  1. I'd have to see for myself, but are none of the drops along the way useable in either hand? I know that many of the crafted sabers are useable in either hand. Check the GTN.
  2. I should have clarified earlier... Jedi can only choose Sith styles if you have reached Dark V on your legacy, and Sith can only choose Jedi styles if you have reached Light V on your legacy. Again, this is to my understanding. ============= Subscribers can choose two styles. One at the start and then a second later on (I don't remember exactly when). Non-subscribers are limited to one style. If you let your subscription lapse, the style will be locked in to whatever it was when the sub expired. There are limits on switching styles, though.
  3. If you want to give it a try, there are always people advertising, on fleet and on many planets. Keep your eye on chat or send out a message yourself that upi are looking for a guild with whatever other demands you might have (PvP, RP, etc). /Gquit is the command to leave your guild. If you join one and things aren't working out, just quit and try again.
  4. They separated "Styles" from classes. Your Origin is the class story that you will play and that includes the companions that you will have. I, for example, liked the way my Jedi Sage played but much preferred the Jedi Knight companions and story, so I rolled a new toon with origin Jedi Knight but then selected Sage for the style. That gives that character Sage abilities while playing the Jedi Knight class story with the Knight's companions. Force using classes can only select from the opposite faction if they reached dark V on their legacy if I am not mistaken. So if you want a Jedi Knight to use Sith Warrior or Sorcerer skills, for example, you will need to get that done first. So if you want a bounty hunter to use a sniper rifle? Pick BH origin with sniper style. You want a BH with a rifle? Pick BH origin with venguard style, and so on.
  5. They have added some romance options as time went on, mostly in the later game. As far as I know, you can romance only one of the "official" early companions. If there are two possibilities, you will be put into a place where you will have to choose. This does not prevent you from messing around with some NPCs on the various planets that you will visit, though. Later on, there will be more options and, as I understand it, you will be able to continue your romance with your earlier companion if you started one, or to start/continue a romance that you started later on. But ultimately only one romance at a time in any case. At least, again, to my understanding.
  6. I have not looked at it, but there is a "colorblind" option in preferences -> Graphics. That may be of some help. Good luck fellow old-timer.
  7. It has some ranged abilities, but it is pretty much intended to operate <10 m from enemies. You can jump to distant enemies, or pull distant enemies in, or fire off some basic attacks at longer range, but you will be making your living close in whether tanking or DPS. Same with the powertech for the BH. And just to cover the rest of the bases, the operative for the Imperial Agent and scoundrel for the Smuggler are the same. They have some basic attacks that have longer ranges, but they are built to work in close. For longer ranges you want commando, mercenary, sniper, or gunslinger out of the tech users.
  8. I don't think that it was a total waste, but the execution needed some more polishing, in my opinion. I am, for example, enjoying that I get to play the Jedi Knight story and have Jedi Knight companions while using Consular abilities. But I don't enjoy that when I did my first Shroud mission that I was offered a bunch of companion gear for the Consular's companions. You know? The companions I do not have? And I realize that companion gear is cosmetic, but all the same if they are going to offer me companion gear it should be for companions I actually have. At minimum create two tables; One for force users and one for tech users. So for the Shroud reward I mentioned they would offer a weapon for every companion for both Knights and Consulars to pick from. For tech users they would offer a weapon for every Trooper and Smuggler companion. I played around with a Smuggler using BH abilities. Okay, I was able to wear gear restricted to a BH but the armor did not look like the BH armor. Instead it used the Republic appearances. So the game says that I am a BH but I can't *LOOK* like a BH using the crafted armor. Also? I couldn't wear the Smuggler-restricted gear. So I am limited in my ability to look like either of the two classes I claim. A smuggler that can not wear smuggler-restricted armor, and a BH that can wear BH-restricted gear, only it looks like trooper gear when he puts it on. I get that there could be issues using the character background. My "Jedi Knight", for example, is using Consular powers and so it limited to light armor. If they were giving rewards based upon background then I could end up with armor I could not wear while never getting armor or weapons (in the case of the double-bladed saber) that I could use. But I think that this is all fixable with a little thought and a lot of work. And if it's too much work to fix then it was too much work to make the change in the first place. If powers determine the gear (and they do) then they should determine the appearance as well. At minimum change the class-restricted gear to have only a single appearance. If you can wear a smuggler-only set then it will look like that smuggler set whether you are a smuggler, trooper, agent, or BH. There are plenty of other medium armor crafted sets that are open to anyone and those could continue to use faction-based appearances. So if, for example, you wanted your Imperial Agent to use a smuggler ability set while still "looking like" an Agent then use an open medium or adaptive armor set. If, however, you put on the Dreliad set then it will look like what it has always looked like on a smuggler.
  9. That could be. This particular toon is not 80. I made a new Jedi Knight to take advantage of the new ability options; A Knight background with Consular powers for, in my opinion, the best of both worlds from a force-user perspective. They are in their early 60s now. But if that is the case then I think that needs fixing. I mean, those treasure hunting lockboxes aren't great. The chances of getting your credits worth out of one are very slim, so if I open a lockbox and get some random piece of green gear and/or a companion gift then so be it. But to list something else and then not give me that something else because that particular toon is not of the appropriate level is misleading and, in a very real sense, insulting. They know the character level before they show me the contents. If I can't get something because of character level then take it off the reward list. Don't lie to me (and everyone else) by telling them they they are getting this or that and then just not giving it to them.
  10. Well, that wasn't it. Opened another box, got another bag of Tech Fragments, still sitting at 5,141 tech fragments.
  11. Thanks. I'll try to be more attentive next time I have a lockbox waiting on me and check a few numbers. It makes no sense, though. I don't get any gear or companion gifts until I accept the contents, so getting these other things whether I accept or not, and them continuing to show as a reward if I decline acceptance even though you are saying that I got them just by opening the box is odd.
  12. Since the change to conquest I haven't really felt the need to grind it out. The crafting decorations were a big part of why I ran conquests as a solo player, and without them there just isn't much need. I get some pocket change and some special currency I seem to get enough of as I just play the game, so... As to the question? I think that I would prefer to have multiples with a couple of styles. It still fits the story aspect better, though the game itself has failed storytelling on multiple occasions. I can completely understand someone wanting to min/max preferring a single toon, though. Only problem is that you wouldn't have bank alts to store whatever inventory overload you may end up with.
  13. A return to sane storylines. I thought that George Lucas had said that Palpatine was the most powerful Sith, if not force user, that had ever lived. Palpatine had nothing on this Emperor. And Malgus? He was basically Vader. The Emperor's right hand and hatchet-man. Well, he was, anyway. Maybe Disney has changed this, but it doesn't really matter. There comes a point that it doesn't resemble Star Wars any more (and I never watched the last movie because Disney made me stop caring). That the Emperor stops being an evil force user with the power of an empire behind him and he becomes a comic book supervillain on the level of Galactus or some such; Consuming worlds to fuel his ever-expanding (and ever more ridiculous) power. ============= Stories for everyone. And if they can't figure out one story that works, and I mean truly works, for every class then they need to break them up. It's stupid that my trooper is dragging Eric the half a Jedi around, and by half I am being generous and by Jedi I mean that he has become my padawan. And I repeat, I am a trooper though that could apply to any non-force using class. It's dumb. The entire Knights storyline was almost as dumb for a non-force user. Of course, I think it's dumb for other reasons, too, but I can't argue that they should remove and re-write all of what that stuff is supposed to do, so I only ask that they try to make sure that the troopers and hunters of smugglers and agents of the world fit into the stories they try and tell going forward every bit as much as the Jedi and Sith do. And if they can not do that with a single story then write two stories or four stories or however many stories they have to. Bioware spent way too much time and energy bragging on story to expect me to accept this "one size fits all" nonsense that they have been putting out. Heck, it reminded me in short order why I had been un-subbed for so long. ============= Control over my companion page. It's bad enough I got stuck with so many companions I care nothing about, but I can't even arrange the list to easily find the small number of companions that I do care about. Not for missions and not for summoning/using to assist me in the game. I just want to put the companions in a list based on my preferences.
  14. As has been mentioned, best when you go to the GTN to *NOT* be too specific on the search terms. It can be weird. So you want to check armor chest pieces? Just select armor, slot = chest (or legs, or whatever you are looking for, but I would say chest to start), and then an armor type. Go through whatever you can wear... You may be a heavy armor class, but you can slot light or medium armor in the outfitter slots and be just fine. You can use the preview window to look at the possibilities as you go... Preview chest pieces until you find one that you like, then start previewing leg pieces, then feet and hand slots, etc, until you get what you want. And there are, of course, different vendors as well. Legacy vendors on the capital worlds and several different vendors on the fleet, and don't forget the cartel bazaar, either. If you don't have the right currency for this or that gear, you'll at least know what events to look for in the future. There are a lot of people in the bazaar with a lot of different things to sell.
  15. .. But I have a question, maybe an issue. I decided to take a closer look at some things a moment ago, and as far as I can tell I am not getting what the game said I would get. I ran a few Treasure Hunting missions, one of which was for some lockboxes. When I logged in they were waiting for me, and I opened them up. Only when I saw that I was to be getting a bag of tech fragments I thought to check how many the bag contained (it said 10), and then I checked to see how many I already had (5,141 of 11,000 max). So I accepted the contents of the box and that was that. I assumed that the bag opened automatically because it didn't appear in my inventory, but there was no bag and there was no change in the number of tech fragments that I had. Then I opened another lockbox (I got three from that mission) and it contained an OP-1 catalyst. Again, I checked how many I had, then accepted the loot from the box, and the number of OP-1 catalysts in my currency tab did not change. So what am I missing? Besides, apparently, a whole lot of tech fragments and catalysts that I have not been getting when these loot boxes said I was?
