  1. I just un-subbed today so: 1. Finished class stories( minus chapter 3 smuggler) , Ops and WZ... Doing daily's bores me... daily's + rep grinding bores me ^2. 2. Game bugs/performance continued play erosion. Character responsiveness ( abilities misfiring) and lag spikes the most prominent. 3. CM. I have been gauging how far you take the CM experiment. This last patch crossed the line for me... specially the part about "thanking customers". Best of luck
  2. The amount of money invested on making the game. Here, i found an old link that cites that number at about $ 200M (quick google though) http://herocomplex.latimes.com/games/star-wars-the-old-republic-the-story-behind-a-galactic-gamble/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter&dlvrit=63378#/0
  3. You don't have to. That is not the point. The point was questioning where/how he/she was factually quoting those numbers. I agree with your second sentence as far as say operating income. But I ask you, and it is your opinion, do you think they have payed off their investment?
  4. As a parting customer or Star Wars: The Old republic, I do not approve of the implementation of a reputation system based exclusively on money expenditure.
  5. My text implied I have not seen a strem of.... since TOR went F2P. We had one event since and 2 before? again, aside from what is added onto the CM... nope. So you know for sure we have 700k subs? and you are sure that the 500K subs do not include paying off investments?
  6. You are far reaching thinking that "new non-CM content is paid for with CM cash". There are still subscriptions and that is no drop in a bucket. And RoTHC isn't free either. But really, how much of that money is coming back to to non-CM game? Do you see a substantial amount of content added post CM? Do you see improved CS ? Do you see game engine improvements? Most of what we have seen so far are re-investments into the CM. Still growing the business if you will. And that is fine. That and paying off the investment ( I was under the impression this game was very expensive to make). I feel there is little to no sign of a measurable impact of CM profits on non-CM content. that is a statement from now to the state where RoTHC is at. Other than that, we shall see... So yea, I am not thankful. What I am is bored. Bored of doing daily's. Bored and amused that I am finding arguing with a complete stranger about an insignificant topic more entertaining than ... logging in to do daily's.
  7. Personally, I don't really care for titles or uniqueness. I don't value being one of the few who has an X item or X title. I respect those who do and yes, you have a valid point. However, I would have any event repeat as opposed to getting more/doing more of the same daily's. I'll take rakghouls anyday over a black hole reputation grind ( like voss, space or section X) . If it means new content for many who were not part of the first event, It is good for the game.
  8. I made a post on the other thread and I thought I would repeat more-less what I said there. In essence, I don't think it is profit viable for EA/BW to introduce custom dyes/ coloring kits as consumables. They are enjoying ( and would want to continue to) a good revenue stream from doing the recoloring themselves. Introducing the ability to let us do that would be shooting themselves on the foot. Yes, it could be argued that introducing these system at the cartel market level would be a win-win. I think though the price for such consumable would have to be very high to even match ( let alone offset) what they can do currently by recoloring. Consider also that the cost of pulling mods, augments, and adding augmentation kits is a substantial "credit sink" in endgame. As a player, I would be fine if those credits were reduced to zero. But for EA/BW, that equates to a potential 50 - 80K (low end estimate, assuming augments) of someones game time. And there is inflation of course as well as the impact to crew skills( who really have taken a beating from the cartel market already). There is a balance to attain there and both us players and bio-ware benefit from having a healthy economy . So, for the customization kits to exist, they would have to cost us 1. A high amount of CC to offset the recoloring profits BW could make PLUS 2. An 80K or so credits fee when recoloring to balance the game "sink" economy.
  9. Unfortunately, as much as I would like to see color dyes available in-game, I don't think it is ever going to happen. The simple reason is EA/Bioware is already marketing recolored items quite successfully and extensively through the cartel market. To provide us with the ability to change colors via consumables would go against their bottom line. Now, you could argue they could sell dyes/customization kits through the cartel market but, I just don't think they could net nowhere near the revenue they get from a recolored set vs. a dye. Simply, by making say X number of colors available they loose the opportunity of selling you X * Y recolored items ( Y being the number of outfit items). The only thing I see working would be to make the dyes/customization kits fairly expensive $ ( X colors ) > $ (X*Y) items ! either by direct sale using cartel coins or very low drop chance on packs) so that it would not eclipse sales of BW/EA recolored items. Hope I am wrong though
  10. I am not sure If I am way off ( If so I apologize) but could it have to do with currents server population? I know every time I log in, every US server is running at near full capacity. I imagine that if they implement character transfers there is a risk of overwhelming some servers. If this was the case though, I would think BW could implement a system that caps server capacity and allows only near 1:1 transfers... but it could be messy.
  11. Thank you for your response. I am glad you decided to revise the changes in a timely fashion. I have to warn you however about your generous offer of reducing the cost by 50% from now until the release of the next expansion. As thankful as I am, depending on when the next expansion hits, it may backfire on you. Relatively thinking, we will see the repair cost increase by 2X. Now, overall the case can be made the total cost would be affordable, but the increase may be enough to set up alarms. May I suggest if possible to adapt this offering in a different scheme? Specifically, something that does not involve a drastic change in a negative direction in a 3 month + future. Perhaps a permanent change ( say 10--20%) or Free repairs for the next maintenance cycle and gradual increases every cycle there after( say 10-20%). Again though, thanks for addressing this issue.
  12. It is not right to increase repair costs at the magnitude it affects many people. Whether it was a bug or not it is irrelevant. It is of further irrelevance since fixing this bug has no positive value towards game-play (unlike countless other bugs that should be addressed) . If you feel it affects game-play or our game economy is in a urgent state of hyperinflation... please elaborate. Furthermore, there is ample evidence that if the bug fix would have been the only alteration, repair costs would have increased in the order or 20% or so. That level of increase would have likely not caused much of a reaction. But for many, ironically including your self, repair costs have increased 2X-3X. That is unacceptable. My gripe? I am loosing raid spots because they don't want to/can not login to do dailys to pay for a nights progressions that now costs them 150K+ per repair bill. We wait for what we believed should have been a simple retroactive step from bioware. As someone said, I(we) cannot blame lost subs on repairs. in our case, it is just another drop on a full bucket and... we are at critical mass. You have a simple question for the OP, I have a simple question for you. Why do you care ? Why should you care? The price increase to repairs affects you quite a bit from I can tell. Do you do any progression at all? I can not understand how someone with a head between his/her shoulders would object to a revision to the current repair costs, especially at the magnitude you have been affected. Seriously, what is your motivation? Are you merely interested on imparting moral judgement on others about the value of spending ingame time amassing credits so you can do the things you like ( pay for with real money) ?
  13. Some people don't understand the value of time.... period. When one is able to grasp the age old concept of "time is money" one understands that there is money to be made.... in time. Do you understand that? Do you see where that fits on the context of doing daily's for ingame currency vs. doing activities which you pay real money for to have fun? Yep Money to be made.
  14. Good for you. I respect your dedication and in-game time spent to both max a profession and obtain all in-game currency and mats required to purchase and build all needed upgrades without making use of the Cartel Market. I also understand and respect those who value their game time differently and thus make full/partial use of the Cartel Market. There are folks out there that can make more real money from one hour of real work as opposed to 1 hr of grinding ingame currencies... usual prerogative to purchase from the cartel market... I understand that. There are folks with limited play time due to work, family etc who instead of grinding dailys would rather do OPs with friends or WZs.... I get that. Do you? And there are plenty who rather spend and few bucks because they have them and don't ever look back.. whatever... The point of all this is your choices and capacities to finance the Grade 7 upgrades are not everyone's nor is the game designed that way (hence cartel market). So yea, good job on not using the Cartel Market... but don't expect everyone to follow the same path. My point of what you had quoted ( or rather what followed what you quoted) was that Bioware knows many don't follow your path... hence, profits to be made.
