  1. Finding a group to play with isn't too terrible if you're social and a decent player. However, finding the goods you want or selling goods on the GTN for a low population server can be quite difficult.
  2. It helps to build threat. If you're not using this then you are a bad. I like to use it right before I drop an aoe like DFA.
  3. I haven't had much success with ironfist spec myself, it's damage and survivability seem lower than non-hybrid specs. I have however had success with earning a high amount of medals per game as a full pvp tank spec. I earn less medals but do more damage as a pyro, and it's also fun just to melt someones face with a bunch of rail shot procs. I'd say that pvp becomes a lot more fun when you get decent gear. Being that you're low level I would research when the first tier of lowbie pvp gear becomes available and start buying them as your WZ commendations stack up. You should notice a difference.
  4. I got a lvl 50 PT and I played a merc to 30 during the beta weekend. Having tried both, I have to admit that mercs seem to be more fun in combat and have more of an identity than powertechs. That said, I've invested a lot of time into my PT so it's unlikely that I'll be re-rolling, and every class in the game is fun to play, it's just that I had more fun playing on my mercenary. The other issue, is that you'll probably end up only using Mako if you're a powertech since you won't be able to heal yourself. If you're a merc you'll be more comfortable using companions that don't have healing abilities ( every companion except the droid and Mako.) Other mercs have told me that they just use whatever companion they feel like or require for a fight and heal them if they need to. The companion issue is probably my major beef with powertechs 1-50, but I also ran into trouble with my higher level class quests because of a lack of CC. For example, at one point I had two high level strong NPCs that I needed to kill, but both had healing abilities so it was difficult to do. A mercenary could have just crowd controled one mob and burned the other one down. However, if you like to pvp I will admit that it's more fun with a PT than a merc what with guard and taunts being the valor sponge that they are right now compared to heals and DPS. TL;DR Merc if you like pve and leveling, PT for pvp.
  5. Can you elaborate on your plans for end-game space combat and give a rough estimate of when they will be implemented?
  6. It's kind of useful in PvE situations, but it does feel rather underwhelming, and the damage is pretty weak in PvP. I'd be happy to see it with an added utility like extra threat or make it like a damage-taunt in pvp.
  7. Unfortunately I have to agree with you. I don't know what they were thinking with powertech gear, especially for PVP (frog hat?). Merc gear looks much more iconic for PvE and PvP. I guess it's nice having the rarer armor type though since most bounty hunters went merc.
  8. Please enlighten me as to how you're coming up with the figure of 50% less damage as AP without damage meters or a combat log.
  9. I got a light V relic that I've been trying to use for tanking. Problem is I'm too occupied with my pvp dailies and HM flashpoints to go out and do a bunch of low level missions for LS Points. Further exacerbating the situation is the fact that you can not earn LS / DS points from HM Flashpoints currently, hopefully Bioware changes that because it is annoying.
  10. If you haven't tried a warzone as tank spec I would strongly encourage it. Especially since the warzone is normally huttball, it's perfect for tanks.
  11. Rocket charge in, use an electro dart or grapple them with the snare talent, then flame.
  12. I was Armormech for beta but I'm Cybertech for live. Armortech was more immediately gratifying (building decent upgrades for my armor right off the bat), but Cybertech seems to be more geared for endgame with rare ship upgrades, item modifications for all that RP gear you want to play in, and also a custom-built speeder bike that I'm still farming some underworld metals for. So my vote would be cybertech, also it seems like most bounty hunters went armsmech and armormech.
  13. lol the exact same thing happened to me and my boss caught me trolling the forums.
