  1. Why are you spamming Force Storm. You should only use it with Recklessness which means you aren't spamming. Every class has abilities they should spam when there is 2+ targets, Sorcerer has Force Storm, Powertech has Flame Sweep and so on and so forth. If you see a new player (or a vet) spamming Force Storm continuously on a single target, they are just not playing the spec correctly, though on a group of 2/3 + you should use Chain Lightning (hard cast) > Force Storm > Chain Lightning (Instant). It doesn't mean the ability should be nerfed. It may SEEM like they're doing good DPS, but they're not. Can it kill weak/strong? sure who cares if they do dailies like that. You'll kill faster with a real rotation and actually using your abilities in a FP or Operation than a person spamming Force Storm. No need to change, people who don't know how to play the class will continue to be bad and think Force Storm on everything solves the issue. If people don't understand the class, the solution isn't to change the class, it's to point out and teach them (or leave them be, some people just don't like that) why what they're doing is bad. Edit - Also, your proposed changes to the spec sound (IMO) not that great. Lightning is burst, Madness is sustained, not single target vs AoE. Instant Chain Lightning every 5 GCD's is enough AoE damage and adding any more to other abilities will make it way too powerful. Force Storm is your AoE along with Chain Lightning, no need for more.
  2. I've talked to him to come back, but the ability delay, lag and bugs turned him off from 3.0. He bough the xpac, tried it for a short while said "screw this" and went back to WoW. I'll keep bugging him though. Maybe I'll just open a new thread, copy + paste the relevant info from this one and give him credit and update the parts for 3.0. If I feel like being productive or something.
  3. Razer Naga will only continuously send the key bound to it if you hold the key ONLY if you set a macro in the Naga software for it to do so. By default it's set to 1 key press = 1 key sent to the computer. Don't macro, end of thread.
  4. I play on an NA server from the EU... I have to deal with 250 ping, so I only tank/heal for friends cause I don't want to deal with pugs if I have a lag spike (happens every so often, always at the worst time possible). Also, good DPS is hard to find sometimes. I don't mean someone who only does a **** ton of DPS, but also has situational awareness and knows how to offtank/offheal or not stand in red.
  5. I disagree completely that it should be unstickied. The OP has tons of good info for beginner tanks such as what threat is, how to generate it, how others generate it (DPS/Healers). Tips on how to pull mobs - LOS pulls, single target pulls when there are multiple targets, and a lot more. This guide is a gold mine of info on general "*** is tanking", not just PT/Vanguard tank. Take a look at the PT/Vanguard guide on Dulfy, it's great for someone who is at endgame, knows what tanking is and is looking for how to gear + optimal rotation. This is more about beginners and telling them their role in a group and what IS tanking, what happens when you tank and what it is your doing. That Dulfy guide will be gibberish for a new player wanting to tank who is both new to MMO's and new to tanking in general. For example, there are SO few tanks out there who don't realize that heals generate 45% threat on all targets you are in combat with and so guarding a healer is stupid because a simple saber strike or rapid shots will out threat them easily. "LOS pull? What does that mean?" another question so many tanks I've run into have. While the rotation, skill points (there are none) and rotation are "off " because since the last time this was updated, things were moved around (Energy Blast at one time didn't have the 25% shield chance, I distinctly remember having vanguard tanks use hybrids due to them having more survivability and threat AKA Carolina Parakeet for anyone who remembers THAT OP spec), the rest of the general information in the beginning about general tanking is gold. I wish I could update the OP for him as it requires very little changing, but I can't. Though I've been trying to convince him to come back to play for a bit. TL: DR - This thread is gold for new players wanting to know what tanking is, bad for someone who wants an updated guide on gear/optimal rotation. Thread should remain stickied just for the goldmine of info it has for new players who don't know anything about what tanking is and need a basic rundown. You want an updated guide for talents/optimal gear/rotation? go check Dulfy.
  6. Nope, differences are very small between the 2 with Power giving slightly more bonus damage and Willpower giving less bonus damage, but a little crit. The reason people say Power > Mainstat is because you can easily hit diminishing returns on crit with a few mods/enhancements of crit so going power is better for more bonus damage. In the end, the differences are very small, so unless you're a bleeding edge raider or someone who has to min/max to the very last drop, it won't make much of a difference.
  7. My friend is the one who wrote this guide and cracked up on TS about your post, outdated guide is outdated. He hasn't played in a very very long time. And yes, I posted here so he can get a notification in his email. /poke.
  8. That's quite possible, I wasn't hinting that you were attempting to "speed hack" and my apologies if it came across that way. If you're doing what I think you're doing, 1 button = stream of actions such as pressing the 1 key on a Naga = use the ability Rapid Shots till you lift your key, you should add in a space of no action between sending the key press. For example: Numpad 1 hold will send = "Num 1" + "0.5 sec" + "Num 1" + "0.5 sec" + .... Might prevent that endless key spam. Still not sure if that's OK with the ToS, but would prevent (maybe) the stutter thta would come across as "speed hacking" due to sending a large amount of key presses mixed in with movement.
  9. If you read that email carefully, you'll notice that they did not mention macro'ing. They mentioned movement, as in your in game character was moving faster than allowed. Your gaming mouse can't make your character all of a sudden move faster. This has nothing to do with sending too many keys to the game, what macro'ing/gaming mice do. This is all about your character's speed and movement exceeding the limit, most likely flagging an attempt to "speed hack" or whatever you want to call it. If you were banned for sending too many keys to the game, the mail would state that you used more actions than normal within a given time period. And using gaming mice is perfectly fine, so long as 1 button press = 1 action (which 1 button down can be used). If you made it so 1 click down = 3 actions then that is against the rules as well, but that isn't the reason you were banned.
  10. My, you're super helpful... And so nice to boot. I was under the impression that it was a cleanse by itself. So it's only a cleanse if it's traited to be. Good to know. ANd yes I was aware of the heroic trait that gave it 2 seconds of Force Shroud, but thought you didn't have to have it for a cleanse.
  11. Hey all, I recently rolled an Assasin to better learn how to kill it for PvP. I was wondering, I've been getting dotted and then I would use Force Cloak, but the dot would immediately take me back into combat. Is there a utility or something that cleanses on use of Force Cloak? I was under the impression that Force Cloak was a cleans + disengage.
  12. IDK if you fixed it, but I don't get that weird, everything is messed up HTML anymore. Great job! Love the site
  13. Let me clarify as I wasn't very clear. I'm a sorcerer, so the set bonus works for me. As fa as tradeoff, is it an OK tradeoff for the 180 instead of the 192 armoring as far as Willpower loss.
  14. the HM gear OK? the 180 not the 186. I can't for the life of me get a NiM run going for the 4 piece. Also, I dunno if you caught it in that 4K dps thread, but you helped me immensely, so TYVM. I'd send you cake, but that's weird.
  15. I consider myself a decent AP PT, nothing amazing, but not panicking and blowing your load early on someone is definitely a good trait to have. For many things
