  1. Hello, With the current setup of gear progression, there is only one location in game to get Campaign armor.. and that is Explosive Conflict Hard Mode. Sure, you can farm Black Hole commendations all day and slowly gear up that way, but that is less than ideal in many cases. Now, high end players are working on Nightmare mode Explosive Conflict to continue gearing up in Dread Guard gear, and thus getting locked out of both Nightmare and Hard mode. This is a problem for new guild recruits and fresh alts. Since everyone is getting locked out on Nightmare, it is increasingly difficult to get a hard mode group together to gear up so newer characters/players can do HM TFB and NiM EC. Basically, since HM EC and NiM EC have two different loot sets, and the Campaign loot set is unique to HM EC, I believe they should be on separate lockouts.
  2. So that's interesting that the lightning puddle will dis-spell an orb. Does that effectively mean kill it or does that just mean he de-aggros off of me? If it kills it, would this be a good/bad idea? 1. I get lightning debuff and need to cleanse it. 2. As I'm running to the puddle, some orbs spawn and haven't attached to anyone. 3. Intentionally aggro one of the orbs and drag it to the puddle, killing it? Or is that too risky/unhelpful? Edit: Okay I think I misread. What you're saying is the debuff that Kephess gives me makes the orb drop aggro on me, leaving it so someone else could grab it?
  3. Hey everyone! I recently joined a guild that has already been doing HM TFB for awhile. I joined up as a Powertech tank for them, and I had experience up to SM EC. They quickly ran me through HM EC to gear me up for the higher content. For the last couple days, I tanked HM TFB for the first time, and this was also my first experience with a 16man raid. The guild was very patient with me and we managed to clear the operation (let's just ignore the whole final boss being bugged for now...), but I had a hell of a time with Kephess the Undying. We probably wiped 5 times because of me not being able to keep up with what was going on. I was getting increasingly frustrated with the encounter and really didn't enjoy it, mainly because I kept losing track of what was going on. First off, does anyone have a good video of tanking Kephess the Undying from a tank perspective on hard mode? From my understanding of last night, for phase 1 my job is to tank swap with the other tank whenever one of us gets the lightning distortion thing on us, because that causes us to lose aggro and do area damage. To clear it, you run into the little lightning pits. The first problem I was running into is I was making a beeline for the lightning pits to clear the debuffs, and then all those little orbs would drop down right on top of me and I'd get aggro on them. After a few attempts someone informed me that by running out there I was forcing the balls to spawn so I should wait a couple seconds after getting the lightning debuff before running into the middle. Second, I was having a heck of a time watching in all directions trying to figure out which tower I need to drag him to. Sometimes it seemed like the lightning graphic wasn't even showing up right. And THEN as I would be pulling him to the tower, all the stupid balls would spawn again and I'd have to try my best to weave around them. Phase 2 they had the other tank take control of since he's more experienced. I felt like a liability at that point because I don't do much damage as a tank and the nanites mechanic just leaves me more room to screw up. Really I'm just looking for as many tanking pointers on this encounter as possible, because I was really frustrated with myself that I was causing so many screw ups for my new guild. Any pointers or videos would be appreciated! Beyond this one fight I didn't have any problems with the rest of the operation, all the fights are pretty fun!
  4. I know this probably won't help much, but I wanted to confirm a case where this did NOT happen.. this post had me concerned so I logged in to check on some schematics I learned yesterday. Yesterday I read the schematic book for Fortitude Augment 19. Then I proceeded to craft and reverse engineer the blue schematic version and then the purple Advanced Fortitude Augment 19. I logged in today and I still have them. For what it is worth, it was Armstech, and I've never dropped a crew skill to learn a different one.
  5. This is perfect, I love this. I personally think all you need to do to keep PvP and PvE sets separate is include a base "Expertise" amount on all PvP gear. Each tier should have the same amount of Expertise and just increase the other stats. This is a brilliant move.
  6. The outfit the security key vendor on the Imperial Fleet is wearing.
  7. I'm assuming they've accounted for this, but buying a retail copy gives you a free month of subscription. So new players will come in with a month of full access, and then lose everything upon that month expiring. I'm assuming this means they won't go into preferred status after the free month, because otherwise it would be impossible to be non-preferred.
  8. Hello! Just a real quick question. I have some friends that are interested in playing SWTOR for the first time once Free to Play launches. My question is, if I refer a friend that decides to play Free to Play style, does that award the promotional speeder to me, or do they have to actually subscribe? I'm assuming the person playing Free to Play style will still have to buy a retail copy of the game, so I am wondering if that is enough to award for the promotion. Thanks!

  10. Hey everyone, So I know Terror from Beyond is the cool thing nowadays, but my guild has just recently started working on Explosive Conflict Hard Mode. We're reasonably well geared in mostly Rakata and a mix of Black Hole gear. In our last attempts at Toth and Zorn, we discovered we might be doing DPS too quickly, because our tanks still had residual "Fearful" debuff even when it was time to tank swap back to Zorn. How do well geared guilds handle this encounter? Do they slow DPS at a set point? I am one of the tanks and if I have a lingering Fearful debuff, all I can do to keep their attention is use my single target taunt or AE taunt, but once those are used I have to deal with cooldowns. I guess maybe a more appropriate question is, if you tank swap and still have the Fearful debuff, do the tanks just stand there and use taunts only until the debuff fades? Or do you try to avoid this situation in the first place? Thanks for any advice!
  11. Why? Isn't that what the PvE servers are for? They don't have to PvP if they don't want to.
  12. So for this idea to work, first, free, 3D space combat would need to be implemented (non-rail shooter style). Some sort of Space Combat PvP system would need to be in place. Back when I played the game that shall not be named, city raids were always a lot of fun and gave you something fun to do even if there wasn't much of a reward. For me they were fun on both offense and defense. So basically, this idea is implementing Star Wars: Battlefront 2 space combat into SWTOR. Players would attack the fleets via space combat. Perhaps before they can board any of the fleet ships, they have to disable some shields or generators via space combat. Once enemy ships are spotted, an announcement is made to the fleet that enemies are inbound, alerting defending players to defend. The defending players can hop on their ships and defend the fleet dogfight style. Then, once the shields are down or whatever, enemy players could land in the hangers of the fleet, where players on foot could defend classic PvP style with their lightsabers and blasters. Of course there would still need to be some sort of objective, otherwise it would end up just being griefing. Maybe something in the center of the ship that attacking players would want to reach for some sort of reward. Of course this would be a long ways out since a lot of the engine would need modified to allow that sort of space combat. In fact, some difficulties would include how to handle multiple instances of the fleet, and fleet population in general. I know there would be a lot of hurdles to get this in, but it would be dang fun to have this sort of thing in game.
