  1. Yet another person who will rage on the forums until someone agrees with his point of view, rather than listening to what others say. Yes it sucks, yes they made a mistake. I'm sorry you lost your name. Whinging on the forums, however, achieves what? Either speak with your wallet and un-sub, or move on.
  2. Ah fair enough, so basically it's just to sell or gear companions. Got ya, cheers
  3. To achieve what? Those same ungeared alt's can just level 50-55 in the provided quest and drop gear, like new fresh 50's. These comm's do not help at all at 55, that's what Basic comms are for.
  4. Can't believe people still aren't getting this. The level cap raise is included with RotHC NOT 2.0. 2.0 could be released 12 months before RotHC and you would still not be able to get to 55.
  5. They've already stated there is going to be a seamless gearing progress from fresh 50 (pre-tionese) into 51-55 using drops and quest rewards, just like 1-49. So, my question is, WHY bother stock piling these? They don't achieve anything unless you want to be overly geared for the new content which will trivialize it until it catches up at 54ish.
  6. That's correct, in the example I posted I didn't buy a single legacy exp perk or use any exp boosts (aside from the single minor one I get for free from something....the $5 digital upgrade maybe?)
  7. On my latest char i did every class quest, bonus quest and side quest, including the heroic 2+'s which i solo'd but not that Heroic 4's. I did not do any warzones, space missions or flashpoints. I was so far ahead that once I finished Hoth I was able to immediately start the Hoth bonus series (translates to about 6 levels ahead). I can't see how missing 2 lots of bonus series (which are really only 5-6 quests each anyway) would translate to such a huge disparity. I have no idea how you are so far behind, as with everyone else this really stumps me. I would not suggest re-rolling. As others have said, I would do all the space dailies that are green or higher for you at the moment each day. They really do reward quite a lot of XP for the time invested and you should catch up pretty quickly. EDIT: That said, you are probably in the unique position of actually being able to see Corellia and Voss properly, as everyone else usually hits 50 on Belsavis or shortly after and only does class story on Corellia
  8. Considering that 6 items are schematics (2x implants, ear, belt, bracer, OH) and that it's not feasible for EAware to assume everyone has the crew skills necessary to craft them all, it's pretty safe to assume that these will be BoE and therefore purchasable as soon as you find some on the GTN. Let's also assume for the moment that you easily cap 200 commendations whilst leveling and doing dailies as soon as you hit 55. Now say we buy the chest as soon as we hit 55 for 150 comms. That means 7/14 slots can be filled in the first week of hitting 55. Saying that relic's are required to run HM FP's is ridiculous, we all know that at best they are a minor increase and you will be able to do the new HM's with campaign/DG that everyone will carry over from 50 anyway, so there's another 2 slots. From Dulfy's screenshots there are no MH, hands or feet items on the basic comms vendors, meaning presumably that you will acquire these items some other way, my guess would be Heroic 4 rewards at 55. That leaves only 2 slots missing in the first week after hitting 55, head and legs. If you are saying that it is impossible to do HM FP's because 2 of your items have level 61/63 mods instead of 66 then you should probably just quit now. Even if that was true, during the second week after capping comms you would sit at 250/400 (200 cap + 50 remaining from original amount) meaning you could buy both the head and legs (120 + 120 = 240). To claim it requires 70 days of grind to be ready for new HM's is just pure fallacy and is beyond a pointless whine. At worst you are looking at 2 weeks tops to be ready to run the new HM's. Even if the items from schematics are NOT BoE, you will more than likely acquire comparable items from drops/quests - even now those slots are filled in via free pvp gear because you don't get them with Tionese comms - and you certainly don't need to grind dailies to get the Rakata ones just to run current HM's.
  9. No worries, use it quick because this guide becomes useless in patch 2.0 with the sweeping changes to the skill trees
  10. It's not really a good time to ask this question. With the imminent level cap raise to 55 and massive changes in skills, skill trees and potential builds no-one really knows how it is going to pan out just yet. You would be better off holding out until 2.0 land's to get an exact answer (or at least until we get some feedback from those on the PTS). At this point it's only going to be guess work and any firm answer given for the current meta game is only going to be valid until 2.0 goes live. You could very well find that whatever you are told to take now turns out to be nerfed into oblivion in 2.0 and essentially useless. I would give it a week or two for the PTS raiders to try things out and give their feedback.
  11. It's a step in the right direction at least. Still not quite there but definitely better than previous.
  12. To cut down on the wall of text I'm going to do a TL;DR post. Mistakingly spent Tionese comm's on survivor gear assuming I could tank and gear up. Apparently no-one want's Tionese geared tanks in group finder, so now I need to make a DPS set to progress. a) Is the 4-pc bonus absolutely vital for HM FP dps? (Not OP's - I assume it is vital there) I plan to use the comm's to buy tank gear so I can eventually tank so I won't be getting the set bonus any time soon. b) If not, this is what I have managed to piece together quickly with stuff from my bank - is it enough to DPS in HM's or should I get some other stuff first? Profile (I will replace the blue enhancements with purples before queuing) c) I plan on buying an advanced resolve hilt 27 asap and throwing it in the saber - I am assuming this is a good move and will be the biggest dps increase I can do at this stage? Thanks in advance
  13. What exactly are you trying to gear a level 18 in that costs more than you make from the dailies?
  14. The problem I see it is the hand-holding and instant gratification that MMO's need to cater to these days to keep players in a now highly competitive market. Some things I loved about EQ1: No quest markers - You found quests yourself, you read the quest description yourself, you worked out how to do the quest yourself, you found the mobs yourself and you traveled there yourself. If people couldn't be bothered, they could grind. All quest markers do is make people lazy, which in turn makes them watch tv/do something else while trying to play. This completely kills the immersion. No auto map - You explored the world YOURSELF. MMO's don't seem big when you can press M, open the map and see exactly where the boundaries are. When you are exploring randomly, with no idea where you are you can actually get LOST and immerse yourself. When you are exploring a dungeon and all you have is a paper map you have printed out you get to actually feel like you are exploring, not just running to the exact spot you need to be for your quest. Slow leveling - Leveling took months, it was an effort and it weeded out the terribad's. You got to actually feel like you accomplished something by max leveling. In every MMO I have played since Everquest I have hit max level within a few days and gone "great, now the gear grind starts". How can you immerse yourself in a world when you only see the majority of it for a few days before sitting in the endgame town/fleet/capital waiting for raids and hard mode dungeons. XP loss on death - This ties in with above, but an actual punishment for death made leveling slower and increased the skill cap of the community. People who caused deaths were quickly shunned, and even quicker they quit because they couldn't progress. High end groups you could almost always guarantee were going to be full of people who knew what they were doing. It made for a much better end game because you didn't resent half your party because they were terrible but you were stuck with them because you have to get this dungeon run done. All that said, there are also things about Everquest that I didn't like that newer MMO's are catering to: Instances are fantastic - no more fighting over bosses between guilds etc. Solo content is great for those who don't necessarily have time to find a group. TL;DR - MMO's will never be the same as they were because the market now is hugely competitive and has evolved to be a mainstream part of the gaming community. They therefore need to cater to the greater masses and provide reasons to stay like hand-outs and instant gratification. This comes at the cost of immersion which it seems todays gamers aren't even interested in anyway. All they want is to be better than everyone else.
  15. They think the armour models are spectacular too ..... Super secret space project is probably putting spikes and antenna all over the PC ship's.
