  1. So you're saying you should get gear at the expense of someone else, but they shouldn't do so at your expense? Sounds reasonable in 'so many ways' or on 'so many levels'... You have bad luck if you see something drop 'MULTIPLE' times, and lose the roll each time.. this is unfortunate for you. Damn those d-bags for needing against you on loot they helped you earn. Afterall, they helped you earn it! They most certainly did not earn it for some fair and unbiased, yet heartless system of group loot distribution!
  2. I am. I mentioned this early on. There will always be those who just never reach the top of the gear chain, and they'll still be running FPs, so you're right in that someone will always be lfg. But once you have made it, what's left? Quit? Fleet's general chat is only fun for so long.. and you can only roll so many alts. I often pass gear for those that need it, all I'm saying is that it shouldn't be forbidden to have alternate goals.
  3. The reason it's selfish is because you're assuming everyone plays with the same goals in mind: operations. That's a fine goal, but should someone who doesn't care to run ops just not play? The extension of your argument is that someone who raids should get priority on loot over someone who doesn't. Since not raiding is your reason for denying companion's loot. The problem here is that if we stop running FPs once our mains are set, eventually there would be nobody left running FPs. If gearing companions becomes the driving force, allowing the queue to remain moderately useful, it's better than having nobody to play with at all. Rolling on some loot is better than not ever seeing the loot. I had addressed this earlier in the thread, I was not ignoring that part of your statement.
  4. Lets be clear: In a single run I would only imply need rolling for one purpose. ie: not needing on both companion and toon loot in a single run. The point isn't to be a loot barb. It's more selfish to say someone can't roll because you need it more than they do. You wouldn't have earned any special right to drops beyond that of the other people in your group. Finally, your statement regarding credits has already been addressed. If you'd read previous posts you'd also see my willingness to lend a hand when it's needed.
  5. If operations are not someone's goal, they are still equally deserving of a fair chance at the loot they helped earn. One may choose to offer a courtesy to their group mates but that's a personal choice, one way or the other... like it or not. It does. You just have to roll higher than the other guy that needs it. You do not, however, have to agree with why he needs it.
  6. If you need it, why would you roll greed? If pretty much everyone can use them, sounds like they should need it too. Letting the group know is perfectly fine, but since you are equally entitled to the loot, and the need button is for items you need... well, I'll let you do the math. Rolling greed on something you needed and then crying when someone else needed it and rolled need is something a 12 year old would do. (see what I did there?) If an item you need drops, why would you roll greed then go buy one? If you are about to tell me that most people will just need them to sell them on the GTN, why doesn't the same apply to columi loot? It's worth 10k at the vendor... somehow things change when you need gear? use the tools for which they are intended: if you need a drop, roll need.
  7. need 'em if you need 'em. it's certainly not "a ninja" as a previous guy posted.. if you somehow swapped it to master loot, and took it, sure that's "a ninja." each player has the opportunity to roll. if you greed because you "though everyone would" then you're a fool for passing on something you needed.. and if you didn't need it, then why would you be upset if someone else did?
  8. Assuming gearing companions isn't all there is left to do. That's all I'm saying. You have the right to it, just like everyone else.. That you chose to pass it to the needy is one of the equally valid choices.
  9. The PvP gear needs to be further differentiated from PvE usefulness. Expertise in PvP already has the effect of power in PvE. (among other things) 1st, remove all power from PvP gear and increase Expertise by the amount removed. 2nd, make another PvP stat that would incorporate crit and surge, then remove those stats from PvP gear. (Call it something like Devastation.) 3rd, watch as PvP gear is no longer useful in PvE. 4th, provide a simple and convenient way to swap between gear sets without having to store all the items in our bags.
  10. Part of the problem is that BW strayed from the 5man group. reducing the number of dps toons per group by 1/3. Another is that there is no incentive to play a tank or healer once they are geared. FPs become a waste of time very quickly. The best gear in the game is made available to everyone with little effort. Make PvE comms Bind on Legacy, giving someone with a tank or healer reason to play while still being able to benefit their DPS alts.
  11. As mentioned, I'm more than happy to pass on some loot for someone that needs it, and I have no problem helping people out. Provided they're not D-Bags about it. That's me being a nice guy.. I'm only saying that each person in the group has equally earned the right to roll. Thinking otherwise is selfish.
  12. To quote you, "This is a multiplayer game so stop acting like you're the only one that matters." As such, there are many ways to play the game, and if someone's way includes spending time on their companions, they should be more than able to do so. What makes one person's time worth more than another's? What makes you entitled to loot that a group of 4 people have earned? Is it not more fair than anyone that has a use for said item, and spent the time earning it, should be given fair chance at winning it? Does it not define entitlement to say "you can't roll, because I deserve it more?" I may be part of the minority, because I'm all for fairness and equality based on time, and not perceived priority. but odds are I'm far older than you think. I'm not about to defend your position on age granting argumentative superiority, but let's be serious for a minute, you're in no position to assume moral superiority either. I've stated many times that I announce my intentions right away, I yield items to people who ask politely, and I'm more than willing to be helpful when someone is in need.
  13. When it gets to the point you mention, I wont be doing FPs anymore. As I stated, I'm not there for charity, I'm there because I'm looking to squeeze some purpose out of this game. You'll also notice in a previous post I mentioned that I would be happy to let someone (who isn't a douche) have the item they're looking for if they mention it when I make my intentions clear. I went so far as to say I'd even offer them another run if they didn't get the item.. which yes, I've done. The fact that you place little value on your companion's loot is of no consequence. We are all entitled to play with our own priorities. Also, it's not ninja looting. The dice aren't rigged, we would have fair chance on the roll. My time is worth no less than the other 3 people in the group. I invested as much in the FP as the next fella. At any rate it sounds like you play with at least one tool in every group by default. Finally, my companions are geared beyond FPs anyway, I'm just making a point on principle.
