  1. No idea whats the recommenced gear rating. I think lv70 in 230s gear is going to be doable challenging for most average players. Given the 4.0 experience on KOTEF, I had no plan to re-play any of the chapters. So I jumped straight into veteran KOTET at release on my lv65 healing operative in 220s gear. The major struggles were chapter 2 and the walker. I attributed the main issues to being forced to use new lv1 companion in the early chapters and extreme server lag. I died in chapter 2 about two dozen times and half a dozen times in the walker chapter. Had to pop all cd and heroic moments to barely get through chapter 2. The companion was next to useless in any role and being a healer meant I had to grind rather than burst anything down.
  2. From what is revealed so far, the system actually seems fine. Just to make non-raiders happy. Putting my raider hat on, I don't really give a s about how they giving away bis gear. Raiders just want new ops to play. Looking at the current "hard" content, say, nim brontes..... well you can now grind dailies and save enough to pay for some hardcore raiders to carry you for the wings. So substituting quantity for skills have already existed in the game for a long time. The new GC will just stream line it. Another angle to look at it... how do you progress or get more powerful in traditional rpg? XP. Some players have trouble to kill the dragon at the top of the hill; what do they do? They go to the sewage and farm rats to over level the dragon. The option is there doesn't really bother me enjoying the challenge to figure out a way to kill dragon. The GC system isn't a bad idea just to satisfy the non-raideas as long as there are more new content. If this can free up the dev time from worrying about making boring visual novel to keep the casuals happy and actually make some new raid, I am all for it.
  3. What you talking about? We are getting 9 "new" ops next xpan. with hundred of "new" heroics.
  4. A new operation alone doesn't work. It is the whole progression design and content release philosophy. OK, lets say they release 2 new ops with sm & hm , with op release schedule similar to around 2.0-3.0. Then a year later nim comes and lasts 6 months. This was barely able to hold raiders interest. SM/HM raiders only have 2 raids for 18 months, probably get bored after 6 months. NIM raiders maybe happy to farm hm for 3 months. So there is around a 12 months of "boring gap" period. From launch to 3.0, with their communication (or lack of) and perception management, BW was able to keep some players subbed during the boring period. Players were hoping new raids would be just around the corner. Now comes 2017, they can release 2 new raids. I can easily convince some friends to re-sub and play. Say we take a month or two to clear hm. Some may not even care to farm for gear with a question mark on nim. All my friends had already learned the lessons; new content may come in 9 to 15 months time. They are happily unsub and re-sub when new content is released. This is totally fine from the player perspective. But from the devs perspective, the EA accountants would ask why make ops? They want more than 2 months sub of return given the resources they spend on making 2 ops. The trust has been damaged. It will take a lot more now to turn the game back into a more balanced experience for all type of gamers. And I don't think EA is willing to take that risk. Keeping swtor with the casual/story model is probably the easy way out for this poorly managed publisher with lack of vision.
  5. No. Never DPS fault, ever! It is universally accepted and politically correct to ..... Blame the healers, blame the tanks, blame EA, in that order.
  6. Just finished reading 10 pages. I saw a few arguing that op was just complaining and asking for free hand out rewards of rewards..... The problem isn't so much about this event but again the lack of new content. Someone may help to count the number of events content we had in swtor (and we did have some good ones). but what was the last one? When was the last one? My rough memory says more than two years ago. Let the new players have the rewards. I don't mind. But just please produce real content.
  7. Event 2017 predictions .... swtor subs will get free copy of kotor1&2. What great value for your monthly sub! We will also give away our award winning Origin client for free! Completing the kotor stories for each class will grant you great rewards and achievements in swtor!
  8. I think this LS/DS event is a loud and clear message that the game is not for the "Veteran". Future "content" will target new players and likely recycle.
  9. * Canadian * Gamer * Popular/public figure * Female; with an asterisk (*) Remind me of another two persons Scarlett (Starcraft) MagicAmy (Hearthstone)
  10. Thanks for the laugh. Yea. David Gaider left leading to subscribers at the highest they've been in 3 years. EA is going to fire all story writers.
  11. I used to think sm Hammer Station and Athiss did good job in introducing group mechanics to new players. It is a shame that the devs decided to head down the other direction.
  12. Reading the forum recently makes me feel like going to a first-person-shooter-game forum and some people are advocating/supporting the removal of guns in fps because there are more population in games that slingshot birds. Lets get rid of combat in game and add Ken Carson to my stronghold too please.
  13. There are a few clicking mechanics that designed to require 4 players. You maybe able to get away with three players but definitely not soloable. Just ask for group on the fleet. There are still players doing them and some players are happy to come along to help. It is a fun little flashpoint that is totally worth doing. Do set aside 30 minutes though.
  14. Each character is only allowed to kill each operation boss once a week. Subsequent boss also lock you out for previous bosses in the same op. (So if you kill boss 3, you can't do boss 1-3 anymore until weekly reset on Tuesday) Check the lockouts from your quest log.
