  1. I agree! Was playing my light-sided Bounty Hunter on Taris and...
  2. Quoted for truth! Get on it Wrath! -From a huge George RR Martin fan EDIT: Just gonna put it out there - here are my top 3 favorite characters (listed in no particular order) that the Wrath should give more credit to (even if they don't have ridiculously active sex lives): Arya Dany Tyrion
  3. As a matter of fact, I don't! Sorcerers were never overpowered. People just didn't know how to counter the hybrid specs because they didn't take the time to learn the mechanics of the class. In fact, it was a really easy thing to do, considering sorcs don't have really have any armor / defensive stats (the proverbial "glass cannon," if you will). And guess what? They all came crying "nerf" on the forums. The sad part is that BioWare actually listened, and now they're just glass (except, of course, in the hands of a skilled player who actually took the time to adapt to the changes). My point is that marauders are not overpowered, just like sorcerers and operatives were never overpowered. The class is finally on par with the others, but we just can't have that - no, "if we can't faceroll them, then they must be OP!" The problem lies with the lazy players who would rather swing the nerfbat than admit to their own incompetency. EDIT: Sorry about the rant - I think threads like this are a good idea. Someone should put together a guide that details the weaknesses of each advanced class and exactly how to take them down. Maybe then, we'll have less people crying "nerf" or "l2p." Since we can't seem to figure it out ourselves, someone should clearly spoon-feed us...
  4. Italicized for emphasis. That's exactly it, though! In the hands of a good player, any class can be "OP". I hate to say it's and L2P issue, but really? I'm just not buying into the "too much DPS & survivability" wagon - people preached the same sermon about sorcs and it simply wasn't true! Now look at them! Half the people who pvp complain that they are virtually useless. And before that, it was ops / scoundrels.... Who's next on nerf-bat train? My bets are on the tank-sins. It's a vicious cycle, but it has to end somewhere, right?
  5. But you are going to continue it, right? It's really good so far! I'm curious as to what exactly Corso was doing in the cantina while Vacy was duking it out with Garren, and what happens after Taris? You've got some strong character development there (I especially like those internal conflicts with her "survivor's voice"). As for the combat writing, it is pretty tricky (I am by no means an expert writer - just a fan). However, it is possible to weave in Corso's (and other characters') reactions to the fight, and still make it flow. For example, something along the lines of... "Riggs cringed as he heard the sickening crunch of her <insert bone structure here i.e. ribs, jaw, etc. - don't be afraid to make it gruesome>" or "Enraged by his rejection, Vacy launched a furious assault of blows at Garren's torso - landing a kick to his gut followed by a fist to his kidney" (I got the impression that she's a vicious fighter, but you get the idea) I think mousestalker gave pretty good advice to write combat like you're choreographing a dance - to have sequential steps and reactions to them. Altogether, it's a great story, and I really hope you continue to share your writings!
  6. ROFL - that just made my day!
  7. To the OP: I thought you should know - I had this epic internal debate on whether or not I should even dignify this thread with a response. Then I realized that you must be trolling - it's really funny now that I think about it. I ultimately decided to post in order to congratulate you on your twisted sense of humor... so... Congratz
  8. Honestly, I think the real problem people are having with marauders is that they're not dying anywhere near as quickly as they used to. Pre-1.2, I spent the majority of a war zone match in the re-spawn area because people were zerging me before you could say "Use the Force!" Realistically, my DPS output (as a marauder) really hasn't changed that much (at the end of the match where you see the numbers pop, they've increased overall - but that's only because I'm not spending as much time waiting for the re-spawn gate to let me back into the match so I start killing things again). What BioWare has done, is merely put the survivability of marauders on par with other classes. And they've sort of broken sorcerers, so there's a bit of a gap increase there. Sorcerers used to be the proverbial "glass cannon"... now they're just glass. And healers, in general, can die now. That's the real problem that's vexing people. Healers are dying faster than they're used to, so consequently everyone else is dying faster than they used to (with the exception of marauders who had their survivability increased). Hence PvP dissolving into a huge DPS fest, with people less focused on completing objectives (i.e. working as a team and winning) and more focused on getting medals (lone wolfing it). ASIDE: Powertechs have always been strong, but they were never "overpowered" - I think they're at a good place right now.
  9. Oh believe me - there is no exaggeration. On my server (shadow hand), they call it "the orgy." It's this massive group of people just standing right in front of the cargo (conveniently next to the medical droid) - a lot of them don't even have clothes on (hence the name). And they just stand there (well, some of the naked ones dance) and they just infect each other and explode! For hours! Like popping balloons! As for anyone who gets too close, their FPS takes a bit of dive (along with their health).... Technically - it isn't "forced." You can still participate in the majority of the event without getting flagged for pvp. It's just the one world boss that's located in Outlaw's Den (if you kill all 3 bosses on Tatooine, you get the achievement "Containment Officer"). But you can still do the daily quests without going near the pvp zone (i.e. you won't get flagged / forced to pvp).
  10. ROFL - I can't tell you how many times this has happened to me. It can be pretty frustrating - waiting 10 minutes in the queue and then suddenly you're placed game with less than 6 minutes on the clock (a half-finished game) and - surprise! - you're on the losing side.
  11. (Bold for emphasis) I'm not even a "hardcore" PvP-er and I agree with this (I PUG warzones most of the time, but I also queue with my guild on a PVE server). I've got to say if you can't get a measly 3 medals, you probably don't deserve rewards - regardless of whether your team wins or loses. Honestly, BioWare is being a little carebear-ish by reducing the minimum requirements like this. There are so many different way to earn medals, so that if you aren't earning them, you probably aren't trying hard enough. EDIT: I would also like to add that the rewards you do get for earning 3+ medals on the losing team might as well be non-existent though, considering how low they are. Example: A really close Huttball game - like a tie score, but the other team happened to be in possession of the ball, so they win. I get a few commendations a few hundred credits as my small consolation prize (honestly, I get more credits completing a daily quest that I can finish in 5 minutes than I do for losing a WZ that took 15 minutes and far more effort). Sure, it motivates me to be more competitive and win so I can get the big rewards, but it also hinders progression. How am I supposed to be more competitive when I can't get enough commendations to pay for the better gear (i.e. the gear of the pre-made team that just won the match)? Let's be realistic: there are quite a few pre-mades out there that can give PuGs like me pretty long losing streaks. That's a lot of grinding for a single piece of battlemaster equipment. I suppose the one good thing about this is that I felt really satisfied after I bought that pair of boots - dammit, I earned those boots! /end rant
  12. Shh! Try to save some of the mystery, will ya? *nervously glances around the thread*
  13. *Looks at Dev Tracker* Did Bioware seriously just announce the release date of 1.2 to be two days from now? What have they done to address the concerns of this thread? They've barely acknowledged its existence for exceeding the page limit! That's not nearly enough time to fix the vast number of issues with the class and test the changes... is it?
