  1. There are the only sentences of any meaning in that mess. Just like the NGE, this whole trainwreck has one REAL purpose, get new subs, somehow. Accomplish the impossible task of finding a massive NEW playerbase, for a game that is headed in the wrong direction. These decisions are being made at the expense of your existing customers. They are OK with that, because they have probably been given the ultimatum of "grow the game to make it more profitable or EA will pull the plug, and on SWTOR and your job..." Mistakes of the past, repeated again.
  2. Put your money where your mouth is....foundational update? Vision for the future? Let's put your "vision" to the test. The only one that matters. Put up a poll. Ask players, your customers, if they feel 7.0 puts the game on the RIGHT track or the WRONG track. Afraid of the brute force feedback? You should be... Actually, just go balls out and put the poll on the launcher...so every player can vote easily. Afraid? Fear is the path to the inferior development side...
  3. Well, the NGE was all about Sony wanting to capture some of the WoW playerbase. They thought they could repackage/recast their product to do that...they in effect dumbed down the game's systems, removing alot of the complexity that the playerbase enjoyed and depended on for playability. They chased another demographic, while at the same time ignoring and crapping on their existing customers. This showed a PROFOUND lack of understanding of an MMOs business model. MMOs are about long term relationships with your customers. You dance with the one that brung ya, in other words. You don't alienate your loyal customers. So when I heard BW devs start talking about simplifying or reimagining classes, or making them more accessible, or whatever crap babble they were spewing, I immediately saw what they were doing...they were not trying to improve the game for us, or listen to our feedback. They were chasing another demographic. They were looking to expand their playerbase, at the expense of their playerbase. It is idiotic, but there it is.
  4. Were you around for SWGs NGE? This is history repeating that disaster.
  5. The content addition is a joke, the UI is horrid... But the biggest problem is the gutting of skills from the classes and the complete rework of the classes, changes in rotations, etc. They dumbed them down, ridiculously. They took a blow torch to classes and rotations that took years to refine and develop. WHY? because people had too many buttons? You CANNOT BE THAT STUPID. It is an MMO. When you level your toon, you need to gain new skills to make that process meaningful. So you increased the level cap, yet reduced my skills. So I have to level more for less. If that sounds like a good idea to you, please change professions. Game design is not your calling.
  6. This is not true. 6.0 didn't physically repulse me.
  7. This is almost exactly like the NGE debacle. The ONLY thing they listen to is revenue loss. Literally, you can *****, complain, post, scream at the sky, etc., and it will mean nothing. All you can do is vote with your wallet and your feet. That is your only choice. That is exactly what I did. Accounts cancelled.
  8. I cancelled my accounts yesterday. I will check back in 6 months. I WILL NOT PAY FOR THIS CRAPTASM. Hopefully the ubisoft/massive open world star wars MMO is still under robust development. This one may be done. SWG spent years rolling back the NGE, and eventually got to where they were making progress again. Then they lost their license as this game effectively killed it. I see history repeating itself.
  9. Well, let's hope that the Ubisoft/Massive open world star wars MMO under development is decent. Is still probably a few years out. But this mess is done. This is NGE level stupidity. It doesn't make sense...it actually compromises the story to have a consular story for a character that shoots lightning...the classes are bound to their story lines for reasons...removing those guide rails just creates nonsensical messes...
  10. All you need to know about the quality and design skill in this expansion is that they increased the level cap, and at the SAME time they gutted skills out of your class. So you have more levels to grind through with LESS to show for it...If they want to make you pick between necessary skills you are used to using, they should be grouped in a sensible way...like pick a mez from 3 mez's, not choose between a mez, or an escape, or damage ability, 2 out of 3 are essential to gameplay and iconic for the class. These people are morons. They have broken what wasn't broken, needlessly. It is completely asinine.
  11. Of course I read that...it is BS. If you think this ISN'T going live, just like it is now, more or less, you are new to the MMO industry. They don't actually want our feedback. This has already been coded and is being released in a beta form. This isn't some proof of concept...that was already done internally, and the decisions were already made internally. Now this is just PR. Again, they have made the decisions and they are lying about their motivation...their explanation is non-sensical. "Our focus is to equip the player with knowledge and understanding of these abilities so they can make impactful choices when it comes to ability upgrades and customizations. To make the class feel less encumbered and customization more concise, we are working to reduce the quantity of abilities but ensuring that the class remains distinct and unique." I have read this before...basically it is the idea that players can't read and can't handle learning anything even remotely complex. "If only we dumb down the game, we can get more people to play it...we can make it more accessible..." What they are really doing is making it more simplistic, less engaging, and less interesting. Why ADD LEVELs when you are decreasing capability/abilities. Why not CUT THE LEVEL CAP back to 50. At least that would be consistent. I mean, if I am too dumb to read a passive description or understand gameplay mechanics, SURELY counting to 80 is a bridge too far as well.... You do NOT increase choice or options by decreasing capability. Letting me choose between a subset of passives and abilities I already have is not MEANINGFUL choice...its gutting the class. The only thing that can stop this is overwhelming negative community response. That takes realization on the part of the community.
  12. You are asking the wrong questions. Here are the right questions: 1. Why are you expending this level of effort instead of adding quality content to the game...you are actually removing content by removing skills and gameplay options. What are you thinking? 2. The current classes have evolved over a decade. They have been balanced over a decade. They are not perfect, but a massive amount of effort and feedback has gone into them. If you are dumbing them down, and are worried about the "feel" of the class remaining intact, because you are asking about it, you are again fundamentally going down the wrong path. Why? 3. To redo all the classes/disciplines and account for all the complexities that have evolved with their interactions in the content (pvp, raids, etc.), there is NO way you can deliver a product of this scope that is adequate. The systems are too complex, with too many dependencies...please show me the massive community demand for this change in direction of the product and this choice for expenditure of dev resources? WHAT DEMAND are you responding to? 4. I have played this game since launch. Played SWG since it launched before that...the comparisons to the NGE are inescapable. That was DISASTROUS and also unwanted. It was born out of a completely misguided effort to change the game because a group of idiots decided they could make the game into something it was not...a wow clone. So what is the REAL motivation here? Dumb it down to console level? Appeal to a customer demographic that doesn't exist at the expense of the current one that does? 5. How far down this rabbit hole are you going to go before you come to your senses? All the way and then try and cram it down your userbases throats? Expending all this effort in the hopes that people still recognize the class? What the hell is the point in that? Leave it alone and you wont have to worry about HOW IT FEELS to people. Finally: 6. You are extending the level cap to 80. But classes will have fewer skills. You are going to try some shell game of picking between passives we already had, skills we already had, and choices we already had to create this illusion that MORE choice is going to be created FROM FEWER options. That is idiotic...it is obviously idiotic. The idea in an MMO is to learn your class as you level and as you add abilities that build on each other...that is how you justify 80 friggin LEVELS. So as you expand levels you are stripping ACTUAL capability. THIS IS INSANE. What are you thinking?
  13. PLEASE do NOT do this. Your logic is seriously flawed. You do NOT increase player choice by removing abilities, decreasing options and dumbing down classes. That makes ZERO sense. It actually accomplishes the EXACT OPPOSITE of what you are claiming you want to do. Yes, classes have abilities...several of them. You LEARN THEM as you LEVEL your toon. That is how that works. STOP WASTING TIME on elements that ARE NOT BROKEN. Instead, do as the players have asked, repeatedly, and focus on adding CONTENT. Engaging, quality content that provides value for our entertainment dollar. PLEASE.
  14. Please fix /follow. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesnt. It seems that classes that can guard (Guardians, Shadows, Vanguards, etc.) are most effected and cannot follow, but this isn't 100%. Thanks
