  1. Meh, people are switching because the game is shallow and once you hit 50 you may as well start your alts. Not to mention legacy grinding is best done via alts. Not to mention everyone already has the other classes because they were so popular, it's just time that people have eventually worked their way around to Sentinels/Marauders.
  2. And when you're done with the PvE storyline and all the side quests? I PvP exclusively. I DESPISE daily PvE quests. Without income from PvP I have no incentive to be involved in the rest of the game at all. In otherwords, my lifespan playing this game is directly tied to my interest in PvP. And it's waning really fast.
  3. Combat logs are essentially the only tool to get better at one's class. Otherwise there is NO way to know what happened in a combat to better improve one's performance next time. Frankly releasing this game without combat logs was indication #1 that they were releasing the game before it was ready. --- Meters, threat/dps etc...I'm not a fan. I think all too often people use these tools for the wrong purpose and in the wrong way. It's counter productive to actually IMPROVING one's play. This is also why I hate the scoreboard on warzones; greater DPS does NOT equate to "better" play. --- Other third party development, macros etc. I'm personally not in favour of ANY third party plug-ins, for numerous reasons. So BW, get that combat log in. Seriously, it should be a top of the list priority, right after fixing the TERRIBLE performance of this game. In my perfect world there would be ZERO additional development until the performance was fixed and proper logs were in the game.
  4. ZERO of these terms are originated from WoW. ZERO. Let me say that again, ZERO. Most of them in fact come from the days of MUDs LONG before UO, and long long before EQ. These are gaming/industry standard terms. Confusing is deviating from standard terms that have been in use for longer than some players have been alive. I was literally using a lot of these terms in 1991. I'm not going to change now just because this is the latest MMO to come out. Nothing is special about SWTOR that is groundbreaking industry shaking. No need to change what people are used to.
  5. I believe skill stuttering affects Combat disproportionately as well. It seems to affect blade storm and blade rush our key skills a LOT more than other skills.
  6. I have a Sentinel and Marauder both combat spec. I notice a MASSIVE difference in damage output because BS suffers from skill stuttering and Scream does not. The animation difference itself may not be that large. But the game engines consistent and regular stuttering creates a far larger gap. The sent boards have documented and talked about stuttering quite a bit but for those who aren't sure what I'm taking about it's when the animation for a skill will not fully complete and repeat itself befor the skill fires. Sometimes multiple times. Blade storm has been in my experience one of the top few skills affected by this. You can see it when your toon pulls his sabers back to then thrust forward to deal the damage but instead of the forward thrust they just pull back. Again. And again. And again. It's pretty frustrating.
  7. I wish peoole would stop saying Sentinel and Marauder when what they really mean is Watchman and Annihilation. The other two trees do not match up NEARLY as well in a lot of 1:1 situations. Despite being touted as what would traditionally be the "burst" trees it's the DoT tree that dominates.
  8. I disagree entirely. You have ALL your pieces at 50. Assuming you didn't powerlevel to 50 and you have reasonable L50 gear and trained all your skills. What you don't have is much of an Expertise score. And as someone with FULL BM gear I can say definitively that Expertise beyond just a few pieces is WASTED. The REAL people with advantage out there have Rakata gear and a few BM pieces. So before you complain about PvP gear you need to examine Raid gated gear first. There's a FAR bigger power gap between raid geared PvPers and just pure BM than there is between BM and Champ gear. And if you're complaining about getting Champ gear at least then you probably just need to suck it up for a few warzones...it's EASY to get. Being made easier every day. You will NEVER be 100% balanced in power to other players unless you're devoting massive amounts of your life to the game. The key is being skilled. A skilled player in mediocre gear will ALWAYS 100% of the time beat an optimally geared player who is just mediocre at playing his toon.
  9. Never close, as in even low 4k hits are EXTREMELY rare and require chaining our armor pierce, rush and storm. 3 skills to even get within 1000 of a 5k hit. (obviously in addition to stim/relic boosts too) As to the gear question, yes. I'm on a server where Imps are typically all Champ or higher. So soft targets aren't in abundance. Furthermore I tend to seek out targets that are dangerous to my group...and those are typically high ranked and well geared as well. I'm convinced Combat is really underpowered. Not just in its spike damage, but in its overall damage as well. I can switch to Watchman and instantly see my average damage/warzone go up 100k and get a TON of healing output as well, as compared to essentially zero healing in Combat. That's a pretty huge difference. I'd LOVE to see a Combat Sent that can talk to hitting 300-400-500k, regularly, sometimes, EVER, but I've yet to see one. And they certainly aren't talking about their aproach if they do.
  10. My highest level Alt is a Marauder for this very reason. My guildies laughed at me because I was essentially re-rolling the same toon, but it helps understand the class that much better. I typically despise alts, I'm a one toon kinda player, but this way I learn more about the Sentinel class.
  11. When the DoT build is doing more damage in PvP AND healing at the same time....yeah...Combat is pretty underpowered. Sure the movement perks are nice...I'm Combat and not looking to change anytime soon, but our damage is pretty weak compared to Watchman...and Focus too from what I've been able to tell.
  12. Full BM gear, Combat build. I've never come close.
  13. I'd be really interested to see proof of these types of numbers from a Combat spec, and an open and honest discussion around the attack sequencing and skill use of such results. I consider myself a fairly competant player, in terms of movement and skill rotation/use. But I hit no where NEAR these numbers EVER. Sure, I'm self gimped by playing Combat but seriously, I'd be very interested to see some of these self proclaimed great players talk about exactly what the Combat tree can do in terms of PvP dps.
  14. Cyan is 250k on Imp side or 125k on Rep side. Purple is 250k Rep side, or 125k Imp side. Or they're BOTH ~125k if you have an alt and a friend to quick buy through the shared AH.
