I haven't actually used the AH yet - so it works cross-faction in TOR then?

Has anyone had any experience with this, and whether it's possible or not? Reason I'm asking is because my Republic character has now gotten two different recipe discoveries from his tradeskills (Underworld Trading), and both of those are empire recipes - For Sith Warrior and Bounty Hunter specifically - So while I can learn them and craft the items, there is no way I'd be able to use said items on my Republic characters.
