  1. You think at this point though we can stop conflating the gearing issue with Ops getting a higher tier of gear? If the developers aren't living up to their own word, by all means keep them accountable. But the way isn't to then punish other groups of players you feel are making out more favorable than you are (generally speaking - not meaning you specifically). By doing that, you only end up alienating potential allies, and it just ends up coming off as rank jealousy, even if the root cause is legitimate. I've seen that show before. Its that show, and the developers' willingness to cater to it, that is the real reason SWG ended up failing and got torn apart piece by piece since it launched. The CU and NGE were just ham-fisted attempts at fixing the damage already done...
  2. Oh, I think I've been more than willing to engage in the other side's view point. Like if what you are saying is true, then that is an issue that the blue 318 is the same as the green 318. But just because I want to get to the heart of it and am willing to engage in those points, does not mean I also have to accept the baseless emotional flailing that goes along with it.
  3. If that's the case, then they need to balance the 318 better. But man the way you phrase it makes you sound like you just want to be angry for the sake of being angry, and are just struggling to walk the overwrought emotional tone back...
  4. I actually AM on PTS. And thus far, while things have been an adjustment, I personally haven't noticed a problem levelling or gearing, but hey, I happen to be playing Star Wars, the Old Republic, not Math Wars, the Old Spreadsheet. But I also know that I'm old hat playing the game, and perhaps where I am at is not where others are at, so I don't assume the game should be balanced around MY skill level. However, if people of my skill level are the only ones TESTING, because the people who have the biggest issues would rather complain on the forums than test on PTS, then of COURSE the game is going to be balanced around MY feedback, and players of my caliber. If you want it based on YOUR skill level, then get you and your friends on PTS if you aren't already, and then share CONSTRUCTIVE feedback in the forum areas they have designated. Don't just sit there and give them "YOUR CHANGES SUCK! CHANGE IT BACK OR WE RIOT!" diatribe. Give them actionable, CONSTRUCTIVE feedback. I have watched PTS for a while. I have seen the devs react to even wholly negative feedback, WHEN IT IS PUT CONSTRUCTIVELY AND WITH ACTUAL DATA POINTS. People who take the time to go on PTS, explain not just what's wrong, but also WHY it is wrong, etc. Again, not saying that happens every time, but I have seen it happen enough. The issue we have on PTS is there are too many people who would rather spend 15 seconds typing out a forum post and flail about, than spend 15-30 minutes to play on PTS and then give actionable feedback in the forums after.
  5. But it doesn't fall flat. You are reading something into it that isn't there to justify your position. The game should be balanced around casual play. Operations are a cut above that for those who want a challenge. Nothing you said contradicts "my philosophy", which incidentally, I am only taking from what the developer's stated philosophy is. Stop trying to "win" a pissing contest - come with facts like ceryxp or not at all. And as for your other post "they don't listen" on PTS - that's a crock. They aren't going to do everything you demand there, but I have been keeping a casual eye on PTS and the game for a while even in my absence, and also remember the PTS since Keith took over, and they ABSOLUTELY have taken feedback and ran with it in PTS. So stop with your lame excuses.
  6. Ok, so I took the time to read this, and I appreciate the time and effort you made to break it down like this. Here is what I would tell you. The core issue here is NOT one of progression raiding. To me, it is wholly incorrect to punish OPS players because the developers rebalanced everything (and appear to be doing a stealth nerf to address power creep). After all, they wouldn't do something like that and leave the Ops progression untouched, so I bet we ALL will be feeling the effects of that. So to get hung up on targeting Ops for having "better gear" basically distracts from the broader issue - you are punishing the operations players when your focus should be on the developers to make the game more sustainable at the lower tiers of gear. In short - this shouldn't be about wanting Ops gear for "free" - it should be about holding the developers accountable to their word and making it so that solo content viability is indeed balanced to 318 gear. The final thing I will say, is while grabbing numbers is all well and good, the game isn't played on a calculator. It seems like they made adjustments across the board. What I would say, is get as many people on PTS right now as you can, have them level, and see if the rebalance feels out of whack, and if it does, post in the PTS forums. That's what the PTS is there for, and they are indeed looking at this exact thing RIGHT NOW. Unfortunately, playing Math of the Old Republic and just comparing numbers in 7.0 to 6.0 isn't useful given the scope of things they are changing - you have no solid context to draw from, as the balancing in 7.0 is different than that in 6.0. So complaining on the forums isn't going to change anything. Getting on PTS and providing REAL feedback based on ACTUAL play experience might. That would be my suggestion for anyone concerned about the things you bring up in your post. Beyond that - well as they say, you can lead a horse to water....
  7. Just to the point, I can logically back up my point and have. Progression raiders raid for gear progression. When BioWare killed Ops gear progression in 6.0, all the hardcore raiders left. So that's a factual data point for you from my side. Only fair I be held to the same standard I ask for; on that we agree.
  8. Ok, so walk this back a second. I think at least you are providing a better take on your perspective finally. Why do you think you will be stuck with bottom of the barrel junk? My understanding is that as you level, you will be able to gain rating-appropriate gear along the way. And once you hit end-game, you can level your way up to 318 gear just by doing whatever activities you fancy, and the challenges of the game are balanced around 318 at max level. Comparatively, that would be like me tackling a particular op with gear at-level, which is how it is supposed to be. When I think bottom of the barrel, I am thinking of something like the game calibrated to rating 318, but you have rating 280 armor and have NO way to get 318 rating armor BUT to do Ops. If THAT were the system, I would 10000000% agree with you. But that's not the case - at least that is not how the devs explained it. So enlighten me - being totally sincere here. How is what you are getting "bottom of the barrel"?
  9. Yall are getting emotional and yet are only proving what I said was right. Your argument is that everyone should be able to get the best gear, even though in the game there isn't a need for you to get the best gear. My argument is Ops should get the best gear because that is how ops are designed, were designed, its what motivates progression raiders, and in the end the "best" only really benefits those of us trying to tackle the hardest content, while your side wants it "just because." We're never going to see eye to eye, and if your whole argument against me is "you're a big meanie!" - then you don't have a logical argument. Period. Besides - I haven't gone out of my way to truly be mean. I think some of you are a little too sensitive. Up front, my opinions are matter-of-fact. They ARE blunt. I don't beat around the bush and I get that can be off-putting for some people. But it does NOT mean my opinion is invalid. We all have our opinions. I respect all of yours, but disagree with them. And when I asked for a logical counter argument, all I got was called names and emotional arguments. Not a winning formula for your side....
  10. You are playing with words to win a strawman argument, while those of us who have raided prior to 6.0 know EXACTLY the system they are going back to. It was a system that was in place for most of the history of the game in some form, and its removal in 6.0 is the major reason why most raiders left. Knock it off. You aren't going to win this argument on a verbal technicality.
  11. I think that's the main point of my consternation - Bioware already said they ARE rebalancing content around 318 gear in 7.0, so people wringing their hands and using 6.0 as a comparison are using a faulty data set for their opinions.
  12. I want facts, NOT feelings. A persons' feelings are fine as an individual opinion, but if they want action that affects more than just them, then don't give me feelings. Give me facts. And truthfully? No, its not about making people feel bad for not agreeing with me - to consider that type of mentality is more a reflection of the one accusing it. What I am tired of, is people having emotional tantrums on the forums over things that they haven't thought out yet. I am tired of people who think that just because they have a "big feeling", that now everyone must coddle them or cater to it. Its like people forgot the purpose of a video game. This is an MMO. There are too many people to make EVERYONE happy. And the purpose of a video game is escapism. It does NOT exist to validate people's opinions or emotional conditions. Again, it says more about the person than the game if a person is looking to a video game for that sort of emotional validation. So if you have a critique, you are entitled to your opinion, of course. But likewise, I am entitled to MINE as well - so don't go lecturing me about feelings. If you need to talk feelings with someone, there are professionals out there who are paid to listen to it. If you still want to talk feelings with me, I'll either rebuff you like I just did or start charging you by the hour.
  13. His premise is flawed, horribly, based on wish-casting. The progression raids are tuned to the upper echelon of gear. His denial of that doesn't change this fact. And progression raiding is why most raider's raid. Honestly, people need to get over this sort of thing - the best gear is needed for progression raiding, and everything else is tuned to a level below what you can get in a progression raid. At this point its crying that you want the best without earning it, just because. It would be like whining that you got a new ford escort instead of a lexus when all you need is something to get you from point a to point b - no matter how they try to frame the argument to make it not sound like that, in the end, that's all this argument amounts to.
  14. There are feedback threads in the PTS forums - how about complaining in the places meant for it where your feedback might actually do some good?
