  1. I find most people always have to say something like this in regards to the Sith. "It's not evil because .... " It's like saying "It's not drinking and driving because ... " "It's not stealing because ... " Generally, I find that when you need to apply that reasoning you're usually wrong. Not always, but usually.
  2. To me this is working as intended, with the caveat that our threat should work off of hits vs damage. DPS should have to be careful about pulling threat unless there's a lot of other things for them to worry about in the fight. Excellent point
  3. Commando's are neanderthals and Vanguards are awesomer. Unless you're a medic, then you're pretty amazing. I think we can all agree that we are far better than Jedi. We eat them for breakfast.
  4. Maybe, but it is excellent game design. These things are balancing acts, perhaps you want to play a game where you are the only person who gets to experience the Great Hunt win. It's great for you... not so great for every other person playing. Because being "pretty good" at something is fine for real-life. In a game, I want to be a hero. Especially when the fundamental difference between me and the next guy boils down to time and box purchase date. Yup they did, they made an MMO with a story focused player experience which is focused on your character. Like they said they would do. About a million times. People want to be Luke or Han. People can settle for being Wedge, maybe even Commander Cody. Very few want to be stormtrooper 57 for long If you want RP, then work around it. Take the story for what it is, a great theme park.
  5. If you haven'y read it before, I highly recommend you read Starship Troopers by Robert A. Heinlein. Aside from being one of the best Sci-Fi books out there, it sums your question up nicely at two different points. Of course I don't actually have the quotes handy. One of them referenced the army making war as personal as a punch in the nose. The other was a question of scale.
  6. Check out the timeline. http://www.swtor.com/info/holonet/timeline To the general populace the Republic are bloody minded butchers, the Empire populace has some fairly good reasons for this line of thought.
  7. This is hands down the best way to go. It'll take a few hours to get used to it, but once you do you'll never go back.
  8. I see one team doing lots of healing... the other not so much. I also don't see where the levels are visible, maybe I'm dumb. It looks like the big difference is they had two healers, and everyone who could heal at all threw one out when needed.
  9. I tend to agree. Perhaps not with the selfish, but generally PC needs outweigh NPC needs Devils Advocate : considering that a companion is a big part of your game: In effect, they are what allows us to be role specialized and still quest/solo without Bioware making things super easy. I would suggest that the above is a fair statement. If you intend to do that, you must ( MUST! ) indicate it before you start working to the objective. That way everyone's on the level.
  10. The problem isn't the server. It's the world PVP community, they are their own worst enemies. One side will gain a numbers/level advantage and mercilessly gank/zerg the other side until the losing side leaves in frustration ( losing all the time just isn't fun ) except for a few masochistic fools . Fast forward 3 months... all of the gankers will be screaming about how Bioware " hates world-pvp" or " has forgotten about pvp" My response at that time will be as always - " You reap what you sow" Good world pvp takes a great level of commitment from BOTH sides to make work. Occasionally you may want to not kill the lowbie, or if you outnumber 10 -1 you may want to leave folks alone after you've killed them a couple times. Players transfering off are your second worst enemy. PS - Bioware: server forums could help.
