  1. This is very true... the primary difference is the originals made good stories and developed good characters, then worked subtle politics into it. TLJ went the opposite beating you in the face with politics and has stories that feel like an afterthought tacked on that doesn't make any sense and character development that is devoid of any substance.
  2. Wont get an argument from me there, lol. Why they swapped directors in the middle of the new trilogy and threw out the original script for Ep8 is beyond me. Going to be interesting to see what JJ can salvage from it for Ep9. Honestly be better if they just threw out TLJ, pretended that film never happened and let JJ do the proper Ep8/9 that was planned. So many compounding bad decisions by Disney.
  3. I guess you missed episode 8: the last Jedi. Making hyperspace a weapon fundamentally broke almost everything star wars lore. The galaxy doesn't make any sort of sense in new canon. Inserted for the sole purpose of social commentary of purple hair girl knows best.... contrast to cantina scene in a new hope... 'droids not welcome here, he'll have to wait outside' subtle, doesn't break the movie barely noticeable... but still memorable to me, I think about that scene anytime I'm somewhere and someone is being discriminated against in that fashion, but present especially in it's day, social commentary... new cannon is just girl = win... not nearly as subtle as Leia being one of the first lead female roles that was a fighter, and political leader... modern cannon took subtle political commentary and turned it into obvious lore breaking plot holes to push a political agenda. Lucas vs Disney is a perfect example of how to subtly push a political agenda and build a world masses will love at the same time vs how to break a world and shove politics down your throat... is the difference between a scene I'll remember, probably 'til I die vs oh god another SJW movie ruining a perfectly good world I've come to love. SWTOR is a bit more lucas than disney in their pushing narrative. It's there, but, less obvious, and not lore breaking.
  4. Not true, Lucas just did it in a less obvious way that worked to the world he was making, made sense and didn't overshadow the story as a whole... Disney... yeah, that's not what they're doing, lol. You can see it in TOR as well... it's just done in a more lucas way that makes sense to the universe/game, than the weird stuff disney is doing.
  5. I'm a founder played off and on a long time ago up until january 2015 when I finally quit. Just picked the game back up a couple of weeks ago. My first char was an Imp Op, almost quit then, cause the story ending was pretty disappointing, but I figured I'd just try a new char and made my sith warrior, which was a much better story and the gameplay feels like you're a really strong sith, good stuff and my favorite. Then came my sith inquisitor cause I wanted a healer, don't really remember the storyline... think it was kind of.. OK ish. Wanted to eventually get through all the chars so I made a republic trooper, got through the first 2 chapters, snoozefest, wasn't interested, game got stale & I quit. Since I came back, I got through both the new storylines on my warrior, finished chapter 3 on my trooper and started a smuggler... smuggler seems like a pretty good storyline, but I'm only 1/2 way through chapter 1 on it. Stories are pretty hit or miss whether I like them or not probably because I like playing as the bad guy, but sith warrior is the only one I want to actually play, the rest are just, fun story, back to my warrior. Smuggler seems like it'll be a pretty gun story though... Ran into the problem of ruining my warrior in chapter 9, turning him into a monk, so I'm debating remaking my warrior.... don't really wanna lose my social/valor ranks and spend the time on a story I've already done... but I also don't want to play an impotent char qq. Maybe I'll make a dark side jedi knight, and support the empire at the end of the storyline... anyone know if that actually swaps your faction?
  6. lol the only choice that really matters is in chapter 9 where if you don't know about the on/off switch ahead of time and don't wanna go f**k Theron, you become a monk for the rest of the game.
  7. how do you turn off the 'this item is not optimized for pvp' message? I know there is a 100k credit lv186 hilt in my weapon instead of a 3500 ranked comm lv174 hilt in it, I don't need a message every time in enter a warzone to tell me. Side note, for tanking classes, set bonus aside, are armor mods worth the expertise or are you better off w/lv 186 armor off the AH & expertise mods/enhances from comms rather than getting set pieces? The level difference is so high and the dmg reduction from expertise is a lot lower than the dmg enhancement, wondering if the stats/armor are worth the expertise from a purely tanking perspective.
  8. rarely have I been so mad at the end of the storyline of a game, lolz... probably because I actually took the time to watch all the cutscenes on my first char, so having such a horrible ending was very crushing.
  9. this game really isn't very realistic, or true to star wars lore.
  10. My suggestion... the family tree a little more... open... Although I don't really roll play, I do have a story for all my chars... I have my main char zabrak warrior, he had an affair with a twi'lek jedi knight resulting in 2 kids one zabrek and one twilek, main char took the zabrek and trained her as a sith inquisitor, but her mothers influence led her to make light side decisions -> light side sith. The Twi'lek child went with her mother to train as a jedi consular, but is drawn to her the dark side like her father. The closest i can come to this in the family tree is putting one of them as my warriors child and the other as their sibling and warrior and mommy as married. They arn't married, they jus smashed, there's no option for affair or just smashed, and neither sibling shows relation to their mother. A couple more options like affair for relationship, and the ability to link child to 2 chars the line come off between them would make that a lot more clear. Another example of making this a little more inclusive would be my operative and trouper, both of which are allys for my warrior (yeah my trouper is a double agent for my warrior) and are rivals against each other. I cannot put both as allys to warrior & as rivals to each other (I can't even put both as allys, since warrior can only have 2 non-child relationships and one is already taken by mommy from above.) Albeit I don't even really roll play much, but I do like all my characters linking together to make sense, and although there is no actual difference in game and its almost purely an RP thing so it isn't really a priority to make this system work a little better, it would also be incredibly easy to do, it'd probably only take 1 person a couple of hours of programing to allow linking chars relationships to more than 1 person each, and adding a few more options for relationships.
  11. thank you, I will repost there
  12. ppl like the agent story? agent was my first char and the story was so disappointing I abandoned my char and made a new one when I finally finished it.
  13. I didn't see a suggestion forum, so I figured I'd toss this in here since it is more related to story/lore than anything else. My suggestion... the family tree a little more... open... Although I don't really roll play, I do have a story for all my chars... 14. Suggest either A> unlimited dark/light points or B> maintain dark/light level until dropping in points to 2 levels below current one. This sugjestion would stop people from dropping to IV every time they make a opposite alignment choice. Its kinda dumb you cant make any lawful choices when a lot of the time the lawful choice is obviously more beneficial (allowing ppl to live as my slave instead of killing them for example)
  15. Agent was my first char when the game came out, and the end of the storyline was so disappointing and confusing... For a game that relys heavily on storyline they really made a garbage agent one. How can you be intelligence agent for an inteligence agency that no longer exists, I literally sat staring at my computer for like 5 minutes trying to figure out how this story and character make any sense.
