  1. Ya know, I really didn't miss the sound as much as I thought I did. Can you remove it again? Seriously though, thanks for adding this back in! Now I can stop trying to recreate the sound with a slide whistle.
  2. Or you could shop around for the Orange gear, which is moddable. Just make sure you get the right armor class (Light, Medium, Heavy). You can find a couple pieces at the Equipment Commendation vendors for each planet, the PVP vendors, the Light/Dark side vendors, as well as sometimes finding good deals on the Galactic Trade Network. Keep in mind with the orange stuff; it can be expensive to maintain (getting a full set of mods every couple levels) so you might want to have a crew skill that can make the mods. Also, a level 10 orange and level 50 orange will end up with the same stats when given the same mods - it's just aesthetic differences. Until level 50, this is the way to go if you can afford / support it. Having full blue mods will be as good as, or better than, anything else out there
  3. Hate to assume the worst, but I wouldn't think you would need to mess with ports for this game to work. I personally have not had to mess with router ports for any games in years - only for p2p file transfer software (uTorrent, etc). And since your Laptop can play the game without a problem, then it stands to reason that the necessary port is already open on the router. Do you have any internet connectivity on this new computer at all? If not, then the problem is not a closed port, it would either be: A. Your new pc is is not picking up the MAC address (Hardware location) of the router, or vise versa - if this is the case, simply reboot the pc and router simultaneously. B. It's possible, although unlikely, that your router has the physical eternet ports shut off, in which case you'd have to find out how to turn them back on (See below for how to access admin options in your router) PS - You could try connecting the PC directly to the modem as well, just to make sure the PC is able to connect. That would also help you to make sure that it is not a closed port in your firewall software on the PC. http://portforward.com/ This website has guides for port opening and forwarding for most routers. Forwarding is a method of setting all traffic on a specific (or range) port to be sent to a specific device on your internal network. If you cannot find your exact model, look for a similar one and follow the guide as best you can. Access portals are usually on the same local IP address among all models of a specific brand. (That is the 192.168.x.x). You can get to that by typing in the address in your web browser. At that point, you would need to login to your router as admin. Common user/pword combos are User: admin / pword: admin, or user: admin / pword [blank]. Then you'll have to find the section that deals with your internal network, usually labelled LAN/WAN, or something similar. You may have a subsection called Port Forwarding. This would be used for just opening ports as well. From there you should see some sort of port list, and you would just add whichever port as an exclusion to the firewall; you shouldn't need to actually forward it to your PC unless you have multiple PCs with the same port being listened to.
  4. Hmm.. with Rift there were 2-3 hour queues on Launch Day.. and that was *before* the login servers went down. As said above, tons of servers with no queues. But those don't fulfill your bandwagon needs, I suppose.
  5. I'm pretty sure that if you got the Digital Deluxe, you should get your bonus items in-game once you enter the key (standard edition already has color stone with the pre-order key), but that *is* just speculation.
  6. Dec. 8th and also still waiting. I'm sure this will be a happy day for all of us, however. =) May the Force be with you's!
  7. Nope, not yet. I'm guessing it won't be until later tonight though - seems a lot of stuff from origin happens after 5pm EST, at least for me. Either way, it won't let you skip EGA or anything; just get you whatever bonus items when you finally get in (if you aren't in already). =) EDIT: I stand corrected. I see above it's for 8AM PST.
  8. If you go into Origin Help (from the site or software) and hit the Call Back option - they will usually call you within a couple minutes. Both times I have used it, I would walk away from computer (and phone) after clicking it, and end up running back in the room to answer their call. Also, they are EXTREMELY helpful. Both times I called them my problem was fixed immediately (One being Orgin account having two xbox gamertags associated and messing up xbox connectivity and Find Friends function; the other being no confirmation/tracking/etc of my Security Key order. I got confirmation on the security key by email while still on the phone with them, during a ~3 minute phone call) Also, I see no reason you cannot cancel today, since release isn't actually until the 20th, and chances are when you pre-ordered you had no idea you were getting the key early. Just don't redeem the key on the website. If it's a non-activated key, you probably have until the 19th to cancel, even if you can only do so by phone.
  9. Just wanted to add: The twitter updates are amazing. @rockjaw (Stephen Reid) and @swtor are doing amazing jobs keeping us informed of whats happening.
  10. I'm not in yet - procrastinated until Dec 8th to pre-order - but I agree 100%! A lot of folks are complaining about this launch, feeling like they got cheated - which makes absolutely no sense. This was a spectacular launch - 4 days until release, and the majority of pre-orders are already in game. Way better than what I expected - getting into EGA on the 19th if at all =). The way they gradually got people in, opening servers as needed, is perfect. Much better than the alternative - millions of players logging in for the first time simultaneously, overloading the servers, and Bioware going into emergency response mode. I'm not sure where they learned it, but 'controlled chaos' seems to be working in their favor.
  11. One small problem with using Beldorian - chronology. SWTOR takes place somewhere around 3643-3641 BBY (Before Battle of Yavin) Beldorians doesn't become a Jedi until 400 BBY, and his death (by Leia's hand) occured in 13 ABY (After Battle of Yavin). You're talking about something that doesn't happen for at least 3200 years. =)
