  1. You sir are a scholar and a gentleman! Thanks for the info :-)
  2. Apologies if this has been asked, but I couldn't find anything. I'm new to the Gunslinger class (although I've done most of the other classes through to completion over the years), and the one thing that really annoys me is the button bar re-organising itself when I dive into cover! Is there any way to disable this? It's so annoying for me that it's seriously impacting my enjoyment of what would otherwise be a fun class to play
  3. Hi I started a new toon a while back and just hit lvl48. While flying to Correlia for that planets quest line this morning, I noticed a quest marker had appeared on my ships holoterminal. Clicking it started the whole Makeb quest line, flew my ship to Makeb and disembarked me without any option to decline! Also, during the Makeb cutscene, certain spoilers were revealed about my class questline (I'm an Imp Inquisitor) which I haven't actually completed yet! (the spoiler wasn't a biggie, as it's pretty obvious, up to a point, what is going to happen at this late a level, just immersion breaking) Shouldn't the Makeb questline only be offered after I've completed my class questline at least? Or after I reach lvl 50? (the Makeb quest was marked as lvl 51 and, as I previously stated, I'm lvl48, so it would have been pretty suicidal to run off and try it). Or is this working as intended?
  4. My first was UO, which I remember fondly. Although largely because I was a non-combatent (I was a master blacksmith) and it was very rare I got 'ganked' and also because I actually got offered a real life job in game by a female elf! (The person involved couldn't contact me by phone as I was dialed up, so logged onto UO, found me and offered me a job from there!) EQ was my favourite though. It was simply the pure size of the place and the lack of fast travel (apart from wizards who could gate you for a price). I created quiet a few characters, leveled them to lvl 11 (where I could use a very basic invisibility spell with a really long cooldown) and then run them from one coast of Antonica to the other. A successful run would take well over an hour (with at least one rest period because night time was so dark you couldn't see a foot in front of you!). And it was very dangerous! The chances of getting through were about 50/50, although most of these characters were disposable as they were made just for this type of run. I found tons of interesting things during these runs. Met loads of interesting people. Got killed in some very interesting ways too. There's nothing that is of a similar size with similar accessability issues or similar reasons to even attempt such a treck these days unfortunately, and the MMO world is a much diminished place for it. I went back to EQ a few years back, only to find that it too had 'shrunk' and had fast travel. My world died a little that day
  5. The space portion of SWG was one of the few things SOE got right. It had simplified physics, free flight, massively upgradeable ships, multiplayer ships, PvP, PvE and mining to name a few of its highlights. Not everyone did it, but those that did loved it and a lot stayed on even after ground combat etc was nerfed out of existence for them. I know. I was one For me, if they managed to implement even a fraction of what SWG JTLS had, but in their own way, I would be happy. It kept me going for years trying to get new ships, ship parts, titles, skills and exploring the galaxy, not to mention the healthy profit I made in manufacturing space craft parts and consumables
  6. All in all, I enjoyed it. The only major downside as far as I was concerned was the 'enforced' PvP flagging. I play on a PvE server as I don't play and have no interest in PvP. This PvP flagging at the Stardream wreckage made things tantamount to griefing. I was taken out a few times by groups of people just waiting for you to get flagged so they could gank you. There also seemed to be stealthed PvP flagged guys sneaking into your AoE attacks in order to flag you. Not cool
  7. Right, I'm back with extra popco.... awww, you didn't wait!
  8. Awww, I'm out of popcorn. Can we pause this thread while I go get some more please?
  9. Fully fledged space battles from a cockpit point of view. Definately. It's one of the things SWG more or less got right (eventually), allowing you to not only PvE, but PvP, resource gather and explore. The current batch of ships we have would need toning down with their handling and probably the cockpit views / turret hardpoints would need tweaking etc and maybe a few fighter class ships adding, but by no means would a full flight sim be needed. The space portion of SWG was what made me come back years after the CU / NGE and kept me there right up until the end
  10. ^This^ I have attempted to craft armouring mods all the way through leveling my BH. I have almost always found that I will have outlevelled the mod by the time I've got a purple RE proc and got enough raw mats to make at least one. For example, trying to get a level 29 purple armour mod at lvl 29, I managed to get the sum total of 1 made just as I hit 31 and the next level of mods became usable. This happened for many levels, with some where I just couldn't get the proc. As a result, I am now RE'ing and getting mats for the level of mods above my own level so that I can at least get a few good pieces as I get there. The RE / purple raw mat procs are way bellow the rate at which you level unfortunately
  11. When you finally hit the fleet at about lvl 10, you should see a quest giver in the fleet that gives skill related quests. These quests will guide you through the skills learning process, although it is up to you which you choose. Alternatively, you can just go to the fleet, find the trainer(s) of your choice and train up, assuming you are of high enough level to get to fleet. You will miss out on some XP though by not doing the quest and clicking on all of the trainers (not just the ones you want)
  12. I agree. Overall, for a just launched MMORPG, it is an astounding success (this from someone who has been in beta / launch for many of the genre right back to UO beta). the 1.2 patch also promises to be one of the biggest first patches from an MMORPG (and no, I'm not a fanboy before anyone says it, if it didn't work for me, I wouldn't be here) You will always get people that vent on these type of forums. It's the nature of the beast and will never change. Everyone has different points of views and opinions : some like it, some hate it, most for personally valid reasons, some purely because that's what they like to do. Going back to the open stress test beta weekend, I remember someone complaining that lag etc caused by way too many people in the starter zones shouldn't be there and that the game shouldn't still be in beta at that point, BW are **** etc when the whole point was to test at what levels the instancing should be set / how many people a zone or instance could take. Still makes me smile now :-)
  13. Currently, if you mouseover a phase boundry, a 'popup' will display '"Group Phase' or 'Bounty Hunter Phase' etc It would be nice if it would also show which quest the phase referred to (but only if you had that quest in your quest list)
  14. I don't think it would work. Any testosterone filled young bloods would see the 30+ label and think that they were missing something, or simply roll on there to grief anyway as you've just provided a target audience for them that they know they can upset. My thoughts anyways
