  1. I always have unfinished heroics from a planet as it is hard to get a group. When people call for heroics I'm either not at that story level or I've done that heroic. The low player numbers on certain planets also play a role. And the lack of chat with the online player base causes problems. Sometimes I'll be on the fleet with those heroics in my mission list and a bunch of people are calling out for those heroics on the planet not knowing there's a player wanting to do the same heroic too. And we both end up having unfinished heroics in our mission log. It can also be that I'm on the planet and that person is on the fleet or some other planet. This is why I've been asking for global chat channel or something that gives us all a way to connect to the other players for certain content. So far, in the game, planets segregate the player base into small planet communities and this is why SWTOR has been criticized as too solo orientated. They point out to instances but the truth is ... it's lack of communication caused by planetary chat. Need to have a common chat channel where everyone in the galaxy can chat with one another from any planet. For those who don't want to socialize and do things alone it's all okay for them ... but those who expect socializing within the MMO have been very limited in these situations. Sadly many players don't want the social aspect but grouping is rather a necessity for personal loot and progress so people group and then move on and if given the chance not to group .. will definitely not do so.
  2. Play SWTOR and quit WoW. That's all I'm going say. Hope it helps make up your mind.
  3. Fair enough I guess. Good reasoning. Thanks for the correction. Yes .. only first purchase recieves 50% off and as a subscriber. I wouldn't want to mislead other people into spending more money than they should. I've deleted it in my post.
  4. The question I guess is does it bother you if it's there? Would it make you want to quit the game? Does adding a leaderboard take away so much from your game that you are strongly against it? I am neither a hardcore gamer nor in a competitive guild so, me, advocating leader-boards has nothing to do with the fact that I want to go around and flaunt my achievements to others in comparison. I think too much epeenery has rubbed people the wrong way so much that simply asking for leaderboards is percieved as epeenery. Leaderboards are meant to be simple statistics shared to those who care to look into them. Those who do not care need not view them and all is the same. The statistics are already there in the database but just not made public. Competitive guilds are still going to be competitive regardless of leaderboards and casuals are still going to be casual regardless. Do the cons of implementing leaderboards outweigh the pros of it so much that the vocal few that are against it in this thread are being so vocal about it?
  5. Wow people must be quite comfy with decent jobs here to give so much flak ( or in their terms provide common sense ) to the OP and the RP player who wanted to transfer all toons to another server. It's either leave the game or pay the price to play ... and sadly leaving the game seems the more viable choice given the arguments from other users here. Using that 160 for a year's subscription would be much better than to pay it up front in a lump sum just to transfer 12 toons to a server where it's more enjoyable to play. People who have no sympathy for the OP neither have server problems nor money problems. I'd give OP and the player, who has 12 toons that are stuck in no man's land, the advice to invest 160 dollars in another game and play for a year in that game. 160 bucks may be small for some people and for them avoiding to pay 160 seems like cheating or just being stingy to them and that's why they're so vocal against this suggestion. But they forget or are oblivious to the fact that 160 is actually a lot for something like gaming for some people.
  6. A custom channel and invite who? The whole idea of a global chat is to create a common place for people to find like-minded people to socialize with either in the form of joining or recruiting to guilds, PvP or even craft buddies which is seen on fleet chat. It can also be just random conversations which depends on the server type and player maturity levels. I want that to be extended to other planets. That is all. Since while playing on a remote planet shuts off all of that communication which is found on the fleet. For the casual player it actually takes a while to get off a planet and during that period lack of access to the social banter that is actually going on can be improved in the game and thus suggested here. No need to bluntly shut down a legitimate suggestion just because it's a non issue for you or it's not your opinion. In fact, what I'm suggesting is actually present in every other MMO I've played and is lacking in this one. PvE is also competitive. While not everyone enjoys the competition and elitism is very offstanding it is undoubtly what PvEers play for. They want to accomplish completing all end game content and acquire best in slot gear as a guild. Why do people painstakingly do their dailies and collect commendations? Is it not get better gear? Is it not so they can progress and experience harder endgame level content? While speed in progression may not be an issue to many players, everyone does want to progress and achieve better gear eventually. To say objectively that only PvP is competitive and PvE is not is quite ignorant. Am I into epeenery? How would you know? Do you know me?. What allows you to accuse me of epeenery and say Im into it? Leaderboards are implemented in every other MMO I have played. People are making their own leaderboards and accomplishments here even on these forums. I'm suggesting Bioware just makes it official so people can play collectively towards a goal if such players have that in mind. Just because you aren't into epeenery doesnt mean everyone isn't either. It's not about epeenery it's about achievements as a player, as a guild, as a server. If achievement/progress orientation within a game is seen as epeenery .. everyone is an epeener.
  7. I agree with this and pretty much this is what I meant. There should be an option to turn off crap chat and spam but still have a global channel.
  8. I'm sure it's been mentioned and requested again and again. I'm just reminding how much we need this. Currently chat is segregated according to planet. And when someone is on, let's say Quesh, that player is cut off from the rest of the player base. The busiest chat is on the fleet and while the chat is full of nonsensical banter most of the times ... there are many times players could miss calls for PUG operations or Flashpoints. The queue finder made it quite nice to get a Flashpoint while playing on other planets. However, it is not the same with Operations. And while queue finder is a very useful tool, finding a group through chat is still used by many regardless of the queue finder. It's not just operations but also guild advertisements, trade advertisements all happen more on fleet. On planets it's more or less the call for a heroic and nothing more. People chatting makes it seem like there is life in the game. While I know there are many solo players who don't want to talk with people or players who only chat within their guild ... chatting and communicating is the life of an MMO. There are many casuals out there who solo stuff until they get bored and quit the game. You've got to pull them into the community because these casuals miss out on the enjoyment playing within an organized guild gives. I'm not sure why this has not been implemented. Is it technical difficulties or too time consuming. Or is it because by design if there is a global chat less people will hang out on the fleet? Let's say I'm on Quesh trying to gather resources like Diatium and Resinite but if an operation is forming I'd quickly jump into it. Or if I'm undecided whether I want to do a flashpoint or not .. certain calls might persuade me to go into one. What's happening right now is that a bunch of people wanting to form a group fail to do so because they are cut off from communication. There is no global chat on Quesh and because it's a short planet with small population totally isolated .. many players just quest fast and leave that planet ASAP which is a shame because many of the planets you guys have created are not appreciated as much as the fleet. Yes, a lot of players know the fleet and play the fleet game more so than many other planets. This is also the reason World PvP does not happen. We'd have to fly back to the fleet to call reinforcement. Oh there are 4 enemies on Quesh .. please come and help. Can't do that without Global chat. There are bloodthirsty World PvPers waiting for a reason to fight in open world. Make something like World PvP tokens so that a person who kills gets a token. If you get killed in World PvP .. get a death token or something. And you can use that death token to make a bounty or some sorts. And some PvPer wil take that bounty and hunt that player you put the bounty on. This will also make rolling on a PvP server actually make a difference because currently there is nothing different between a PvE server and a PvP server. Also make ingame leaderboards for PvE and PvP. MMOs are competitive and people want to brag about their accomplishments and achievements. To the extent that players themselves have to post progression threads or post world firsts, server firsts. Leaderboards also encourage community as we can check which servers are dominant on our server or other servers. It gives us a sense of awe and respect and sparks that competitive spirit so the guild leader rallies the guild members to gear up, progress, keep playing and achieve something. Make an official top 10 Guild leaderboard on the website and make one for PvP guilds as well. Many MMO's do a generic leaderboard but if you go beyond that and give different leaderboards it creates a lot of playing incentive. Note that I'm saying all these things from the playing experience I've been through and I'm sure not everyone will feel the same as it will be a non issue for them. Finally I just want to congratulate and thank you all for the hard work you've put into the game. The game went through hard times and revived to some extent (how much I do not know) with the Cartel Market. I hope the higher powers to be haven't given up totally on the game and plan to actually invest more into future content and implement improvements to the game to attract more players and make old ones return and stay. Yes I know there are so many whines and rants on this forum but I hope you still take the feedback because it really does make players like me to return to the game and I'm sure if more improvements are developed more will return and stay. Looking forward to Galactic Starfighters and I hope world PvP gets some love. I'll post more rants and ideas when it comes to my head again. Cheers.
  9. Under each server there is a Guild Recruitment Forum. Here's a suggestion. How about make Republic and Empire Icons so each faction can recruit under their Icon forum. That way we can search guilds form our desired faction easily. Some recruiters do not properly state which faction they are in and sometimes the only clue comes from their signatures. It also will show which faction is more active in recruiting, at least on the forums. At the end of the day, it is just a suggestion that came to mind as I was looking up guilds that were recruiting on my server. Cheers.
  10. Yes OP the restrictions are very very annoying and everyone knows it. The whole business strategy is to make free to play players kill themselves with all the restrictions till they subscribe. You can either play into their game and subscribe or play against them which is play free all character stories till 50 and only then sub. You can actually earn cartel coins through achievements and buy unlocks from the cartel market with those coins. It's a tougher journey but still very much feasible and I'm sure many have actually done this already.
  11. Cant blame pugs that they suck. Everyone has to start somewhere and there are many lone wolves out there not really used to the MMO hemisphere. Recruit those bad pugs into your guild .. so they understand the flavor of community. So they develop game sense and learn how to play the game very well. So they learn how to pass the huttball .. so they learn how to play for objectives .. so they learn how to kill the healer .. so they learn that their recruit gear stands no chance against augmented elite war hero premades .. so they too one day learn how to call other bads and tell them how much they suck too and then make similar threads on the forums. Thank you for your attention. You may now leave to peruse another forum post.
  12. For PvE go Assault For PvP go either For Explanation : read more threads and other sites etc etc
  13. Don't know if you check your own thread frequently but here's a build I used and had fun with. http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#801hMhZMsr0RrfkdsZb.2 Key to playing this build is pretty simple. 1. Use High Energy Cell 2. Use Hold the Line on every CD 3. Gut Everyone and always use HiB after 4. Use Fire Pulse and Stockstrike 5. Use Ion Pulse 6. Use Pulse Cannon and Mortar Volley on every CD and try to hit multiple targets 7. Move a lot 8. CC and run when targeted Know the pros and cons of this build .. or pretty much any tactics build with HEC Cons: 1. It's Squishy 2. Takes some effort to get high DPS 3. Not ranged and very melee Pros: 1. No need to care about ammo > allows the constant spamming of ammo consuming abilities 2. Very Mobile > If you use Hold the Line constantly (has low cd) you're like a tazmanian devil going around and gutting every enemy 3. A wide variety of abilities you can unleash in a rotation 4. It is melee Gear > go for combat tech and doesn't need as much accuracy as assualt builds so can go for more power, crit, surge etc.s
  14. World Bosses are a very good part of the game. However, there are some flaws which could be improved in my opinion. Unless you have a good guild or you are lucky to be on a server to have people form world boss groups .. most of the population never kill a world boss. These are some of the reasons people would not want/get to kill a world boss. 1. Didn't know there was a weekly 2. No groups forming 3. Reward is only for 4 people and random roll 4. Outlevelling the planet too fast to bother returning 1. Weekly - not sure what it even rewards because I'm always missing one world boss for every tier .. the quest itself takes up log space which is already cluttered with heroics and planet quests. Plus it greys out as you outlevel the planet boss level. 2. No Groups Forming - some guilds do run these for their lowbies but not all .. it happens when some 50 decides he wants to finish these bosses and gets a number of guildmates and then rallies the ppl on the planet. Doesn't happen too often in my runs. Maybe I'm just unlucky. 3. Reward is only for 4 people on a random roll - 4 out of a raid of 12+ppl get to roll on some 4 random pieces of artifact gear which probably they will outlevel very soon and the rest just walk away with nothing after all the time spent waiting for grouping and finding people. 4. Outlevelling the planet too fast to bother returning. - Now I'm 50 ... should I go kill SD-0 or The First? You know .. finish that grey Priority Target quest that's clogging the log journal? Rally a bunch of lowbies to kill it? So that more than half of them can walk away with nothing but the satisfaction that they were a part of a group that killed a world boss with the help of a 50? Suggestion .. make world boss comms and encourage at level players to group together and tackle the boss. I'd rather have a raid group of level 16s to 17s working hard to down The First and all of us getting comms for achieving it than to have a twinked 50 come and help us complete the weekly with the 50 getting nothing .. and us getting a free ride. I mean the free ride is better than not doing it .. but I think you get the gist of what I mean. Those comms can buy stuff .. u know .. good stuff .. not hideous gear or rehashed same model speeder with a few light bulbs on it. You know .. really new stuff that isn't only available through Cartel Coins. Anyways that was my 2 cents of a suggestion. Feel free to rant as well.
  15. It should and they know it. But the cash influx is just too hard to resist that they'll implement it later if ever at all.
