  4. However, with the Muur Talisman laid the ability to create new rakghouls, and the galaxy would see the return of the rakghoul when the oubliette belonging to the Sith Lord Dreypa was uncovered by Darth Vader, and the Jedi Knight Celeste Morne who had entombed herself and the talisman within for safekeeping nearly four thousand years prior, was revived. Morne battled Vader, but was no match for the skills of the Sith Lord and his stormtroopers, so she called upon the talisman's power to turn the stormtroopers into rakghouls; outnumbered, Darth Vader fled, stranding Morne on the desolate moon she had awakened on with only rakghouls and the spirit of Karness Muur for company. Several years later, Morne and the talisman would escape the moon aboard a Rebel Alliance shuttle, turning the crew of an orbiting Imperial-class Star Destroyer into rakghouls during her escape. Later, after her ship had been taken aboard a Pellaeon-class Star Destroyer, Morne turned the crew of the Iron Sun into subservient rakghouls with the power of the Muur Talisman. Morne and her rakghoul crew later came into contact with former Jedi Cade Skywalker, who convinced Morne to join him in his campaign against the current Dark Lord of the Sith, Darth Krayt, after curing the rakghoul plague he had been infected with using his unique healing ability. During their attack on Krayt's forces, Krayt was killed and Morne convinced Skywalker to end her life and her suffering under Karness Muur's constant psychic presence. Skywalker then destroyed the Muur Talisman as it attempted to bind itself to a new host, effectively putting an end to the primary source of rakghouls.
  5. Rakghouls were a type of Sith-spawned mutants, engineered by the Sith Lord Karness Muur. Desiring an army to rule over and seeking a way to cheat death as so many other Sith before and after him did, Muur forged a talisman that he poured his spirit and power into, one that eventually came to be known as the Muur Talisman. Muur's talisman could turn almost any sentient being near him into a mindless rakghoul which he could control, but he found that there were exceptions: Force-sensitives and certain alien species could resist the talisman's effects. Thus, Muur engineered the "rakghoul plague", a virus-like disease that could be spread by a rakghoul's bite or a scratch from its claws, and that subjected the victim to a slower transformation into a rakghoul. Jealous and fearful of his power, Muur's Sith rivals killed him, and over time, the Muur Talisman came to reside on the Outer Rim world of Taris where the rakghoul plague ran rampant throughout the world's impoverished Undercity, creating vast numbers of rakghouls. The people of Taris would manage to put an end to the rakghoul presence on their world at some point prior to the year 19 BBY, and by the days of the Second Imperial Civil War, rakghouls were believed to be extinct.
  6. "He said no mortal mind could know everything, and the last thing he wanted was to become a Celestial." ―Feryl on Jacen Solo.[src] By the modern age, little was known about the Celestials. Only vague references to the ancient race remained, their appearance unknown, yet it was stated that they had possessed incredible knowledge.[14] These were beings of astonishingly powerful and held a malleable form.[5] One theory held that they were a group of discorporate entities who had perhaps merged themselves with the Force thousands of generations earlier and continued to guide the fate of the galaxy ever since. Those that believed in this view held that the Celestials were a higher order of intermediaries whose powers were beyond the understanding of mortal beings.[13] The Killiks claimed that the Celestials were in the Force and that the Force users known as the Ones were what Celestials became in time. The Thuruht hive were unsure on whether the Celestials were the kind of beings to hold a plan. Ultimately, they believed that the Force was the dominion of the Celestials and when their power was usurped then the Bringer of Chaos emerged.[7] It was claimed that no objects were more spectacular than those created by the Celestials. They were known for their demonstrable and nearly immeasurable level of power.[1] Their technology was said to had been able to move entire star systems with the Rakata's being almost on par with it.[14] Leftover machinery of the Celestials, such as Centerpoint Station and the Cosmic Turbine, had the ability to manipulate gravity on a interplanetary scale. This was done through the use of tractor beams, repulsor pulses and hyperspace wormholes.[1] The gravitic tractor seen on Centerpoint was, in theory, able to move planets or suns and capable of either collapsing or destroying entire solar systems.[9] The hyperspatial anomaly that bisected the galaxy was considered easily within the capabilities of the Celestials.[6] The destructive energy of an Infinity wave was based on Celestial principles.[1] The suspected Celestial machines on Kessel included an antenna-like super electromagnet that, when activated, spun with such a force that it ripped off the other devices in the caverns from kilometers away and dragged them towards itself as part of a self-destruct process.[9] Joiner Raynar Thul claimed that when the Killiks created the Maw, they used the Force to change the state of matter. Leia Organa Solo was skeptical of this claim, accounting for the Killik's muddled sense of history and wondering whether this was more likely a trait of their Celestial masters.[8] In actuality, the Killiks had created the Maw under the instruction of the Son and the Daughter, members of The Ones who joined the hive mind and lent the hives their knowledge and their enormous power in the Force. It is believed that after they completed their labors, the siblings left the hive mind and somehow removed the Force powers that they had shared with the hive.[7]

  8. "The so-called gray Jedi have been with us since the beginning. Although they do not break with the Jedi orthodoxy concerning the dark side, they bristle when asked to take orders from the Council. Gray Jedi make compromises, cut corners, and hide their actions from scrutiny, all under the assumption that their experience makes them authorities on policy. They are mavericks who are difficult to control, but can be valued members of the Order after they have been persuaded to follow the established hierarchy." ―Restelly Quist, Jedi Chief Librarian following the New Sith Wars A definition for "true Gray Jedi" that appeared in the Jedi Academy Training Manual described them as those who did not belong to any Force-based organization and who explored both the light and the dark sides of the Force without becoming corrupted by the dark side. Despite this, it was also stated in the Jedi Academy Training Manual that the New Jedi Order considered the entire Force tradition of the Jensaarai to be Gray. Additionally, the Imperial Knights were confirmed to have been considered as Gray by the New Jedi Order in Star Wars: Legacy 0 and Star Wars: Legacy 0½, and the Voss Mystics were verified to have been Gray in the "Creating Worlds"
