  1. Disney made a mistake, a very costly one at that. With every "New" or in the case of star WARs "resurrected" franchise have to reflect the time and era it is made in. Because of this we see many franchises that focus mre or less only on said reflection. Superman jumps to mind, the very essence of this franchise is Superman saving the Earth from super criminals. However much like Disney did With star WARs and what happens to most franchises is that they have to "relect" so we got Louis & Clark, here the fucus was NOT superman saving the world from super criminals, but the sole focus was on the romace/relations between Louis lane and Superman.....drinking coffee, dating, dancing and doing everything that is NOT SUPERMAN. Now lets move to Star Wars. The franchise had been ressurected by Disney, by executives want to play it safe, they want to relect today's day and age, and social Dynamics. So rather than focus on this winin the franchise as it was, they possibly out of "fear" wanted to make absolutely sure, so they included aspects of socila politics, race, gender etc etc but they did so for the sole sake of refelcting Our time and age rather than using said elements to further the story. When they then began attacking the fan base, calling them racist and sexist for wanting a WELL WRITTEN and SOLID female lead, and "minority" symbol, then Disny made their biggest mistake. Let us look at Holdo, lets look at her ROLE, not her gender or looks, but what she did to further the story. She kept her "silly" master plan Secret, refusing to share it With her subordinates......somehow this makes her a stong woman in the eyes Disney, though an extreely stupid one in everybody else's eyes. She decided finally to take the ONLY SHIP the resistance had that was a true warship, and only after 4/5th of the fleet had been destroyed in the slow Chase....for nothing other than to cement Holdo's utter stupidity. Had she been a strong leader then she would have done the lightspeed attack sooner, not waited until 4/5th were lost, she would also have used a very small ship, maybe even one controlled by a droid. ANYTHING ELSE than what she did. Then we have Finn, another character that unfortunately is there solely for reflecting and so Disney can bang their chest and claim to be inclusive. So they come With Finn, a caricature of a "black man" worse than the 1930s Cartoons (and they are not Nice) He is the FIRST which is the only thing they are concerned about. They naturally at the time forgot Lando and Mace windu.............both black and actually DID SOMETHING to further the story. What exactly did Finn do? For no reason what so ever he decided to betray the first order and break out poe, so far so good, he then played a big part in TFA, a little confused about his here and now, but still he contributed to the story. Enter TLJ; here he walks in a funny suit so we all can laugh of the black man, i am surprised he didn't eat watermelons too. He then after being the Hero in TFA, suddenly wanted to run away, for no reason, but he was ON SCREEN...( so was the black People in 1930s cartoons when they ate watermelons, it is NOT the right thing to do) He then got to play sidekick to Rose Tico's totally meaningless story Arch. Now don't get me wrong, Rose was cool, i like her but her character did nothing what so ever to further the story. What did she do? She was told that only ONE MAN could Slice the New order, they saw him, but got in a little trouble. Rather than trying to contact the man they HAD TO FIND TO SUCCEED, rose decided the best way to help the resistance was NOT TO GET THE SLICER, but to free the animals ( that ended up being killed) and then they decided to og With DJ to the first order KNOWING ONLY ONE COULD SLICE, and his name was not DJ. Then they ran around on the first order ship like headless chickes......BUT IT WAS WOMAN'S IDEA......so they continued and ended up doing Nothing what so ever. They then managed to get back,, here Finn now was DOING SOMETHING, he was the soldier he was trained to be, he did HIS THING, and then rose, again just to have an asian femal on screen, NOT TO HAVE THE CHARACTER DO ANYTHING to further the story, she managed to destroy everthing FINN was trying to do, destroy his character....but Disney mad claim she was the FIRST asian famel and it was "that" that was important, not to actually have her do something, though if they had bothered to see the prequals they would have seen femal asian jedi who actually DID SOMETHING in the story. And the list goes on and on about how Disney inserted scenes, issues, and characters for the sole purpose of claiming they had not "left anyone out". and they continue to Call fans haters when they ask for a STRONG female character over a charicature that makes female protagonists look at best silly. That is why SWTOR and everthing else not Disney is better than the current
  2. What is the issue here? Not being able to access the cartel Marked through the CTRL+M, nor through the menus either. AKA gone. This is simply stupid...... Turn it back on!
  3. I think the main issue with any game is when they begin to change concept. SWTOR have changed too much to please various sub groups of players. As an example, though not an isolated cause, but it adds up with other issues. _Odessen and star fortress Heroics.........after the solo achievement I can count on one hand the times I have seen people call for a group to do them. Lets go to FPs, and how they changed......some less popular ones are gone....but the overall is they were made into solo missions through story and to some extent vateran modes...... PVP has the same thing, issues with content, bolster and the like...... So what I am actually saying? I am saying that the came as it was concepted should have been unaltered, bug fixes and added story and instance, pvp mission content is not actually changing stuff, but addinf solo modes to operations, removing the "need" to group up, adding the hyperleveling speed etc etc is all due to what the players cry out for......but is it really? I dare say all these changes, most conflicting with each other in some way are the result not of the majority of players but the vocal sub groups of players that really want the game game to be something "more" than it was and is concepted for. If we look ar games that sustains and survives they have less than optimal playerbases, surviving mostly on subscriptons while still being good enough for f2p to be tempting. SWTOR made the mistake of trying to please too many rather than stay true to concept........and we are all to blame, as players
  4. There is a major difference between throwing the huttball a little late compared to purposely jumping into a fire.... However it is not always easy for the team mates to see this difference. I still remember my first huttball, I had difficulties NOT getting into acid or fire, but I never tired to......I did try to avoid it Now in all fairness to the team, seeing a player jump into acid, spawn and run into flames, spawn and fall/jump into either flame or acid again etc......seems very much like a troll....but is a bad player trying... And here is why there should be ZERO expectations in the unranked pvp, and it should rather be a "bonus" if you managed to PUG a well functioning team as in all at least appears to try. Have I thrown matches, yes I have, but not on purpose, I have made repeated mistakes, often the same one repeatedly.....and this I can reasonably see could be seen as somewhat of trolling my team, but it is far from my intentions, Neither do I feel any growth in skill, both due to what I feel is an unfair label as a burden, even though I actually am, and the fact that by queueing up I get a random map, meaning once I manage to understand one, hopefully in 3 rounds, then I am back to zero next time....doing this for a day...even for a few hours is not a very good experience given the comments and expectations and hate directed to those not at par int "their" eyes. This is what kills any pvp on any game to be honest.
  5. Very well said. While I personally do not understand how it is in any way fun to "want" to do something in the game in the limited time you hve on, only to be killed for nothing and "locked out" in cooldowns and travels just because.....it what I suspect drives most players away. Now the ganking issue on swtor has for the most part been "solved" long ago, but this does not bring back those players that left. They come bck to read the forums, looking for any actions taken against this genking or toxic attitude in the WZs...and find that class balance is on the agenda.......nothing to actually "make people want" to come back, even players far more PVP oriented than me. I even have a friend who have actually ( how it turns out I have yet to know) have asked for a refund by BW/EA on the grounds of him being ganked in the game, to the extend that he felt that his at the time brand new subscription was for nothing....as he was hindered too much with his very limited time on line...max 3 hours a day, not every day. Now if the group of players so concerned with the game dying would actually bother to contribute in stopping this trend then I suppose it could be reasonable to discuss PVP...but alas it is not. The MAIN thing that kill this game even today is toxic behaviour and the defense of this because we have made ourselves some "artificial" rules we follow, be them sos and so in pvp ( not stated in tos, etc) governing gear, skill expectations and the like. Grow the F up! Stop being unreasonable in unranked zones.....there ANYTHING goes with ZERO expecations....anything else is wrong .........it is just how it is....... How about allowing others to do what they pay for??? because this is what many, too many PVPers prevent "beginners/noobs" in doeing and this cost BW/EA money they could have spent on among other things PVP content
  6. I fully understand the time currency thing, to me it is also a limited currency. I suspect that (pvp) trolls, possibly someone that favours another game and thus acts like a troll prompts reactions I have been "victim" of. I for one, and I think this is pretty universal, tend to generalize to some extent, if I have had 100 bad experiences odds are I label the "feature" as bad. If I have felt targeted "unfairly" by enough better PVPers I too tend to label them all......this is natural. But this why I say that in unranked there should be no expectations of anything but trolls and trolling, and IF you happen to get on a team ( and the enemy) with no trolls....then this is the bonus. With limited time comes some "responsibilities" and it would be IMO somewhat counter productive to decide to spend the limited time in an environment or feature in this case, ripe with trolls of all kinds and then expect otherwise...... Now if I had limited time, I wanted to PVp and be somewhat sure I am not grouped with a troll I will go to friends or guildies......THAT is in part why those features exists. This even goes down to the premade issues.............If I plan and then executes going with my guild for a win , then we would make sure to optimalize our team....aka premade...........to avios this I PUG. So when you see a troll on PVP.........how can you KNOW 100% that this is not an unskilled player who want more than he can "do" and tries but you can't see......or an actual troll?? This is the problem.......I man not a troll, but I have thrown a fight........not because I wanted to lose but because simply I had no clue....repeatedly........and then being called out and labeled a troll etc etc. So is the troll a troll or simply not any good but "can possibly be better"? ( This guy from what I have been reading IS a troll)
  7. First off the outlaw's den and the enforced "surprise" pvp may be gone, as I said I tend to stay away from the "plague". By my wordings you might also reach the correct conclusion that I don't really care much for or even like pvp My own experiences have been less than "good" when we speak of swtor pvp. I am almost 100% unskilled, and this means IF I was to guard a node, I would die by typing in any incoming call, be it G1 or S1 or something that simple......I do not key bind, I use wasd for movements, occationally q and e for sidesteppings. I mostly stand and move very little in combat, not for a lack of trying but I just don't get it... So I enter a feature of a game that will propel me a huge way to leveling up....opened at level 10( ish) With my total lack of skill I can not in any way contribute to a team victory, I am only a burden.....but I have this right The game allows me to go into an unranked and "by design and concept" a much less competitive environment, where by design I can be allowed to outright "suck" and everyone is on the level, naturally some most will be my betters, but no level of anything is expected...and players like me are allowed to grow and "want to". However I am given so and so advice, then spoken to like I am retarded when I fail........but I try, I try so hard I sweat and curse........but the results are no seen. So I become the target, people commenting, complaining and hating on..........this does not want to improve ( for them) but makes me want to sabotage for them......teach them what is to be expected in a "random" setting that any Unranked PUG is. So I try my darndest, my team do not see the result, I am now the "hate" object, I am blamed etc etc........... Now, for a moment suppose that ALL were "smart" enough to realize two things........... 1) The Game by design has ALL unranked WZs for random totally expect nothing and be maybe happy once, pvp aspect, with any level of competiton in ranked ( content or lack thereof aside) 2) You CAN NOT LOSE anything in the WZs, you can progress slower. PVP on swtor always gives a revard of something............so there is no loss, just "less" of a win. If you played a lottery, and you always won at least your money back by default, then you have not lost if you missed out on the jackpot, you still win....but only less
  8. you are wrong on the HK Mission You have to get this item from a vendor in outlaws den....at least had to, things may have been changed. Now once you enterd the area you were autoflagged.......with a long turn off cooldown. Add to this numnerous, mostly fixed now finally, bugs causing AOE to trigger pvp flagging, be it you are in their AOE, or they in yours...... I tokk me no less than 8 days to go through Outlaws den to get that one HK part........that I paid for as a subscriber....had the mission warned of PVP I would never have done it. I have several friends that quit the game having tried for more than 3 times to go through outlaws den to get the item....( which at the time was needed.....................some told me it is also in the seekerdroid missions and the macrobinocular ones) Now add to this 20ish minutes overland travel for a legcy with zero unlocks, moving overland between the QT points with the QT timer being in 10s of minutes and not getting faster. Add limited or no resurrection medical probes for the non sub etc etc.... Here is the issue with PVP on swtor.....not the pvp, nor the rules or bugs, but that the flag button has a off cooldown rather than the "more sane" turn back on cooldown, allowing a free with no cooldown turn off. So yeah the issue is that unfortunately 99.999% of the PVP population is not mature enough to be awake after dark, and reflects this in how they treat others, especially those so bad and lacking so much skill they can barely run in a circle......and THEY are meant to be in the Unranked Zones by design.
  9. Yeah, the PVP needs to be here, and I fully support this. I do however not in any way support the level of expectation and reactions to players so bad their team WILL LOSE if they are on the team..........because the unraked WZ by design is for this players (also). So if no expectation of anything in unranked became the norm.....anything else I will classify as mildly dumb, then pvp is a welcome thing.....as it is now it is actually better to get rid of the poison
  10. I can see this, however I hope you are not one of those that believe that this gives you any rights to make demands about win/lose gear, or skill in the PVP environment you have chosen...... it is THAT which is the main issue with swtor pvp. THIS is why I avoid it if I can.....because I am not at all skilled in pvp, not even to the level where I can expect or even hope for a win, same goes with duels btw. So becuse my lack of pvp skill, my lack of knowing ALL the "maps" and onjectives...and because I rarely if ever venture there I have yet to learn any of the maps.......and this is what the game intended. It did not in any way intend for those unhappy with content to "have a right" above anyone else. Now I do not think you fall into this category, or I hope you don't but it is these players that are the poison and it is becuse of these players and this "wrong" mindset wr have people that throw matches on purpose to make statements
  11. yes the player base have bradened, BUT the game is still designed around a pve story design and not a open pvp design. If we look at what we actually have it makes zero sense.........if we disregard for a little the GSF and WZs ( and ranked pvp) we are left with a couple of contested areas, no longer genker infested I think............I stay away from the plague so I do not know. In PVE alone we have a dueling option, this IS PVP, but with game mechanics different that in WZs. Here you gear is not hurt, and you are down, but not dead. So in stead of allowing the full monty on dueling which would make sense, they decided to make another pvp engine and mix up the two.......no wonder it is messed up. However back to topic.....................ALL MMOS that are PVP ONLY have a lot of players for a month then dies..... ALL MMOS that are PVE with a "side feature" PVP last for years, some even decades...............so to me this means PVE has a bigger player base than PVP.
  12. Indeed they don't have to be "this level" of opposites.......but this what it is and I am trying to understand why. Let's look at the quick travel and open area pvp as is still in the game. I began playing on a pvp server, wanting the little added challenge of risking things LATER in the game. This does not mean that I as lvl 30ish are in any way interested in being attcked on random by a lvl 55, 60 etc just because I am on a mission that brings me into a disputed area. By the way there is still a cooldown if you are new enough to not have it fully unlocked in legacy. Add the fact that in PVP people will cheat if they can, because they can, so to prevent this SWTOR made a descition that prevented growth in population. They decided to allow the pvp flag button to work in the following way. Once flagged.....even from game bugs and the like aka you didn't choose to unflag, you had to wait 5 minutes in a zafe area to be allowed to turn it off, yet no cooldown to turn it on. I would argue that doing the reverse would still prevent this from being used to cheat in pvp, and still make it "genk free" for the other players out there. So you can turn OFF flag freely, with zero cooldown, but IF you do you have a 5 minute cooldown to turn the flag back ON...........this will "save" the intended players..pve-ers from leaving the game. Now I opted to subscribe to get HK-51, doing so I had to go through a open pvp area. That is ok, IF the mission info had said this is a pvp mission, but nothing like this was informed about. So I was not pvp geared, as I was not in any way wanting to pvp........I was attacked on sight by camping PVPers.....preventing me from getting what I paid for in the game. I had at the time a low level legacy and had a 20m or 10m cooldown on the QT, I could not simply qt to a nearby place and stay the flag cooldown........ I qt to a safe zone, I let the cooldown go before I leave......you never know....some may take it as me being interested in pvp........so this now forces me to NOT play for the duration i a game I paid to play. So I returned, only to be killed again................now with an even longer cooldown Eventually I managed to PAY someone to basically guide me through the area and I never saw a reason to return. I made a mistake of following the game as "given" when missions pop up and you are leveling, even the pvp "introduction" is something to at least try once................no it is not, in fact I advice new players to never ever go pvp unless they have years of experience from other games in pvp alone. I enter with the gear I have, I don't care at all about the broken bolster, so I don't care about gear. I enter with a mindset that to me winning or losing are concepts beyond my skill level, so I focus on trying to simply DO....again this backfires on ME through mean chats, hating etc............by PVP skilled players that somehow sees it as a right given to them by EA/BW that becuse they are unhappy with ranked content then their "level of competitiveness" is by default the rule and they use this as an argument. I say they have no such right, they should not expect any level of anything, and IF they pug into a group with players that seem to do everything wrong on purpose.........then accept it, PUG again and odds are you will have abetter group. However in order to grow in skill, you have to WANT TO, and being hated on for having ZERO skill by players with inflated expectation in the wrong place is not makeing me at least WANT TO. Now if I were to try to dedicate ONE full day, usually 4-6 hours to ONLY PVP I would grow somewhat in skill, at least until I have a pause long enough to forget everything..... If I were to do this on SWTOR, I would not want to complete the day.....some pvpers that have never been outside the start planets and fleet have decided that becuse THEY re unhappy with content I have to follow their rules and not the rules of the game that actually invites me with ZERO skill to try Now naturally one should always try, doing anything and not trying is simply dumb...... But I may be trying my darndest, and I may be seeing results as my skill is so low that even managing an attack is a feat by itself, let alone a defense...... However if my skill is so low that no matter what I am either very much too late, or do everthing wrong, the other PLAYERS naturally will not if I am this bad, or if am a troll........and they then generalize and decide I am a troll. Now If was only allowed to be so bad my team ONLY ever loose and people would accept this and shut their yapps, then I would be happy to begin pvp again, but I had enough trying for 5 days in vain getting the HK ( before paying someone to help), I had enough having pugged into 8 different WZ, not having the time to learn either only to be chewed out for doing wrong......... Now if a certain playerbase realized what game they play....a PVE game then I am sure I would love to want to pvp again. As to now I am of the firm mind that I have right to loose, even cause a loss in unranked ( introduction) WZ, and not get a single comment other than 100% accptance. To compare: I am pugging a group for an operation.......All my guys are lvl 60+ it then turns out 4 are new to the game having used a token, and or master's datacron, they have zero knowledge of the operation..... I decided to PUG, so I then accepted the outcome, in this case a clueless group and not the experience I wanted....so I talk to my guild, or my friends and do not pug, do not get into randomness. and with zero consquenses for a loss the win at all cost thing seems silly to me, I can actually attain MAX valor rank and never win a single fight ever.....................so the win at all cost thing is at best mildly stupid
  13. It is a "lazy" way, but considering the game is designed as a pve game with a "minor" pvp feature, we see constant needs to balance out abilities to "satisfy" the pvp feature. Every one of these changes affect PVE, but by applying a separate PVP spec many of the balance issues can be resolved without also changing the pve. IF the game was designed as a pvp game, then I quite sure there would be no need for the "broken" bolster, nor any need for any "added gear" with extra stats, like the old added expertise. I see no real difference between the "duel" option all done in pve gear, and a pvp fight.........the difference as it seem to me is that the duel don't kill like pvp do, but that is about it.........also an "easy" fix I would assume. Now had the game been designed with open pvp, or even a focus on the pvp features I would welcome and agree with most of the changes, but the game is designed as and devolped as a PVE game with a feature.... Now think if we had a town, the townn has roads and a little speed ring for the racer drivers........would it then make sense to adapt the town roads to match the race track? No it would not So it will not make much sense to focus on a feature of a game at the cost of the whole when the game was designed to keep the feature as just that....a feature
  14. I think the "easiest" thing is to allocate one spec for pvp
  15. Some of the classes actually do not belong as "members" of their faction- Smuggler and Bounty Hunter have no "reason" to be part of the factions, and as the galaxy's "criminal" elements they should maybe a separate faction...?
