  1. This. When a game is about to die, people give up on it. They don't post about leaving, they just leave. Then the last dedicated few who are still playing receive an announcement that the game is ending. So long as you have people complaining, you have people who believe the game can be fixed that are playing it. Or, in my case, are prepared to return after some of the current screw-ups are fixed.
  2. *sigh* Reading for content must be difficult for you. It's clear he's talking about his guild.
  3. Definitely this. Regardless of which good or bad or just plain average idea of BW's they're defending, the white knights always start with a personal attack. And they bring the rest of us down to their level all too often.
  4. OP, it took them a few weeks of monitoring and crunching numbers to determine that the companions were overpowered (look to Musco's original post for more information). If the companions are now completely worthless, it will take them a few weeks of monitoring and crunching numbers to figure this out too. It should be obvious at this point that they use player complaints as a place to start looking for problems only.
  5. You're nicer than me. I now think, "What a rip off."
  6. nick·el-and-dime NORTH AMERICAN informal verb gerund or present participle: nickel-and-diming put a financial strain on (someone) by charging small amounts for many minor services. "we don't nickel-and-dime our customers like some vendors that charge extra for every little utility" The term is a little older and more generic than you realize. Please try to keep up with the rest of the class, or we'll have to give you that funny cone-shaped hat and have you sit in the corner.
  7. It varies by guild. If your guild has their own web page you could always tell them you're taking a break so they don't kick you.
  8. This. I've paid for (and already cancelled my sub) 9 chapters. Now I'm waiting for them to address the balance issues, bugs, and complaints that were more or less inevitable with the new content. I plan on checking back in on the game in the spring or summer. And since I subbed at the right time I also get access to Shadows of Revan. After I chew through most of that, I'll decide whether or not I like the game enough to keep paying for the new content. Assuming I don't find something else that offers both story and MMO content that I like better.
  9. Several years ago, before changing the setting radically on one of its core RPG settings, a company remarked that sometimes a good idea goes wrong and you end up having to reset everything. That's what this feels like, without the honesty of an up front statement/warning. I'm not saying it's horrible, but I feel this is an attempt to carry on something that is finished instead of owning up to a) it's done and b) we need something new. Part of how KOTOR II worked was that Bioware recognized when Revan's story was over and created a new character for a new game. With Shadows of Revan they reversed that decision and banked on nostalgia. With the new expansion they're banking on this feeling like a new and exciting story BUT they're dragging our old characters into it. With every campaign you have to realize when one story is done and the time for a new tale with new characters has arrived. SWTOR is and has been fun, but I can't escape the feeling they should have simply made KOTOR 3 or another Star Wars RPG altogether. Whenever this game gets stale for me I take a break and return when it feels fresh again. I'm trying that again with the current expansion and hoping for the best.
  10. This. The game is poorly optimized and uses the CPU much more than the card.
  11. Right now both sentinel and guardian are pretty enjoyable. As for when KOTFE hits, that will probably be wait and see. One thing in guardian's favor is that the DPS specs are viable along with the tanking spec, so you have more flexibility in what you can do.
  12. No, actually it won't. Most of us feel the shooter on rails space game is a bad idea and that completing class stories at the appropriate level is the fun way to play. Which means level sync will be all the same for us and it will take us the normal amount of time. It takes you a long time not only because the quests are appropriately leveled, but also because the shooter on rails skills don't translate into playing the game well skills.
  13. Crates and packs will always be a gamble. I occasionally purchase an individual pack, but I still haven't purchased 24 total packs. If you want to farm packs heavily, then the hypercrate is probably the best option,
  14. I, like you, am a casual player. While I tend to sneer at level sync complaints, the removal of achievements and not translating work already done (for those who did it) is basically an insult. This game's engine is awful, but it's not so bad they couldn't have translated one kind of point into another. Even though I'm a casual player and the achievements, crafting, and companion affection don't matter to me, I can see the lack of regard for more dedicated players this demonstrates. Especially since those players generally paid subs monthly when I was off doing other things. The money that went into creating this expansion mostly came from the people EA/BW is insulting. Since day 1 (yes I was here) this game's developers have demonstrated extremely poor customer service, and this is just one more example. It's one of the reasons I swing by for a while and then leave again. The stories are fun, but the dev team is extremely inconsiderate of its player base and grind-fests aren't my thing.
