  1. Conspiracy from The Red Eclipse will try to make it, however can't promise anything due to hour.... what is that timezone, 3 am CET if i'm not mistaken?
  2. On our server it's actually very hard for sorcs to get ahead enough of the ball carrier to make the life grip thing useful. I was playing with a sorc friend once, he tried to get ahead of me the entire game, did not work, he kept getting pushed off/killed etc. I've also played with a Merc Healer, who kept me up singlehandedly, while i was unguarded, and without being able to use force speed at advantageous moments all the way from mid to endzone. <-- TankSin
  3. You're thinking of it being "either/or", i'm thinking of a system where i, as a local queuer, could end up in a team with you, who chose to opt in for cross server queue. It's not because you select cross server that you actually have to end up with everybody from a different server. But like i said, there would be queue merges, difficulties, priorities, etc to handle.
  4. Even if that would happen, low pop would at least still have each other. I believe, however, that even a lot of people on high pop servers will go "meh, faster if we do cross" and not particularly care about wanting to group with people of their own server.
  5. I'm afraid it's more problematic than that. Different queues, queue lengths, priorities... its not about how it looks, but the system behind it all Could be interesting to see if they do take something like that though, to make that work well... I would be impressed. Though there'd always be people who would complain, also probably call the "locals" selfish and all those names thrown here at people who don't want a LFD tool at all Speaking of, shouldnt it be LFFP?
  6. You meet the most polite people on here <3 I'm sorry if my meaning is a bit confusing at times, i'd like to use the excuse that English isn't my first language (which it isn't), but it's a simple fact i'm horrid at explaining what and how i think, in any language Admittedly, my current experience with group forming is from The Red Eclipse, which is one of the biggest EU servers, and on top of that i'm Empire side. Though i also havent really bothered looking for a group either, after my past experiences i'm hesitant to pug until content can be done blindfolded, but i'll get around to it soon enough, especially since now, i'll be the tank... (<insert maniacal laughter>) Most common seems to be that im playing warzones, and inbetween them i see somebody still looking for 1 person, jsut as they were doing 4 warzones ago. I don't like the current system, but i don't believe cross-server will make a positive difference for anyone except maybe low population servers and non-peak hour players. I would be perfectly fine with a mix where you could opt out of the cross-server, but not the local server. Though the system could be quite messy to fix up (prioritising local or cross? And more i cant think of right now since its 2h30 in the morning, had them an hour ago though), it could be an option so that everybody will have what they desire.
  7. I admit it's been a while, and "hours" is an exageration, but whenever i, as a dps, used the cross server-tool, i expected to have a wait time of at least 30-45 minutes. The Real ID for me was used to stay in touch with RL friends and people i got close to online, it's not something i'm randomly going to give out to people simply because i thought they played well and enjoyed their company. Also at the point i played, it was only possible to use it for talking, i didn't know they went further there. People i've met so far in SW:tOR are chattier during random things than they were in WoW, they give compliments on good play, ask about your class, how you are liking the game (admittedly, that last question is quite common for new games). They seem very curious about the notion of an assassin tank /sigh From all i've heard from others and seen, people are simply more interested in each other now. This might also be because SW:tOR hasn't jsut got old WoW players, but also the ex-SWG crowd, people who play MMOs for the first time, etc. It's a mix of people. The reasonable amount of time would pass without a doubt, unless i contact people i already know, friends, guildies, and they contact their friends. But for that, they need to be online, available, etc. The chances of getting a full FP group together through General while there is a LFG system (which is more convenient and wouldn't just reach out to people in whatever area you're in) is so silly you might as well just use the tool. Yes, but not in the same way, and definately to a lesser extent.
  8. Taken part in another post on this subject (http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=204696&page=7) and going to make a collage of various things i said there TLDR version: Yes for LFD tool, no for cross-server anything. Edit: Removed quote tags so it's easier for people to tell me i'm wrong Even with cross-server LFG, it easily took hours for dps to actually get in one, might as well have stuck to server only there. I prefer server only FP finder (/preparing to be yelled at now). If people were good players you could stay in touch, meet people etc. Most cross-server lfd groups i've done were done in stony silence. Except when somebody did something wrong, then there was "omg you idiot". What also happened quite often is that you ended up with people from the unofficial Russian or whatever server, and they'd be chattering in some random language between them and you'd jsut sit there going "...eyup..." And kicking people who were bad/jerks? Please, you couldnt afford that if they were a tank or healer, beause then it would be another hour of waiting, and as somebody mentioned earlier, especially the tanks knew that and easily yelled at people, blaming them for their own mistakes, etc.... The only place where cross-server might've done some good was pvp, but even then it was kinda sad not being able to joke around anymore with people you knew, being all like "hur dur i killed you", because the chances of seeing them would be.... yeah, lets not go there. If you play on off-peak hours on your server, has it ever occured to you that they will also be off-peak on other servers? Unless of course they throw the world together, which seems rather messy. Though i do admit there would be a better chance of getting a group then. Part of the fun of playing an MMO is meeting new people and keeping in touch with them, in cross-server things, that doesn't happen. Unless you've gotten cosy enough that you're exchanging e-mails in the period it took to finish (or fail) the fp, and even then you wouldnt really be playing together. The only new people would be new people in your guild, or maybe during leveling, something which eventually does stop if you're not an alt person. Meeting new people is, for me, something which keeps the game interesting. If that gets taken out... Well, i won't quit until the game holds no interest whatsoever for me anymore, but it does make it more boring. And i repeat: No, yelling LFG in a chat channel for 4 hours is not required for that, i agree it'd outdated and annoying, and it does not do anything for any type of "community" since the most words exchanged there are "LFG/LFM" and if you're lucky "inv". I edited my original post with a comment on the article you linked, probably while you were writing your post Edit2: The article you linked equates a LFG tool with the cross-server version. This is just 1 version of it, and arguably the worst. There are other versions. A LFG tool isn't needed, no, but it's something that could make our time off better without having any bad consequences, if it's done right. I know about scheduling, i was in a hardcore guild, we've actually tried it on and off in my current guild, and one of the officers vaguely mentioned something about doing some regular scheduling soon now we're starting to get more 50s, funnily enough, our problem is a lack of dps though Scheduling is good i guess, but there will always be conflicts. 1 of our 2 healers can't play weekends, there's a tank/dps couple who i've never seen online seperately.... There's always something. It also feels ridiculous to ask the leaders of a casual guild to go on a recruit drive. The way we recruit is "oh, hey, you seem to have the right attitude, feel like joining us?". For a guild as ours, that's a perfect way to do it. I'm not asking you for suggestions on what to do, i'm explaining my situation, one that isnt so uncommon, to hopefully make you understand that a LFG tool doesn't NEED to be bad. With proper design it can be a very useful tool making life easier for a lot of people. Including you, who might otherwise have problems finding people with good enough gear and/or FP experience for raiding

  10. I made friends over the years as well, not many of them moved to swtor, and those who did aren't 50 yet, i also joined a very nice and lovely guild. A CASUAL guild, we don't have many lvl 50s, the people who aren't 50 yet are in no hurry to get there, and were not going to pressure them either. We also help each other out, and having a LFG tool is not going to stop that. If you believe your guild will turn into that simply because of a useful tool, then maybe you should be more picky of what you let in your guild. And would you punish people who don't get to play much, are shy, haven't met many people yet, are in a small guild which maybe can't do those runs, etc, simply because you're in a "moderate to hardcore" guild which has the people and the time to do this? The friends i made in game are so far either lower level than me (guildies), or pvpers i joke around with when we fight together/against each other. I met some of those people through a lfg system - the warzone queue. I don't see why the same shouldn't be possible for FPs (though not cross-server /shudder). Edit: Did you seriously just compare people wanting a LFG tool to people not believing in climate change? Edit2: The article you linked equates a LFG tool with the cross-server version. This is just 1 version of it, and arguably the worst. There are other versions.
  11. Of course an FP finder would be better than the current system, didn't i say that? I'm sorry if i was unclear, i was just trying to point out that the people who were saying it's optional were wrong. I would just dislike a cross-server one, though i would use it as long as i need it to upgrade gear (but not longer). Though i do admit there would be a better chance of getting a group then. It sucks for you, and i know i wouldn't like to be in your shoes myself, but personally i wouldn't want a cross-server dungeon/warzone finder. And it wouldn't be optional, at least not for pvp. And even for pve, if your friends aren't online or doing something else, and you still want to better your gear or have some quick fun in a fp, there you go... Optional my behind -_- You're telling us that we want you to play the game we want it, but you're doing exactly the same. And to be fair, both sides seem rather rude about it.
  13. Aye, the reason i give to healers is because i jsut go "well, they keep people alive - more surviving, better chance of winning" I'm not entirely sure how objective score is assigned, i've had games where i felt i wasn't very useful and had a high objective score, other games where i felt that i did a lot towards the objectives, and i had low score. Not going to give MVP vote to people when i don't know what they did to deserve it.
  14. Leavers are also often annoying for the people who get put in in place of them. Had an Alderaan game once, we won quite overwhelmingly, shortly before the win, most of the enemy team left, and got replaced. Those people who came in were just on time to see us win, didnt have a chance to fight back, get commendations, anything. Speaking of commendations, i assume that the mvp system is aprtly there to make up for commendations. However, unless you stand out, most people give their MVPs to top healer (what i do), or somebody who already has tons of commendations (which doesnt mean that person can't be the MVP). Or of course don't give an MVP at all I actually work to stand out when i'm playing a warzone since being a tank and not always being able to guard due to others guarding or being away from others, i rely on MVP votes to make up for it. Pity it still doesn't always work, and if i replace a leaver, i can't get those votes.
  15. I have no problems anymore with receiving mail, only the first mail i ever sent her (with the credits from my old char) got lost. Maybe try sending some random grey item first, if that doesn't arrive, keep the items/credits on an alt until you are sure you can receive mail?
