  1. Your specs aren't that great. But your settings are set to potato. So it probably evens out. Why don't you just run around in-game and you tell us?
  2. alt+133 = à alt+130 = é alt+163 = ú Opens up a lot of doors. Or put a space in your name.
  3. If you're not using USD, it could be a change due to currency conversion. Otherwise the sub price hasn't changed that I'm aware of (and if it did they would have to notify you before charging you automatically).
  4. I don't usually link this kind of stuff, but if anyone in the MMO community watches the Bellular gaming news channel, he put out a really good video the other day discussing this topic. He's one of the few professional, impartial reporters in the gaming community that I fully endorse giving some attention to. The TL;DNR of it is this: SWTOR isn't the only EA Star Wars game over the last several years to be a 'bust'. We don't know the specifics of what EA paid for their Star Wars licence, but for a title like Star Wars, it was probably a lot. A lot to the point that they'd have to be pumping out some very successful Star Wars games to actually make any money back from it. Similarly, Disney is depending on the company they've given exclusive Star Wars rights to, to expand their franchise into the gaming community. All in all, it doesn't seem likely that the present arrangement is benefiting either company. In any case, yeah. When the license expires in a few years, that's probably it for SWTOR. It doesn't seem likely to me that it will be renewed, and certainly not for the sake of SWTOR. If it's not renewed, we can be certain that in the least no new content will be produced, assuming the servers remain up at all. That's not any kind of schadenfreude on my part, it's just looking at things realistically. Fortunately 'a few years' is likely all the time you need to do whatever you still want to do in this game. Maybe we'll even see one more expansion before the end.
  5. Scavenging is used by more trade skills than artifice or biochem, so it's not a bad place to start, but you can do it with any harvesting profession. There's no 'rules' save for supply and demand - look on the GTN through every grade of mat for the harvesting profession you're using, see which one sells for the most per unit on the GTN, then go harvest that. I usually go for mats that sell for 2k+ per unit. Having a good route is the most important part. Resource nodes take 4 minutes and 30 seconds to respawn, and always respawn in the same general area (the different 'respawn points' are always within a 10 or so meter radius). Ideally you want to find a loop that takes you 4 to 5 minutes to run, and has 8 to 10 nodes on it. The one I usually run takes 4 minutes and has 9 nodes on it, which means I arrive just before the nodes respawn again and can immediately harvest them again and continue my loop.
  6. Because most of the alien races are just humans with different skin colours and less customization options: My Sith Warrior is a human, because human, cyborg and purebood are the only races that really fit the Sith Warrior's Korriban story arc but human gets the cool eye tattoo as Sith Warrior. My Sith Inquisitor is human, because human is the only race that can get the face model I wanted for him. My bounty hunter is human, because I wanted the BH-Human specific face tats. Mirulaka are just humans with blindfolds. Cyborgs are just humans with cybernetics. Zabrak are just humans with horns and bad hairstyles. Twilek and Togruta can't wear helmets or hoods. I don't like the Cathar... at all, and never bothered to unlock them from the CM. Etc. Normally in MMOs I try to create characters of every race for flavour and variety, but the racial options in SWTOR outside of Humans, Purebloods, Mirialans and Chiss don't really appeal to me, and in most cases there are better customization options for Humans than the latter three.
  7. I made a post shortly ago lamenting that the "green" color crystal looks like a lime. That desert green though, that looks pretty close to the RotJ green I've been wanting.
  8. Farming mats and selling them on the GTN has always been a surefire way to rack in credits. https://i.imgur.com/ePM0gV8.jpg I made 8.3 mil this morning from about 90 mins of farming, that's just selling the excess mats I didn't use. The mats I did use were made into things to also sell on the GTN for about that much again on another character. If you want to you can push 20 mil a day farming the right mats, finding ones that are underpriced on the GTN to buy and resell, etc. I used to push about that much but I've become lazy with it because there's not much I want that credits can buy until some new Cartel Market stuff gets released.
  9. These robes and many other orange dungeon sets that were introduced at vanilla were removed when the whole dungeon scaling thing happened. The Black Talon robes specifically are no longer in game, but their models can be found elsewhere. These are craftable and can be worn by level 16. https://torf.mmo-fashion.com/lashaa-aegis-imp/ These apparently have a chance to drop from any veteran flashpoint if you queue around level 17. https://torf.mmo-fashion.com/aftermarket-bulwarks-mk-3-imp/
  10. I had a longer post written but it got rather rambly. The TL;DNR of it was: The concept of a Star Wars based MMO is wildly marketable, but the name "SWTOR" carries a stigma about it after a wildly botched launch and years of unaddressed bugs and slow content release. SWTOR itself I think has burned too many bridges in the MMO community to be very marketable these days, even if it's a lot better of a game today than it was when those bridges were burned. That's not to say it's not marketable at all, but I don't realistically see it ever recovering to anything resembling launch day numbers. The next Star Wars MMO on the other hand...
  11. They did this in World of Warcraft to address queue times actually, and it worked fine. I don't see why it should rustle anyone's feathers. It would be based on whether it's worth putting their resources into, and the resources they have (ie: budget) does in fact relate to them 'being a AAA title or not'. My statement was explaining that a clearly understaffed MMO that rarely releases content and can barely keep up with bugs isn't going to focus resources on the visual appeal of characters in warzones, nor should they, but if they were a larger game with a larger budget they might. See previous remark regarding WoW doing this. This was already done in another game and exactly zero people had a meltdown. I don't know where this assumption you're pushing that people would freak out is coming from but I'd like to see your data backing up that argument. I don't really care if some rando I'm PVPing against in a Warzone doesn't see my character on their screen the same way I do, and neither should anyone else. Probably because the person I'm fighting is actually looking at my health bar the whole time anyway. "Color of lightsaber" was obviously a loose reference to the general concept of maintaining the theme of two distinct warring faction identities visually represented in warzones, which is the topic of this thread, and not a suggestion that the only thing relevant to this thread topic is what color our lightsabers display as in warzones. Nice strawman though.
  12. I don't see the need for a new engine. The visuals are one of the few areas where SWTOR still kicks the **** out of just about every other MMO. It's the bugs, poor queues and lacklustre endgame content that drags it down.
  13. We're already down to only 2 english servers, and the queue problems aren't fixed. I doubt one more merger will make a huge difference given I'm told SS is dead. On the topic of hand, yeah, it's lame. I mean, I get why they did it though. It's probably too much to ask that they 'fake it'. IE: If you queue as IMP, everyone on your team 'looks' like an IMP player on your screen (lightsabers would display as red, armour would become the imperial version, etc) whereas the same players would look like REPs if you queued as REP. I mean a real AAA title could manage it but we all know SWTOR isn't that.
