  1. I approve. I'd also like to see better outfits for Consulars. I'd have probably rolled Shadow if it weren't for the fact that I don't want to be Obi-Wan Kenobi in a skirt. I also wouldn't mind seeing more simple outfits like these: http://www.deviantart.com/download/88377521/Luke_Skywalker_and_Kyle_Katarn_by_oliatoth.jpg Or at least something cool and befitting of a Sentinel or Shadow like these: http://images.wikia.com/kotnr/images/b/b7/Talon_Sharr_image.jpg http://img515.imageshack.us/img515/5150/872791gd1.jpg http://images.wikia.com/starwars/images/c/cb/Star_Wars_Force_Unleashed_Jedi_Robes_01.jpg http://images.wikia.com/eraofrevantwo/images/d/d0/Revan_2.jpg http://www.videogamesblogger.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/darth-vaders-secret-apprentice-in-soul-calibur-4.jpg http://i942.photobucket.com/albums/ad263/Daritha_photos/corellianflightsuit3.jpg Something that doesn't make me look like a droid, or maybe even just some cosmetic outfits.
  2. I've had SWTOR for roughly 10 days now. I've managed to level a Gunslinger to 14, a Mercenary to 15, and a Sentinel to 22. I usually play a hard hitting single target DPS class (assassins for example) so I was extremely excited to play Gunslinger until I started reading up on them and heard that they're pretty under-used and underpowered end game. I'd like to know all of your opinions on this, as well as what's a better end game DPS class: Sentinel or Gunslinger? Note: Re-posted from Smuggler Forum to Gunslinger Forum. 4. I've been playing MMORPGs for 7 years and have played healers, nukers, CCers, tanks, and DDs. Honestly I find a DPS DD most natural. DPS classes tend to be engaging in PvE, hit hard enough to easily solo most quests or even heroics and such with no problems, and since combat ends so quickly, you can level up quickly. But mainly a DD class that hits hard and can stealth (usually assassins in most MMOs) tend to be the best (or one of the best) solo classes, and are overpoweringly fun to play in PvP. There's also a lot of difficulty playing a DD, which adds a challenge and more fun. In groups, you have to be capable of maximizing your DPS output while simultaneously hitting just low enough to not draw aggro and get your group wiped. There's also the fact that most groups, whether they want to admit it or not, need DPS players or battles will take forever, sometimes literally. We're damage dealers for a reason: We deal the damage and make sure the mission/heroic/instance is completed. I'm not saying we're more needed than tanks or healers; they're all equal. But a healer's job is to keep the tank alive, a tank's job is to keep aggro off of the DD, and a DD/DPS's job is to beat the instance; there are also support roles, but they're really just there to make the instance easier. There's a lot of pressure to be a good DD, so it's just as challenging as other classes in an instance. So basically: DD's tend to level very fast DD's tend to be very good in 1 vs 1-2 PvP DD's are easily capable of soloing most mobs, bosses, and instances (maybe not from the start) DD's hit insanely fast if DPS specced DD's are one of the most important and needed roles in an instance, being almost solely responsible for defeating mobs and bosses
  5. I've definitely played and beaten Jedi Academy, but the combat/controls are a blur to me. Wasn't it more or less real-time combat and such?
  6. That's Imperial Knight armor. Assuming Bioware is following Star Wars canon and SW Extended Universe canon, that armor belongs to the Gray Jedi of the Fel Empire, which doesn't exist until about 44 ABY. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Imperial_Knight
  7. Relatively new to SWTOR, but I've about 7 years of MMO experience and my main is a sentinel. It looks to me like a Guardian is the SW equivalent of a Captain-class or something. Not the best tank, but the most iconic. Specializes in buffing/rallying allies and tanking. In my experience, those types of classes don't make great DPS classes. A sentinel seems like a hybrid between a berserker and a sin (assassin). From what I've been reading up, and from my own play experience, they can dish out relatively massive DPS and DoT damage but have relatively low defense. Their defense seems to be a good, fast offense. I've also heard Sentinels and Agents are the two highest hitting single target DDs in the game as of right now (haven't played or looked at Marauder skill tree so don't know if it's a mirror of knight or if it's Sniper/Gunslinger situation). Basically, if you want to play a melee DPS then go with Sentinel. If you want to be a tank/buffer, go with Guardian.
  8. May be a little late to the thread, but I come from SWRP where my main character is Alex Kardel. He's a Sephi, but I wanted to tie my legacy family tree with him. Anyway, I figure the legacy system isn't necessarily just a family tree. It can be viewed as a clan tree, like Mandalorian clans. Mandos have clans and adoptive families, and a lot of times may have five kids, but only one is theirs by blood. You can also be any species and be a Mandalorian. Just use your legacy surname as a clan name. Ex: I intend to have my Chiss Mandalorian take on the name Kardel, he adopts my Jedi Knight and Smuggler who will be brothers and raises them until they go off on into the world on their own, both keeping the surname. And this continues until in 240 ABY, you've got Alex Kardel, a Sephi Near-Human space pirate. No need for all of your characters to be related by blood. Two Twi'leks don't reproduce and make a Chiss.
  9. I've only had SWTOR for about 10 days now, and have only played 3 classes. I'm not playing on an RP server, but I'm coming straight from SWRP where story and character development are everything and what have kept the community going for half a decade now, so obviously story is just as important as gameplay to me. Jedi Knight (Light Side, Neutral/Good): I'm only level 18 right now, but the story is gripping and has me hooked. It's epic on a scale that I can only compare to Revan or Cade Skywalker. I don't feel like this grand hero. I'm a fresh Jedi Knight prodigy, and my companions keep telling me we're saving the galaxy. An average hero in a grand tale on a grand journey and it feels very refreshing. Bounty Hunter (Light Side, Neutral/Good): I haven't leveled my Chiss BH very far (only 15), but the story keeps me hooked. There's this epic tale going on across the galaxy (Sith vs Jedi), and I'm shown that there are plenty of subplots. Recruited and trained to undertake the Great Hunt and earn some fame, and as a result credits, my priorities suddenly change when my mentor and team who were kept around just long enough to bond with are murdered. I'm suddenly on a personal vendetta to avenge my mentor and win this contest, and I really feel like the story was inspired by Jango Fett during the Star Wars: Bounty Hunter game throughout Act I. Smuggler (Neutral, Neutral/Neutral): I honestly haven't progressed far in this story and have just arrived on Coruscant. The villain and mystique doesn't keep me hooked. But I find myself wanting to play to find this rogue smuggler become reunited with his beloved freighter, and it really feels refreshing to experience gameplay as someone from the underworld. The starting companion seems uninteresting though and is quite literally just a follower or drone. This story definitely feels quite less gripping than the other two.
