  1. So, first off just to clarify this, I assume that in order to start the expansion you have to finish the secrets of the enclave FP, right? That brings me to my second question, i'm not sure if this is a bug or if its intended, but it sure seemed like a bug at the time. The secrets of the enclave FP is completely unplayable for me as soon as I get to the first boss. Within seconds of starting the fight both companions disappear and when it starts sending out mobs they're virtually impossible to target and therefore kill. Somehow I can barely do any damage at all to the boss yet he practically one shots me down to almost no health. I can't use any of the health items scattered around the area as literally the instant I do it pumps my health up and in less than a second he instantly fires off that cave in ability and kills me instantly no matter how high my health is. I literally cannot get away from it. So in short, virtually no healing, getting an insane amount of damage on me from mobs I can't even target (if I try it just targets the main boss instead), useless healing items that just get me killed on the spot if I try to use them and both npcs disappearing seconds after the fight starts So is this working as intended or is it some kind of screwy bug messing with my companions and everything else? Is there some way of skipping the FP and just moving on to the expansion. Cause as it is right now I doubt i'm going to be able to play it at all if this is how the FP is going to b
  2. and? Those people will be very much correct. Lets not forget this figure is stretched out over close to a decade, nor that more than a third of the figure at the very least goes into just breaking even from its initial development costs. Then you can factor in licensing costs for one of the most expensive IPs on the planet, all of the combined costs of running the game so far, as well as its continued development up to this point. All of which costs a considerable amount of money. The amount of actual profit they have actually made is at best half of that figure, and I wouldn't be at all surprised to find out it was lower than that. If they were making profit hand over fist there would be alot more content being seen than there is, because more money would be getting thrown at it to keep a known moneymaker profitable. What we actually see is considerably less content with each major update, which speaks for itself and is very telling. The game isn't even brought up by EA much, if at all at this point Yes, which says everything you need to know about how EA views the game in terms of potential profit. Their ROI isn't what they want it to be, or they would be putting more effort, and risk into attracting more people. It only points to the game not being a major moneymaker
  3. I second that FPs are glitchy statement. I had to quit about five minutes into it as an imperial because the very first boss I ran into a) could barely be scratched, b) did insane amounts of damage constantly, c) glitched out my heroic moment so I couldn't even use that to throw some decent damage and heal and d) reset itself multiple times when I switched my aggro to one of the mobs surrounding it. Just said nope and quit right then and there Yeah its doing that for me as well. It was getting so bad I had to turn everything as low as possible and can still barely run anything in an actually playable manner now. Especially the first planet. Not sure what it is with this game and jungle planets but they're always laggy as hell. But at least they used to be playable. Now it takes 10x longer than it should just to get around
  4. lolwut? What are you talking about? This 'expansion' was absolutely nowhere near close to the size that SOR was, with or without any flashpoints. SOR was huge compared to this. Ziost also has quite a bit more content than ossus. If you really think the two new 'planets' are anywhere near the size or content of yavin and rishi you have to be crazy. This supposed expansion was tiny. and for a supposed restart of a galaxy wide war barely anything actually happened involving actually fighting the opposite faction. The hype they dumped into this one makes the whole thing look embarrassing
  5. You all know this is the wrong forum for discussing any of this right? Thats what the bug report forum is for
  6. So is a permanent addition to the cartel market or one of those things that will just pop up from time to time?
  7. I think this clip sums the situation up rather well
  8. - Lag spikes so bad it takes a full minute to walk forward a few feet, makes combat nearly impossible at times - slicing caches show as existing via the map icons but half of which appear not to exist - the slicing caches that do exist respawn at an absurdly fast speed and produce upwards of 1.5k - 2k each, so that could be exploited real easy and screw the economy up badly if it isn't looked into - companion randomly deliberately going aggro on random mobs who should be out of range and aren't part of the current fight (happened 5 or 6 times so far, even when companion is set to healer)
  9. No. That is a horrible idea and would severely unbalance the game
  10. Just out of curiosity does that mean that free players get just up to the end of SOR or does that include the ziost stuff as well?
  11. That may be the case now but it wasn't always. Back when SOR was released I somehow ended up with access to it when I was on a 7 day referral. No idea how it happened, but I assume whatever it was is long since fixed. So there is at least a good reason why people still ask this every time there is an expansion
  12. Really though. Once you mentioned it, it turned into one of those can't unsee situations. Now, all we need is a supreme gentleman title and fedora hat on sale in the cartel shop
  13. If a proper trailer was coming it would be here by now. Its what, 3 days from release? There is no point to releasing an advertising trailer after something is released, the entire concept is to get peoples attention in the buildup to that release. That statement had nothing to do with this expansion, he was referring to the different choices in the previous releases, eg: the conditional jace/acina living or dead and which side you supported stuff, which makes it difficult to come up with a state of the galaxy that isn't different for everyone Which is meaningless. Its twitter. Twitter is a failing platform full of bots, political crazies and general nutcases. The majority of people avoid it like the plague. If you want good word of mouth that affects the average persons view of a game, you'd better be making sure they get it from places other than twitter Indeed, and barely an expansion even by TOR standards at this point. I'll be surprised if there is even makeb levels of content and story. They already said one 'planet' is nothing more than a daily area and the story on the other is more than likely on the level of ossus. Maybe ziost length if we're lucky. If it were the size of SOR or larger it would be an actual expansion pack you had to buy. The fact that its 'free to subscribers' speaks for itself That isn't even remotely true. If it were this game would be on its last legs by now. The entire focus for this game is its story. That is what sells it, it has nothing else going for it There is no 'different approach.' The entire purpose of a trailer is to get attention and build hype well in advance of whatever is being released. If it doesn't do that there is no point in having a trailer. If there really is an actual trailer coming before or after release day, whoever is in charge of marketing needs to be fired because they don't even have a fundamental understanding of what a trailer is for More than likely belongs to malgus tbh OP is making alot of assumptions, based on nothing, and coming to very odd conclusions based on misunderstanding previous statements from the devs. Particularly with the 'branching storylines' nonsense. Its going to be two stories - republic and imperial, with little or no variation. At best you'll have a conversation with whoever is leading your faction based on whether acina or jace died on iokath
  14. Every word out of nymans mouth on this subject was nonsense. Read it again, he makes multiple contradictory statements. One minute its 'EA was pretty much hands off so you can't blame them for bioware screwing up' then its 'bioware didn't really want to make an mmo and was forced to by EA.' That is the very opposite of hands off. Then he tries to claim The game flopped after release because bioware had no plan to release major content/story updates at the time....then shortly after goes on about how supposedly all of the content up to the end of the zakuul stuff was planned and intended to be essentially what was released as far back as launch. Following that up with only the ossus and everything after it is 'uncharted territory' in that it wasn't planned for at or shortly after launch. So which is it? and claiming that the game was originally supposed to be just jedi and sith? Yeah....No. Nobody spends hundreds of millions of dollars to make a commercial mmo based on one of the largest IPs on the planet, with two entire factions and then only includes two classes. That doesn't even remotely pass the common sense test LOLwut? 40 hour week...in game development? Anyone who says something like that has no experience with game development. The hours in such a job are horrible and the industry is famous for it That isn't true at all. Jeff is making things up, as i've already pointed out he can't even keep his bs consistent to the point he directly contradicts himself multiple times. You're making excuses for him and coming dangerously close to making it sound like some kind of paranoid conspiracy theory that its been pointed out that this guy has nothing and has had nothing to do with the game, and therefore no basis to make any of his claims That is grasping at straws. He did not work on this game in any capacity, as has been explicitly stated Truth is truth, there is no 'truth from his point of view' He is outright making things up Which is a completely nonsensical claim, based on literally nothing, made by a guy who can't keep his claims consistent. It is not a rational design decision to not want multiple classes in a large scale mmo, let alone one with two entire factions If they did not want to make an mmo they wouldn't have made one. I'll say it again, which is it? First its 'EA was totally hands off guys its not their fault' then its 'EA made bioware build a game they didn't want to, and add a bunch of classes they didn't want to, and stories they didn't want to, and totally didn't have any content planned for after release....except for all the content they supposedly had planned out up to zakuul guys' No he didn't. He made claims and accusations based entirely on literally nothing
  15. At the risk of stating the obvious, swtor is part of star wars, therefore can be discussed here
