  1. I disagree completely OP. I view this as a compromise. This content (alliance building) likely wouldn't even exist if it had to be fully voice acted. It allows BioWare to crank out new side content without having to bring in all 16 main voice actors. KOTFE cutscenes + Alliance classic conversations = perfect marriage of quality and then quantity.
  2. I have no idea how big Yavin 4 will be, but what I've learned from BioWare Austin is that it's better to go ahead and lower your expectations to avoid disappointment. I don't mean that as a slam on Austin necessarily, I think they are doing the best they can given the limitations EA has placed on them. If the expansion is at least the size of Makeb then we are probably lucky.
  3. I've pretty much given up on finding gear on the GTN during this 12xp promotion. It's not a big deal since I prefer mods anyway, but it makes gearing companions a pain. I always list stuff at the default price anyway, but I'm never sure if I'm helping people out or if I'm just giving it to someone who will buy it and relist it to price gouge (which seems to be out of control right now, it's never been easier to price gouge on the GTN). Makes it hard for newcomers too. There's definitely an argument to be made that BioWare needs to find a solution for the gearing problem, even if it doesn't really effect me personally.
  4. From the NYC cantina event, it sounds like they will be relying on player feedback to see how much people want this class story content going forward. Best thing to do to help class stories at this point is play during the 12x XP event and check out the class missions in SoR and give positive feedback (assuming they are actually good)
  5. I would definitely vote for this. I would prefer all future content to be class story content (wall of crazy), I recognize that isn't even remotely likely, so barring that this 12x XP thing is a way to keep me subscribed and playing rather than just subscribing for an expansion or double-xp weekends two or three months out of the year.
  6. The 12x XP thing alone is worth the $20 to me. The expansion is the bonus from my perspective.
  7. As long as class stories are off the table than I would rather have one good, long storyline rather than two average short storylines (coughMakebcough). But one good (?), long (?) storyline + a class mission seems like a fair deal to me.
  8. Makeb felt average because it was never meant to be an expansion, it was supposed to be a free content update back before EA gutted BioWare Austin. I think BioWare Austin and SWTOR are in a much better position now a couple of years down the road than they were back when they were scrambling to convert Makeb into something resembling an expansion. I think Makeb turned out reasonably well given the circumstances. I have no expectation that this expansion will be better, but I am interested to see what this new team can do. It's at least an exciting premise.
  9. If combining the faction storylines is the price to pay for unique class content...I'll gladly pay it. But that's just me. Maybe combining them will lead to a deeper storyline as well...can't do much worse than Makeb, especially Republic-side Makeb (or Republic-side anything for that matter).
  10. Well this was seemingly pointless. The only thing I can say is that with the news that SWTOR is the 4th highest pop MMO in the world and with profits seemingly better than ever, this next expac needs to be much more content-rich than Makeb. I can live without class stories (would much prefer class stories obviously) but there's no excuse anymore for lack of content. It's time for EA to give back to this game and give us a true content-rich expansion.
  11. I agree with everything you said. I always have and I always will want more story content to the point that I have several alts parked at 55 in the anticipation of more class story to come. I love the stories in this game so much that I have rolled multiple alts of the same classes just to experience the same stories multiple times. I have been through the leveling process in this game at least 10 times. No other MMO has come close to sating this niche in my opinion. I don't care how unrealistic an expectation it is. I don't care if EA will never fund it. I don't care. I want class story. I will say that I actually enjoyed Makeb's storyline to some degree and would prefer that if nothing else. But they have to pick up the tempo if that's the case, because it will have been nearly 2 years since Makeb for the next "expansion." I don't even care about the voice acting, if they want to make it so that everything 55+ is silent protagonist I would still want more story content. I also agree OP that flashpoints and operations are not a good way to deliver these aspects. Being a player who isn't interested in a gear grind I feel I have missed out on the last 2 years of what little story there has been with the Dread Lords, capital planet invasions etc. because it's being delivered via vehicles I'm not interested in and wasn't the promise of the original game's premise and that has caused me to basically stay unsubbed for most of the last 2 years. All we can do is continue to have our voices heard, whether anything ever comes of it or not. F2P saved this game, and the developers needed to take time to improve PvP, sandbox features, and raids...but now the time has come to switch the focus back to story.
  12. It's not JTL. But it's also not a real expansion. Calling it an expansion is 100% a tactic to get people to resub to try it out (which I can sympathize with, I resubbed to try Oricon). My fear is that calling first Makeb and now Space PvP "expansions" has made the term nearly meaningless and also gives BioWare too much freedom to claim they've had expansions, when honestly they haven't yet announced or hinted at a real expansion to the game (one that would justify a 5 level increase with a brand new endgame).
  13. I would really like to have a conversation with BioWare Austin's marketing team. There seems to be no coherent strategy here. Why label this an expansion? Doesn't that just open BioWare to even more criticism when this (almost without fail) will be disappointingly small in size and scope? It's not like they're trying to boost sales. ***?
  14. I'm excited that you're excited and I appreciate that there are many people who will enjoy this kind of content. I'm really just concerned with calling it the "second digital expansion". And then giving it away for free after having just made Makeb free...I don't get the strategy here at all. Are Makeb and this PvP game really equal in scope? What does that say for any REAL expansions down the line (if ever)?
  15. Not to be all negative (I only resubbed to check out Oricon, other than that I have been and will continue to stay unsubbed until class stories make a comeback)...but... Calling this an expansion is an even bigger joke than calling Makeb an expansion. It also reiterates the reality that we will likely never see a real expansion in the future. And it also buys BioWare time to delay the next Makeb-style DLC for at least another year (I can see it now "But, but, but we just released an expansion!!!) Other than that I've never seen the appeal of battleground-style PvP and I would have much rather had a full-space simulation than a PvP game (BioWare does know they've already alienated most of their PvP players right?) Okay back to waiting for more class stories.
