guild symbol over the entrance as a recognition/ reward for all the galaxy to see... THERE'S MORE: http://themittani.com/features/mittani-interviews-soe-ceo-john-smedley Sandbox elements - SOE is redefining itself as a creator of emergent gameplay experiences. That's our future. You can call it sandbox but it's so much more than that. A good example is Player owned bases in Planetside 2. That's coming. We're going to make huge continents that are empty and have vast resources on them and players can fight it out and put down their own bases there and other players can come and obliterate them. Sound familiar Eve Players? Actually we had something like this in Star Wars Galaxies too. THAT is content. At some point as an industry we need to realize that we have already lost the race to outpace players in making content. I personally thought SWTOR was a great game. I loved Diablo III. The problem is you get to the endgame and as game makers it's not just expensive. it's impossible to stay ahead of the curve. Think about this statement - If WoW had come out yesterday.. at what point would people be "done" with the content. We need to focus on game systems that are perpetual and give players a lot more control over what they can do rather than JUST putting yet another dragon in front of them with scripted content. We need to be doing both in order to be successful. And that's our plan. IMAGINE if developers spent majority of their time on: 1) Live world/ dynamic events 2) Managing Player submitted content Companies can buy an "ENGINE" and build a game world... what if players could buy "gold membership" which included "Flashpoint builder" or something similar? thoughts?
  5. I have only one character. Level 50 Vanguard Tank and I love playing him. It took me about 27 attempts and experiments.. before I finally discovered that this is the character best for me.. Now, I try to create new characters ...at least to have a second crafting skill, but I just don;t have the same enjoyment from the other types of classes. The Trooper is just too cool.
  6. This will affect me a lot, as I use the cryo grenade every chance I get. I typically cryo one player and then immediately storm into another, in order to distract or interrupt two people at once. Sometimes, I use it to try and save another teammate who is getting beat down., when I'm too far away to do anything else. Maybe I'll take the points out of the cooldown reduction and place them somewhere else. We'll see.
  7. I am a full Vanguard Tank. 34/7/0 I did not take the Defensive Measures or Charge abilities, instead i opted for Power Armor (2% damage reduction) in the Tactics Tree Does anybody take this charge ability? It does not make sense to me as far as being a useful ability for a tank as it is only active after storming into an enemy. I Anybody take this skill and find it very useful? worthwhile? Perhaps, I am just missing something? I would think that it make more sense to remove this ability from the tree and put in it's place something like: a 2 point ability of Resist Elemental Damage 8%, 16% similar to Rebraced Armor? Due to skill point limitations, you would have to choose between a 2% damage reduction (all types) or the 16% elemental reduction. Thank You for comments,
  8. Hey, thanks for the feedback guys. What I'm hearing is: one proc relic goes off near constantly, so having the second adds almost no benefit. Good to know. I'm full on, all the way, War Hero Supercommando Tank.. my augments are mostly +shield rating and +absorb but I like to understand what other options are out there. Off Topic: since you mentioned Stims and Adrenals: I'm thinking of dropping Cybertech and taking up Biochem. I mostly PvP but I do like PvE too (just have gotten to the high level stuff yet.). Thoughts? Thanks,
  9. yes, it does share a cooldown (with similar effects). but having two would greatly increase the odds of it "procc'ing". instead of one roll with 30% chance to hit, you would have two rolls of 30% chance to hit.. so two rolls for every attack... and hammer shot for example, each bullet is a separate attack offering you many roll chances to proc. yes, there is a maximum of once every 4.5 secs to proc, but seems like it would be a steady stream of procc'ing every few seconds. no? and being internal damage.. even better? anyways... just wondering if someone has already tried this... i know there are people that try everything.
  10. Hi, just wondering if anybody has tried using two of the relics that give +30% chance to do 184 internal damage/ can only proc once every 4.5 secs. using two of them means that with every attack, you "roll" two times - each having a 30% chance to hit. seems like this would be "procc'ing" off an awful lot. and internal damage is not resisted, correct? currently, I'm a full tank spec using tank relics but I was just curious if anyone has tried this out. always looking to try something fresh. ?
  11. I run a full on Shield Spec Tank 34/ 7/ 0 and although I mostly WZ PvP right now, I do enjoy grouping for Flashpoints and hopefully soon, Hard Mode and Operations, so I like the "balance" build. I keep reading about how "Supercharged Ion Cell" does not hit for the proper amount of damage and how under-whelming it is... So, I've been thinking about moving that point out and instead put it into either Neural Overload for the 2 second/ 50% slow every time Ion Cell is activated or else maybe into Smoke Grenade. Looking for constructive comments on this in terms of which one might be more effective and why. another questions... how many points of +defense = +1% defense? Thanks,
  12. my opinion, for PvP Tactics was awesome... but i like both PvP and PvE so I went back into full tank. since I do both, i like the full tank spec better because i really feel invincible in PvE sometimes. i never tried the assault tree spec.
  13. i'm sorry, but i'm still a bit confused on this. i have a full set of Battlemaster Trooper "Eliminator" armor (im Vanguard Trooper). a friend is gonna craft the Battlemaster Jedi Guardian "War Leader" armor with augment slots. i want to pull all of the armor/mods/enhancements out of my Trooper "Eliminator" armor set and put them into the Jedi Guardian "War Leader" armor. So, which set bonus will i get? - the Eliminator 4piece set bonus (+15% crit chance on HiB) ? - the Jedi Guardian 4piece set bonus (+5% damage when guarding another player) ? - neither ? i want to do this just to be different but, i dont want to run without at least some sort of set bonus i do not have any war hero armor... i dont like the look of the sets. thanks for the help
  14. with patch 1.3 they are supposed to add lots of armor pieces. i take this to mean pieces of sets that have been missing.. hopefully they will include this Titanium set.
  15. Questions on "Hold the Line" and killing healers Does HTL remove ALL crowd control and prevent crowd control too? or just snares? Are there tricks or special considerations on using HTL? I thought you had to activate HTL "before" someone hit you with a crowd control. and so, you really have to know when to use it. ...sick and tired of being chain- stunned-frozen-spun up in the air-snared,,, etc, etc, And about killing healers? when fighting Imperial Sith Inquisitors (electricity ppl) is there a "best" method for killing them? meaning do they have a particular weakness? or way around there defenses? Thanks, (Vanguard full BM Tank build atm)
