  1. I think his point is that all the various mods/amoring/enhancements for each piece of Campaign gear can be cobbled together buy purchasing various pieces of Black Hole gear and stripping the mods and putting them into the appropriate piece of gear. Which could mean that a Sentinel DPS would have to purchase a piece of Scoundrel Healer gear in order to find the same mod that the Sent DPS would get in his Campaign gear. (That was just an example I made up, I have no idea what mods are in what gear, especially for classes other than my own.) I think that's what he is referring to anyway. It would be possible to Frankenstein your Black Hole coms into the correct configuration of Campaign gear. But that's beside the point that it would take forever to do, be expensive as heck, and it would still benefit you to run Denova in order to get as many Black Hole coms as possible.
  2. I'm just curious how it would impact you in any way, shape, or form then. So they have the same gear, who cares? It doesn't mean they are as good as you or are clearing the same content as you. Literally, unless the only reason you play the game is to make sure you have better gear than everyone else, it shouldn't matter. It's not like they are using it for an advantage against you in PVP. Then I could see a problem with that. It is kind of amusing that this thread starting out with the idea that nobody would have to run HM EC to gear up for the next tier of content, when in reality you just want to make sure you and yours are better geared than the "less skilled" players.
  3. Or you could flip that and say that perhaps those "hardcore" addicts who spend 20 hours a day chewing through endgame content picked the wrong game. From the beginning, Bioware made it known that this was going to be a story-driven mmo. Not a raid-driven mmo. Not a pvp-driven mmo. It was always going to have a heavy emphasis on re-rolling alts, companions, and story. In all honesty though, I do hope you find the game you are looking for.
  4. Some people need a carrot on a stick and digital goodies in order to feel rewarded/compensated for the perceived effort they put into a video game. Other people are happy with the activity itself and the time spent with like-minded individuals as its own reward. I prefer the latter group of people. And by the way, there is nothing hardcore about sitting at your computer playing a video game. I wish people would stop saying that they're "hardcore." If that was the case I'm a hardcore television watcher; I can click that remote with the best of 'em.
  5. Basically the first thing I would recommend is to have a very specific goal in mind for your guild. You need to offer or focus on something unique from other guilds in order to attract players. Whether that be Endgame PVE, World PVP, Ranked Warzones, Levelling, Crafting, or even just Social. The more specific purpose your guild has, the better chance you have of getting the type of players you want. If you just say "we are pvp guild" why would they join yours over the litany of other pvp guilds. What makes you unique. Have an application. Any application. Just something to weed out the people who can't even be bothered to take 5 minutes to tell you about themselves. We basically use it to make sure the applicant's expectations are in line with our guild's goals. It doesn't have to be an intensive background check, just a couple questions to get to know the player a little bit. I would say a website is required. It makes communication between members much easier. The recent character transfers are a great example of the benefits of a site. Those who have sites will find it much easier to coordinate the guild migrations because of the various issues that arise. Stuff like name changes, getting coordinated to get your guild charter, etc... You don't need anything fancy, just something with forums, really. Voice chat would depend on your guild. If you are aiming for high-end PVP or PVE content, voice chat is almost a requirement. Being able to communicate instantaneously is important. If you don't do that stuff, you might not need voice chat, but it wouldn't hurt. I've never done it in other games, but I've found that I enjoy the people I play with enough that I hop in our voice chat almost every time I log in to the game just because I want to shoot the breeze with them. I wouldn't worry about officers until you get big enough that you start to feel like you are doing more work for the game than you do playing it. And typically the people that really want to be officers shouldn't be the people given power. If they want to be officers, there has to be a reason. You want to look for the people who contribute to the guild in a meaningful way without being prompted or asking to be rewarded. And you usually have to approach those players and ask them to take on the responsibility. If they seem reluctant, don't bother them. They aren't any use to you if they don't want to be there. If they are OK with the idea, then make sure you have a specific set of duties for them (such as raid leader, recruitment, quartermaster, etc...). Just try to make sure you don't step on other guilds' toes. Don't ninja other guild members. If you gain a member who just recently left a guild, talk to the previous GM about it to make them understand you didn't ninja that member. Make sure your members represent your guild tag in the manner you want them to. That kind of stuff. Hope that helps. )
  6. I had the same problem. Mine was caused because my Joomla template uses a white font, so it looked completely washed out when I first uploaded RaidPlanner. I added these lines to the bottom of my template.css file: You can access your template.css file by going to Extensions > Template Manager > Templates > "Your Template" Details and Files > Stylesheets > Edit css/template.css What this SHOULD do is change the background color of the pop-up window. I think that's all I did. Instead of color: #75151a (kinda dark red) you might want to use something like #1f1f1f (dark greyish). Just pick a color that is a dark blue or white. You can always change the class colors. You can see what this changes by clicking here and opening an event: http://www.omegacompany.netii.net/index.php/raidplanner Otherwise if you keep having trouble, I would visit the author's site, he typically responds pretty quickly. Hope this helps!
  7. ^ Zen master. There is no free will, we are all slaves to the almighty RNG.
  8. Sage - Balance spec is routinely our top dps in our 8 man group. Also, it's pretty easy to find information about specs, gearing, and rotation, including parses if you spend a couple minutes to find it. I'll even give you a hint: try looking in the class forums.
  9. Hey, just wanted to say that our guild has been playing around with this site after trying Ask Mr. Robot's Combat Log Viewer. We just couldn't always get everyone's log merged on that site. DPS Meter seems to be easier and more idiot proof to upload and merge logs, and it provides an incredible amount of information. One thing that I would like to see, and perhaps it's not possible with the current way combat logs are implemented, but I would like to see the amount of "overhealing" done. Thanks for the great tool!
  10. darkrushdi, Try this one and let me know if it works: http://www.mediafire.com/?9o98h06oyf4582c Make sure you uninstall the old one first by going to the Extension Manager > Manage > Find SWTOR Boss and Uninstall it.
  11. Hey, for those interested in the SWTOR Boss Module translated to French, can anyone send me the French names of the bosses for each Operation, or direct me to a website that has them all written in French so I can copy the names correctly? I want to make sure it's correct, as things don't always translate directly, and my other option would be to use Google Translate. I took these from the French version of swtor.com: Eternity Vault: La Chambre de L'Éternité Karagg's Palace: Palais de Karagga Explosive Conflict: Conflit explosif I just need the boss names, and I can roll out the French version for those interested. Thanks.
  12. I'm sure it is that easy. I was just pointing out that at times a small guild, especially those that run 8 man, might not have the "dps taunt the tank" option. Also that other methods are viable, and that you aren't "dumb" for doing it the way it works for your group. Especially if you have limited options. And I was really talking more specifically about the issue of tank swapping causing a massive influx of damage do to eating both of the frontal aoe attacks, which shouldn't happen. If the swap as soon as Firebrand starts casting Incinerate Armor, both tanks should be in position. Worst case scenario, Stormbrand's aoe hits both tanks, but you should never be "eating 2 frontals each." If they are, your tanks need to be quicker on the swap. That's perfectly fine, but I never even addressed doing that in my post, so I'm not sure what you're replying to?
  13. It's really not. If you swap immediately when Firebrand starts casting Incinerate Armor, your tanks should be in position and switched by the time the cast finishes, and you won't run into the situation you described where both tanks eat the frontal aoe abilities. I'm not saying that the way you are doing it is wrong or the tank-swap method is better. But there is more than one way to skin a cat, and calling alternate methods "dumb" just because it isn't the way you do it doesn't help. For instance, in smaller guilds that run 8 man content, they might not always have a Guardian/Shadow/Vanguard dps in the group to taunt Firebrand after the Double Destruction cast. With most of these encounters, there isn't 1 set-in-stone way to do things. Group composition is a big factor as well. People should just get ideas, and try them to find out what works best for them
  14. darkrushdi, Yeah, I definitely didn't alter the module for use other than English. I can get around to a French version, but I'm not sure when I will have a chance to get to it. Should be within the next couple days, maybe within the week, tops. I can send you a PM on this site whenever I do get it done. If you wanted to help, could you send me a list of the Operations and Bosses translated to French? It would save me quite a bit of time. Just a PM with: Eternity Vault = French translation Gharj = French word for Gharj Karagaa's Palace = French Karagga's Palace etc... P.S. - I would probably disable the mod for now until I get the updated French version available for download.
  15. I can confirm that it didn't work for me either. I tried it on my 1.7 install on my winamp server. A different version that I had was able to be loaded, so there may be something goofy with the package that is linked in this thread. idk Personally I would probably go straight to the source for the original, WoW based planner. You can download the latest stable version at the top of this page. If you want to change the role icons, prior to upload, just choose the icons you like best, resize them with your image editor of choice (i like gimp), and upload them to the images > role_icons folder. You can also add any raid icon image by going into images > raid_icons folder and uploading them. That's essentially what I did with mine. If you want an example, click here. My color scheme leaves a bit to be desired, but that's because of the template I created, not anything Raid Planner did.
