  1. It beats the heck out of putting together a raid full of 20ish level players only to have a couple of 50s come along and snag the Balmorra world boss while everyone is setting up.
  2. Not going to be any different here. Average attention span for a human being is 15 seconds or roughly 5 sentences.
  3. The Legacy Perks seem inflated because it's so easy to get to lvl 50. I'm a casual player with a 50 hr/week job, I have 3 lvl 50s and a lvl 33 Operative that I know I could get to 50 with one good weekend play session.
  4. First three characters I played were Sentinel, Sage and Vanguard. My rationale was that I consider myself to be a good person and did not want to play an evil character or be affiliated with evil characters. Then the requirement of 1 Imperial and 1 Republic character came down for the HK-51 companion, so I rolled an Assassin and I will never return to the republic again. Everything about Imperial from the quest lines, to the gear, to the zone layouts, to the world environment, everything is just better and more enjoyable. It's not Bioware's fault, there's only so many ways you can do up gray/brown and being the good guys. Morally, there's really only ever 1 good answer but there's a heck of a lot of bad ones, and it's nice to have the freedom to choose.
  5. As a healer, the only one that really bothers me is the DPS that queues as a tank because he wants a fast queue.
  6. I can't speak for Prop5 as I don't play there, I can only go on what I hear on these forums and there is constant complaining about a huge imbalance. Some say 3-1, others say greater, but I do play on Fatman so I can speak for the imbalance there. Right now on Fatman, there are 203 people on the Imperial Fleet, there are 69 on the Republic Fleet. I just did my Black Hole dailies on my Sentinel, I was the only person in the zone and crossed 3 Imperial players while doing them. End game it does not make as much a difference since you can do almost everything from the fleet but leveling up you notice the extreme disparity. Two weeks ago, me and 2 other friends were attempting to get the Tattoine balloon datacron and after 6 hours of failing, we not only gave up but abandoned our characters. Every time we went to the platform, there were at least 10 Imperial players waiting for the balloon, there weren't even 10 Republic players in the entire zone. In regards to dailies, I am speaking specifically of the Ilum dailies. I haven't had any problems with the Belsavis dailies and the Black Hole dailies suck but for a completely different reason. The Ilum dailies are impossible, every quest area during primetime has atleast a dozen Imperial players running around even if we bring an entire group we still get crushed and more Imperial players show up after they find Rep players to camp. I've seen the quest hubs in Hoth camped, Ive seen the quest hubs in Tatt camped, last night while playing my Operative there was an entire group of 50 Imps camping Castle Panteer in Alderaan. They spammed the general chat everytime they killed a Rep 'nub' as if 4 50 Imps vs 1 lvl 32 Rep is a fair fight. The population imbalance was never an issue prior to server transfers, it was always consistently 1-1 or a very slight Imperial favor. But now its off the charts and it's impossible to level a Republic character without dying over and over and over again. I know it's a PvP server, I don't mind dying but it's like every single transfer was an Imperial. I'm still leveling my Imperial characters on Fatman as I don't want to abandon my legacy but my friends have already started leveling Republic alts on the Shadowlands in preparation of transferring all our characters off the Fatman to go there once paid transfers open. And apparently we're not the only ones, as Fatman's and Prop5's populations have dropped by over 5% this past week alone according to Torstatus.
  7. It needs to be stated tho that are two servers still shrinking and rapidly in North America. Those two servers being the Fatman and Prophecy of the Five both EC PvP, also the server showing the smallest growth is Jung Ma, the RP PvP server. Players are flocking off these servers in mass because of the problem with faction imbalance. Republic players, myself included, are abandoning their maximum level characters to reroll to PvE elsewhere because they are unable to even do dailies on these servers.
  8. Very much agreed. There's no 'skill' in any MMO or atleast the PvE portions. You're playing against a set number of fixed variables. In order to be successful you need to learn fight mechanics and farm the necessary gear, both of these takes time but neither takes skill. The only difference between EQ vs WoW vs Swtor is time. EQ it took months to years to reach max level, in WoW it took weeks, and in Swtor it takes 4 days.
  9. You'll find Operative + Gunslinger to be more fulfilling. There's more tanks and healers on Republic than Imperial given that most players that main Republic have a more PvE mindset, meanwhile most players that play Imperial typically role DPS so having a Healer on Imp side would be most beneficial.
  10. The biggest problem with World PvP is faction imbalance. Every PvP server across the board has Imperials outnumbering Republic. The number can be small (Fatman is 5-4) or large (Prop5 is 3-1) but the Imperials always have an advantage due to numbers. Until that issue is addressed, nothing else matters.
  11. AI isn't challenging in any game, it's a fixed number of variables either way. It's just a matter of taking the time to learn the mechanics or farming the gear necessary to beat it. Anyone that brags about PvE accomplishments is basically just saying 'I have a lot of time on my hands', nobody deserves a pat on the back for that. PvE is there for enjoyment, not a measure of skill. If you want to prove yourself to be a superior player, PvP is where it's at.
  12. Once again, every Imperial player on Fatman says this. For whatever reason, you guys refuse to acknowledge that you have Republic vastly outnumbered. Yes, there were 3 Imperial fleets back here about a month ago. Now the numbers on Fatman have died off as people have gone back to their original characters but the disparity is still there. Just logged on my Sage, the republic fleet is 124, logged on my Operative, the Imperial fleet is at 195 so it's not quite 2-1 there but the fleet isn't the best indicator anymore with the addition of the LFG tool so let's look at the capital cities, Drumond Kaas 91 people, Coruscant 47 people. That's disparity whether you want to admit to it or not.
  13. Every Imperial player on Fatman says this. Truth is back here about a month before the changes to the fleet caps, Republic would get 1 fleet with a max of 250 while Imperial would have 2 max fleets at 300 and a 3rd overflow fleet. The population is atleast 2-1 Imperial favor but Id venture to say its probably closer to 3-1. Still better than Prop5 tho which is rumored to be 4-1.
  14. I enjoy playing a healer. I played a Sage pre 1.2 and am presently playing an Operative as of 1.3. In regards to nerfs, developers who do not play their own game have no idea how frustrating it can be to have your class nerfed. You spend countless hours progressing your character from point A to point B, only to have the game devs send your character back to point A overnight with a nerf bat. It makes those hundreds of hours you've put into the game seem worthless and makes you want to quit. I haven't logged onto the Sage but three times since 1.2 only to do crafting. I've noticed when it comes to PvE that players are becoming more aware of their surroundings and typically know their jobs. My groups do not fail often and when they do, players usually don't point fingers and just pickup their stuff, learn and move on. It's very enjoyable to play a healer for the most part in PvE especially an Operative who isn't so forced into watching health bars. PvP on the other hand sucks for healers. You got focused, burned, and die within 15 seconds of the start of every fight especially here in Swtor which lets you mark opposing players in PvP. No other MMO on the market allows players to do that, WoW even had an add-on called 'Healers must die' that would mark opposing teams healers that was banned from use because it gave players too large of an advantage. Here, not only is it legal, it's programmed into the game. It really is horrendous game design. But all-in-all, I am happy with healing in this game and do use the LFG tool quite a bit. My groups are sometimes instant but usually 3-5 minutes in length. I do my PvP daily but other than that I avoid PvP like it's the plague for the reason I stated.
  15. Cross server helps during off-hours and lower levels. During peak times, since the pool is large enough the cross server would not change anything, but at 2 AM when you're trying to run SM Athiss on your Healer Commando but there are no tanks on your server queueing, it would help.
