  1. I'm not even going to try to respond to the PvP advocates and others saying it's no big deal. They refuse to acknowledge that many people who chose a PvE server chose so they don't ever have to PvP. I chose a PvE server because I hate PvP. Up to this point, I was able to enjoy the game without having to engage in PvP. EAWare created new content that nearly everyone is interested in with the HK-51 companion. It doesn't matter if it is optional content or not, it is desired content by a majority of the playerbase. Because I choose to not participate in PvP (I refuse to even flag), this content is unattainable for me. Since the content that I wanted to access is essentially gated away from me, I vote with my dollars. Account cancelled. I'm sure there'll be a flood of knuckle-draggers will come in now and tell me how childish it is to cancel over such a trivial thing however, if the developers choose to add content that I don't enjoy, why should I reward them with my subscription money? What others fail to understand is that if enough people decide to vote with their dollars such as I did, then this hurts the game as a whole. One final question; for those who are claiming that this is the PvP content they've been begging for, is it really that enjoyable for you to engage in PvP with players who don't want to fight back?
  2. I guarantee you, I plan to unsubscribe on Nov 15th and will turn the game off until I can access the vendor without being flagged for PvP. If Bioware decides they don't want to/won't do this, meh, I can easily live without this game. There are plenty of other games out there that want my money.
  3. No, I don't think you understand. Many people choose a PvE server because they DO NOT ENJOY PvP! It doesn't matter that it may take 20 seconds. It doesn't matter that you may be able to go in there and not see a soul. The fact is that Bioware put a required component for content that is supposed to be for everyone in an area that will flag you for PvP when you don't desire to participate in PvP. Up until now, every player could just avoid the Outlaw's Den and never look back. Now you must enter the area if you wish to experience the new content that is marketed as being for fans of KoTOR and like minds. Why give people a choice of what server type to choose if you're going to force them to flag for PvP if they want to experience the available content? There's already a large thread on this topic and I won't derail this thread any longer. I've expressed my opinion about Bioware's seemingly "out of touch" approach to player's desires and choices so I'll leave it at that.
  4. There are some excellent responses to the state of the game so I won't rehash what's already been said. I've been a subscriber since pre-launch and for most of that time, I really enjoyed the game. I haven't played much in the last couple of months because most of my friends left for the exact same reasons stated above. We had/have a relatively large guild in WoW that raided regularly. When we started playing SW:TOR, we couldn't ever get enough people interested to even attempt the Operations here. I kept telling myself to "give it time" and Bioware will get it right and everyone will come back. About the time when everyone left is when Bioware decided to "clam up" and we had no feedback for many weeks. My hope for the future of the game started to wane then. Soon afterwards, the announcement came that the game would be going F2P. I've been monitoring the sparse communication about F2P and other content and the future looks bleaker and bleaker. The limitations placed on F2P/Preferred players don't encourage subscription, they practically require it in order to achieve a pleasant playing experience. I think most players may give the game a try but when they see how restrictive the game really is, they won't think about purchasing from the cash shop or subscribing, they'll just turn the game off and never look back. The one main content update that is not specifically targeted at raiders or PvP'ers (i.e. HK-51) currently requires players to purchase a part that is only available in a free-for-all PvP area. Really? Players who chose to play on a PvE server chose so because they didn't want to PvP or wanted consensual PvP. I was pretty turned off by the idea of the "Gambling Boxes" and had thought about cancelling my subscription over it but I thought I'd give it the benefit of the doubt and try before making a decision. The issue about the HK-51 vendor is over the line though. The fact that you disregard another's players server preference and gate their content with a playstyle they don't enjoy just to provide content to another segment of the playerbase was really the last straw. If the vendor goes live in a PvP zone then you will have made my decision quite simple for me and I'll not be subscribing anymore.
  5. You don't have the right to dictate how I play the game I pay for. Period! I chose to play on a PvE server because I don't want to play your PvP game EVER! You do NOT get to choose when I PvP, EVER! Players who do not enjoy PvP VASTLY outnumber the people who enjoy it. EA/Bioware would be insane to add a mechanic to the game to force players into PvP when they don't wish to engage. That was the whole thought process behind the creation of non-PvP/consensual-PvP servers.
  6. No thanks. I don't want to play your game.
  7. Yes, but you'll have to buy it from the cash shop. Sorry, I just couldn't resist the temptation.
  8. The biggest problem with this is that if you queue with a tank friend, the queue pops instantly and you have no opportunity to update your role.
  9. It exists. I've done it but I did it so long ago I can't remember how to describe to you how to find it. I do remember going out of the back side of the Imperial base and down a hill to get there though.
  10. For those of you saying that it would not be fair to force the characters on the destination servers to change their names, what you fail to account for is that those people got to keep their names simply because they got lucky and ended up on a destination server. What would have been fair would be that there were NO destination servers. Everyone should have been transferred to new clean servers and it would have been first come, first served again. I got to keep 3 of my 8 names plus legacy. I'm not too bent out of shape about it but it was certainly disappointing to have to change their names. Anyone who is up in arms about the name change has a legitimate beef with Bioware due to the poor implementation of the transfers. Bioware should definitely spend resources to address the problem. It would buy them some much needed goodwill after their launch server fiasco.
  11. I don't know if I'd go that far. I agree that it's not intended but not so far as to say it's not a valid reason. Until Bioware fixes the issue with slow objective spawn times and overcrowding of the Black Hole area, people are going to switch shards. I don't believe it's right that they attempt to punish people for wanting to finish their dailies without having to compete with the jerks who will ninja the crate while you're fighting the mobs.
  12. Where my interest lies is if I'm doing my Black Hole dailies, I can check one of the other instances to see if there is less competition for the crate spawns. I'd be ok with gambling on the instance to check it out however, if I do it and my guildmates then log in to a different shard, I'd have to wait 30 min before grouping with them
  13. Why on Earth would you add a 30 min cooldown to changing instances? Today I discovered that if I were to change instances from the minimap, it would initiate a 30 min cooldown. Why?
  14. I think Bioware should add one more slot to the companion toolbar and allow the Proton Torpedoes to be fired using one of the number keys instead of overloading the missiles key.
