  1. I don't get it. Every MMO I've played with Warzones it's always this same formula: - Few choices of maps - The map choice determines the game time - ALWAYS objective games, no Team Death match. Now, I like games like MW3, Halo, etc., that specialize in Warzone based PvP, and I perhaps I'm missing something, but why don't MMOs follow that same path, or even just add in a few things. I know for me, I'm already bored of the three maps. Surprisingly enough Huttball is the least repetitive. The side speeders in Alderaan make holding the sidepoints and forgetting the middle too easy once you get a hold of it, and Voidstar is always a one sided blow out. One team is able to defend the other team and when you see that you can tell right away they will just steamroll the other team. Even if there are just a few things changed, or added, I feel it would greatly improve PvP in SWToR. - Get rid of the east/west side speeders in Alderaan. The whole point of making it a longer path to take either east/west for each team was so that the middle would become a focal point; it's not. -VoidStar...I guess the only way to get that better is to have evenly matched teams through the incoming ranked system. - Add a Team Deathmatch esque mode!!!!! Seriously I don't know why this game type has been avoided for so long, its simple but works. - Make More Maps! And allow for maps to play more than 1 game type. - The one thing that shocked me more at release was that there wasn't a way to request a specific map. Lol, I'm sure thats a big one for a lot of people now though. - This may be a little hard, but CoH/V had this with great success...add a lower level Ilum type planet, with a universal bolster system to that particular level. Add in some random objective thing that gives a planet wide advantage to the faction that controls the most points or whatever, but don't allow it to make it easy mode for the faction "winning" More of a commendation grinding tool than something to help you win against the enemy. Some of my best memories of PvP was the alley in Siren's Call where one minute there would be a lone hero just grinding the objective and a couple villians come to gank him, only to have the hero call in reinforcements from his guild and world chat to have the whole zone be engulfed in a mock war near one of the factions bases. - And just my own little spin...Make people move quicker! I feel like the speed one gets with the speed packs is what trained fighters in the Star Wars Universe should be able to go most of the time anyways, so why do I run like I'm pulling a cement truck behind me until level 14? And still feel like an overweight person with it activated? -- TL;DR I feel like new MMOs should take ideas from previous games that were successful / popular and implement them with their own unique spin. Things like team death match and bolstered warzones, as well as being able to choose what type of warzone you want. Is there something about MMOs that I'm missing that these things just cannot be done? Or are people too scared to deviate from the "WoW" (No I never played it, I'm just using it as a reference to the money making formula) formula to do it? --- I'm probably gonna get some "Learn the system" or "QQ moar" or possibly even "Just go play MW3 then..." responses but all I do is PvP, I see PvE as a means to get to PvP, and I much prefer the customization of a MMO and how your accomplishments are "saved/recorded" through your character; I Think that game that says they want to focus on PvP should actually focus on it, and study previous PvP games that were good, instead of just rearrange some obstacles and slap a slightly different objective on it. I do applaud BW for taking an initiative. Best I've seen in all my MMO experience and though I doubt this thread will go noticed, I just wanted to get my thoughts out there.
  2. I put the 1 point into the Juyo because there was no other abilities to put that last point needed to get to the next tier. I did say that I was going to be in Ataru form at all times anyways. Are those top tier abilities really that good? From what I've read, at least the carnage attack is just a slightly better version of Vicious Slash. At level 22 leveling up the Carnage tree I haven't noticed a need for the higher end attacks, I end up spamming a lot of the utility anyways. How exactly is Ataru form bad for PvP? With the defensive form buff it gives an extra speed boost which is vital to chase down foes that have CC and run. Plus its extra damage that is automatically put in without having to push another button.
  3. I've been playing around with a Marauder hybrid build, and I have come up with this. For my purposes I'm building up Carnage first, then Anni, finally Rage. I plan to mostly PvP, and I wanted maximum mobility. Just wanted to know from experienced Marauders what everyone thinks of this. For this build I would also be in Ataru form at all times. http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#100rsroM0MZGMd0dZrr0Mz.1
  4. whats the issue? is stupid easy to get up to 500 valor. just do a couple of matches. My level 18 assassin already has over 600 merc commendations and im back up to around the same in normal pvp commendations.
  5. Ok so the video quality came out a lot worse once it was formatted into the Flash Video Youtube format, I'll have to look into that before I try and upload anything new --- This is mostly just for fun and testing, as all the programs I was using were new and shiny, and the enemy team this match was kindah bad. Tell me what you all think, and please don't kill me for the pixelation http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AlGyJpQAXT4 --- If anyone has any pro tips for converting Fraps vid clips into Youtube, please feel free to tell me. I used Adobe Premiere Elements 10 as well, as for some reason Fraps decided to take a 10 min clip and turn it into 7, 1:15 individual clips.
  6. Exactly, I always hit F to use cover, though recently esp in Huttball I will accidentally jump to a cover on a lower level than what I'm at, so I set my F keybinded to Cover In Place. I'm currently speced engineering, and I am really loving it, and though I havent gotten plasma probe yet, im level 32, I can't wait. I already wreck most everybody that isn't a tank spec in a few rounds and I have zero energy problems, heck, I had this level 38 operative troll me in a huttball for a few matches, and 2 out of 3 times as long as I had decent health when he engaged me I would win. While i never knew about natural cover giving extra benefits (though it does make perfect sense *slaps myself*) the artificial cover is still damn good. You gotta trust it. The trick is to keep spamming your basic rifile shot if they try to round circles around you do aligned yourself for the next attack. Of course even as an engineer build I'm still very mobile, I spam explosive grenade every other GCD
  7. Well here's an answer. Operative/Scoundrel does massive burst FROM STEALTH. STEALTH, if you haven't noticed already, is only completely untargetable after they are 10ish meters away. What does this mean? This means you can attack an Operative/Scoundrel IN STEALTH, OUTSIDE of their MELEE RANGE. How about you learn to look around and quit your tunnel vision on that level 10 you want to troll so badly. There has never been an operative/scoundrel I haven't been able to at least prepare for. Most I am able to either shoot to reveal or PBAoE knockback away or prepare myself for the CC, and I'M A SNIPER, the one class most prone to tunnel vision. You think your safe up on that ledge above the crowds? Never. This is what operatives/scoundrels with a brain look for. How about you be a team player and reveal a stealther when you see one running by, EVEN IF YOU ARE NOT HIS TARGET. Be a team player, even if you just reveal them and go back to your target someone else will surely take advantage of the moment and finish them while they have that operative/scoundrel behind enemy lines. And one side note. If you find yourself without a team member near, or find yourself in a 1 v 2...That's your fault. Even if you end up being the only one fighting them even though you have a team member near, its still better than having no one there, because with your death the blood lust of the operative/scoundrel that thinks they are so op will probably try to catch your team member off guard, only to forget you took away half their health first xD lolzlolz. ----IN SHORT---- *Due to the way stealth in this game operates... Tunnel Vision = Operative/Scoundrel Win. Simple. As. That. PS I hate PvP Whiners. The system works, this ain't WoW, this ain't whatever you were playing before SWToR. This. Is. SWToR!
  8. I'm actually running up lethality, been doin so since level 10, and pvping a ton (around valor rank 30 at level 26) And I am having a blast. As long as you can manage your energy your golden, and in pvp just keep your poisons up. if they run away when they get low just laugh as your DoT kills em before they reach the health boost
  9. I'm currently building up Lethality on my sniper, and I just got corrosive grenade. So far it has been fun, and I am always at the top of the lists for kills and damage. Heck one match I managed to snag 4 MVP votes Poisons are actually really good for mobility, and in warzones like huttball it helps keep the dmg going while you chase down the ball carrier. I personally haven't found myself gimped in anyway for not having instant snipe or any of the marksman iconic abilities, I can still go toe to toe with any melee class at melee range if I use my abilities right. My only complaint so far is my energy. It...kindah sucks. I unload all my cooldowns on to one guy and take him out and turn to the next guy only to find I have only a snipe and a grenade left in me. Now given I have the adrenaline probe but that only gets me through the next guy, assuming he isn't a tank. With that said, Lethality does give a 30 second cooldown reduction to adrenaline, and I can always invest the 2 points in engineering to get additional energy. My end game build is looking something like this at 31 in lethality, 0 in marksmanship, and 10 in engineering. http://db.darthhater.com/skill_calc/imperial_agent/sniper/#::ede9fe2fefe3f21ef4ef5ef4ef I hope to see more people trying outside the norm sniper builds. A lot of those shared trees for all the classes actually look really good.
