  1. Well yah, I'm saying Lord Razer's explanation is kind of a hack. The loss of the watchers I kind of forgot, but still that whole part of the story didn't have to be written in. In the spy genre it's the agency and the agent's relationship with it that provides a bunch of the story. Especially since the story is that you're not a mercenary but clearly working for the government. I think they would have done better to keep it and play up the internal politics.
  2. First off, the number one absolute best thing about the Imperial Agent Story--it was NOTHING like my Jedi Guardian story. Completely different content, completely different characters, completely different motivations, companions, etc. I was worried that each class story was a different person telling me to kill the Emperor, not at all. I think the story overall was really solid, but I was a little disappointed in the ending I got personally. After reading what the other possible outcomes, were, though I think the story is solid. (I handed the Black Codex to the Sith.) The idea of the Star Cabal manipulating galactic events to eliminate both Jedi and Sith is a very compelling premise and they developed it well. The chapters made sense and paced the story well. I liked the Minister and Keeper a lot and felt like they were pulling for me even though they were constantly being pushed around by the Sith. I especially liked chapter 2 trying to get out of the brainwashing. At the beginning I decided I wanted to play my character as a violent sociopathic maverick who was working for the Empire because it was his best avenue to personal power. (Kaliyo and I got along just fine.) I was able to play that out for the most part until about Corellia, where I kind of had to lose the 'maverick' to be more of 'military commander'. The companions were ****** and very well done. Kaliyo was perfect, and I think is the only person that understands Cipher Nine (i.e. his "friend" with a BIG emphasis on the quotes). I think Vector is the only person Cipher Nine trusts, as he's really not an individual more than a faction. (A faction of bugs with no reason to betray him.) The ensign I just wanted to use for sex (see sociopath, above), and Scorpio was also well done and very in-line with how I wanted to play the character (both gameplay as a tank and affection-gain choices). Dr. Loken is the only one I didn't do a whole lot with, he seemed more like a weird roommate. The other possible outcomes I didn't get (marrying Raina, defecting to SIS, using the black codex to blackmail the Empire into a new intelligence bureau) make sense and I kinda wish I'd gotten the last one. I liked the Minister. The bad: --What happened to Watcher X? That could have been played up, a denouement there would have been awesome. --Why the decision to disband Imperial Intelligence? To me that doesn't make sense, because the Empire has been around for thousands of years, and even though you know they're constantly at political odds with the Sith, they're obviously useful. I also didn't like how it forced me out of being a spy and into being a military commander. --I was really hoping Watcher/Keeper would be one of my companions, but oh well. I also wanted to get her into bed, but I hear from trade she's into the ladies? --For my individual ending, Darth Jadus needed to show up at the end. There needed to be more of a reveal as to "why he was in seclusion". I see now that he wasn't a big part of the story because the ending to chapter 1 means he might not be alive, but for my path he needed to be meddling a lot more. Last thing, does the Jedi Guardian story have alternate endings? Can't find any.
  3. Is there a setting to turn it off? I think it's when I switch targets by left or right clicking, or maybe when I'm out of range with an ability. Super annoying, though, it activates the GCD when I'm trying to shank a baddie. Oh and while I'm here...how long does it take to get all the datacrons, and how worthwhile is it?
  4. Yah good answers to my original questions. As a newer player to SWtoR but as an old-time WoW player: --The story is great --The companions are super cool and have a lot of depth --The amount of motion capture and voice acting is amazing But... --The game is buggier than WoW. My sound skips every loading screen, every time I Force Leap I miss 10 frames, and I never ever got stuck in WoW once with over a year /played. --The game had such a high budget but really didn't innovate much --The quests are almost all just "kill this", kind of like WoW before vehicles --When I found out there were no mods I was shocked with disbelief The "bad" reasons above will definitely keep me from raiding, I'd go back to WoW for that because it's so much more polished.
  5. Woe to the dude in trade chat that said there was a new expo in December.
  6. Googled for 20 minutes but kept finding RotHC stuff. Also, I just hit 55 and part of the reason I want to know is to figure out how to spend my time. I'm halfway through Makeb, should I finish? Or should I go to that 55 planet? I'm eventually going to run story mode raids on my Guardian, but I don't care if it's in this expansion or the next. If the next expansion is soon I'll level an alt, if not maybe I'll focus on gear more if it won't go obsolete right away. Different things I can do: --Dread Lord/Macrobinoculars/55 RotHC content, i.e. stuff useful now that might not be useful later --Chase down datacrons/other stuff that might be useful at 60 --Level an Imperial Agent Also what's Sector X and what's on the west half of Ilum?
  7. And don't get me wrong, it's a great story that just chokes at the bery end. Like that one Patriots season where they lost to the Giants. And giving T7 gear is appropriate, but could have been done in a different place to help keep the sense of urgency. It makes sense to not make it so hard that people needed to bring friends, when the story is basically that only you could do it. Still the fight should have had some more interesting mechanics while still being easy enough for children to beat (after dying a bunch of times).
  8. The Jedi Guardian story was so great, I was digging the whole thing, really making me love the game, etc. I really like how much personality the companions have, I like Kira Carsen's spunk in particular, and even though I'm all about efficiency, I decided to keep her as my companion even after I maxed her affection out. So now that the forum preview won't show this, the story was seriously great...Angral, Fulminiss, all these different weird Sith I was tracking down and occasionally redeeming. Raiding the Emperor's Fortress with almost the entire Jedi Council in Chapter 2 was FREAKING AWESOME and it was so fitting that he was so incredibly powerful with the Force there he basically just Force Smacked us and was like..."nice try." So I spend all of Corellia getting ready to take on Master Braga, and there was some decent buildup there with clearing the different weapons in each of those buildings. But then after Braga the whole thing falls apart! The following conversation takes place: You: Master Braga is defeated! Satele Shan: Excellent! Now go take on the Emperor yourself. You: Ok...umm...right. Umm....what about landing there? Satele Shan: We'll send the whole fleet at them. [but you'll be the only one landing. This is the equivalent of Osama Bin Laden trying to land a 747 painted with a bulls-eye on the White House lawn. If the White House lawn was equipped with ICBMs.] You then proceed to storm through the capital by yourself (with no sign of orbital combat in the background), which is about as likely to be covert as Jennifer Aniston walking around ComicCon naked. Satele says "you'll have to fight your way through" or something, but it's just so absurd. Remember that opening scene from Die Hard where Bruce Willis wears that sign before Samuel Jackson saves him? Yah, our characters storming the Emperor on his turf is basically the equivalent of wearing that sign during a rally in Washington D.C. and trying to walk from the Capitol building to the White House unscathed. If the citizens of Washington D.C. could sense your presence with the Force...and if every citizen was also a veteran. So then the dude who was so powerful at the end of chapter 2 that basically defeated the entire Council with a wave of his hand basically rolls over and dies to you and T7. Because apparently T7 is more powerful than the Jedi Council, and the Emperor is tired because you .... killed his minions or something on other planets? Then he collapses the Temple or some madness, and this is part my fault, but since no timer or graphics or anything indicate that the Temple is collapsing I spent a bunch of time in the "collapsing" temple solving the Imperial Logo puzzle. I gotta go to bed, but it should have been like this: There should have been a MASSIVE buildup to assaulting the emperor like all of chapter 2 was, and much more covert or...believable. The fight itself should have been more dynamic. But most importantly, there should have been a MASSIVE SENSE OF URGENCY in the final encounter. Like as soon as you land waves and waves of Sith spawn behind you so you absolutely have to try to get to the Emperor as soon as possible or get overrun. Not a stupid puzzle on the ground that you can sit and look at and try to figure out. Urg...I was digging the story so much but I think they just paced it wrong and by the time all the Jedi Masters were freed they figured you'd be 50 already. Urg.
  9. Ah thank you, I have been wasting my high tier gifts on companions that don't even like me yet. I thought it was tied to my level, not their affection. Seems like this'll be a lot cheaper than I thought. Although I might be missing conversations, I dunno how the hell the dude went from level 46 to level 47 just off talking.
  10. Seems like it'd take about a half a million credits or more to go from 0 -> 10,000, but the missing part of the equation is how much it raises their success rate or reduces their time. Anyone have the math on that? Also I'm Treasure Hunter, which doesn't change things a whole lot because of the opportunity cost of selling the companion gifts on the AH. GTN. WoW.
  11. As I'm creeping toward max level on my first toon I'm finding it harder to sell stuff. I found a couple decent lowbie things that worked for artifice, but I think I'm starting to run into a glut of high-level items, because max-level toons don't need as much gear. I bet Biochem is probably the best, are there flasks and potions like WoW? I knew from WoW that crafting professions were more for fun than money, but any pointers would be appreciated. Also, I'm really liking the story of this game, but...GDI my Jedi should be able to make his own lightsaber. Not T7. Or that tool C2-N2. Or that super tool Doc. Double also I got my first moving violation tonight and that sucks. Except for the part where I didn't get a DUI. That part was cool.
  12. Looking for a huge guild with people of all levels including raid groups. Pacific raiding times after 5 pm a plus, although I have no idea if I'm going to raid or not, only 25 now. I had a year /played in WoW.
  13. Do I have a graphics setting wrong, I can barely read the text on my inventory and skills description. There's not enough space between letters and I can hardly read them. It might just be the way the game actually looks, but I hope not. I can post a screenie after work if needed. I upped the graphics settings to 'high' from the default of 'low'.
