  1. "Now that you have been playing Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ for a while, we'd love to get your feedback and hear about your experience so far. Are you having fun? What are you enjoying in the game? What could we improve? Send us a quick note at: FeedbackSWTOR@SWTOR.com." Two areas in Swtor that I feel and both lacking and could use improving are the following. Firstly, the races in the game feel like they offer us nothing other than cosmetic appearance differences to character models. There is no real distinction in the game between the various rares. The closest we may get are things like a different voice. I realize that the way that the game is set up, with the starting locations grouped by class, makes sense. However, this does not mean that there can’t also be a little something for each race. Secondly, my biggest disappointment with the game is also related to cosmetic appearances, this time when it comes to character creation. We are given so few options that it is hard to really feel like your appearance is unique. Compared to a few other games, the character creation options are similar to what World of Warcraft offered; APB Reloaded, Rift, and Eve Online all offer exceedingly more options. I wish that we were closer to the models set by Rift et al than that of WoW. A few of these other games have introduced, post-launch, ways to retailor and customize the look of our characters. The Barbershop or an Appearance or Wardrobe are the most notable ways. I have my hopes that something like these ideas will arrive in a future patch, such as with the upcoming Legacy System Update. I also realize that introducing new options to character creation and customization, post-launch, will often upset those players who did not have those options available to them when they started; and have either grown so attached to their characters or just achieved a high enough level that starting over again with a new character is out of the question.
  2. im also an altaholic. i have been holding off on filling up all of my availale slots until after patch 1.2. it would be a big help to know what unlocks are coming. most of them are only cosmetic and factor in to character creation. while the suspense it killing me (slowly), i can understand it to some extent, at least for the parts that involve gameplay and actual new content. that being said, there is much similarity between these new race/class combo unlocks and things that most games wait to include only in an expansion.
  3. yeah, and none of them are what i would call very attractive, or having aged-well. what about affecting the aging process in others, such as non-force users?
  4. Anakin saught to use the force to keep his loved ones alive longer, ie past the end of their 'natural life.' in fact, he may hav wanted nothing more than outright immortality. what is the force able to do in regards to aging, its processes, and effects. i am mostly curious what ability the force has to manipulate such things. however, i expect that the use of that much Force would have some mighty, and negative or deleterious affects/effects on the user. i am also open to discussion of such related things. ps. i havent read any of the books; though at one time we had quite a few of the original books in our library. this was from somewhere after i was born in 1975 to my earliest memories. i am also very ignorant when it comes to much of the lore and stuff.
  5. darn, was thinking too much with my current char, a scoundrel, in mind. i like the sneaking around part, then walking up behind someone, and unloading my scattergun into them at point lank range. i was just hoping that there were more uses for a high critical with her, than just scattergun exploits. i will look into how a high crit rating can be applied to the republic classes that others suggested.
  6. great, but i forgot to mention that i was on the republic side. would that translate into a scoundrel? or are the two factional classes distinct enough that it is only try for the imp assassin?
  7. ive been toying around and tweaking a few builds of a few different characters. i know that i should concentrate on items that boost my classes' primary stat, and treat endurance as a sort of secondary stat. i have thrown together a few builds wherein i go and try to treat my critical rating as a tertiary stat. i just cant tell from the numbers and results which was most effective. i am mostly looking at mods, enhancements, colour crystals, and augments, as well as crafted items that add to my critical rating. sometimes i just dont have the right item available to boost my pimary stat and have to either boost something else (secondary or tertiary) or leave the slot empty. i was wondering if anyone has had the time & inclination to crunch the numbers or otherwise know: which class makes the best use of a high critical rating/critical chance?
  8. i was wondering what the best way to view or determine the base stats of an orange-type item were? currently, i have two oranges, one is without any mods installed, the other is fully modded out. the removal of all the mods will likely cost between 1-2,000 creds. and the differences of the base stats are small enough that i cant just obvious "do the math in my head." i want to compare both items, in their unmodded states. the items that i am trying to compare are, i think, an Esseles Smuggler's Jacket, a Terenthium Barrage Jacket, and a RD-07A Spider Body Armor.
  9. also some items like earpieces and headgear/helmets can have things that show up around the facial area.
  10. im about the same in level ranges and i am starting to wonder the same thing. i am not sure how clearly defined "the end of act 1" is, or even what it is that triggers it to end - level reached, a class quest completed, etc. searching around on a few other sites, i have yet to find much that specifically mentions the End of Act 1. edit: the other replies before mine showed up while i was typing up my post. thanks for the clarifications.
  11. good advice. my problem with waiting is that i am very impulsive and easily bored. oh look, shiny orange gear. and i am just itching to get an alt up and running to craft the hell out of Cybertech - which is a better fit for my Trooper Vanguard, as she is a cyborg, than the armormech that she has now. i would need to switch her crafting skill over from armormech to cybertech, which makes any more crafting i do with her, and especially the learning of any new schematics, not just pointless but a waste. i can easily just switch her over to cybertech, but that would them mean i have no one handling my armor-crafting chores. "Indecision clouds my vision."
  12. I currently have roughly 4 characters that I play, all on the Republic’s side. I went with one of each base class, of various races. While they are mainly all damage focused – dps, tank, etc – I ain’t much a fan of healers and support due to my solitary, non-grouping nature. My dilemma is what to do for my next character? I am finding that while I have each base class covered, that there are still a few Advanced Class options I would like to explore. Most notably are a Scoundrel, a Jedi Guardian, and a Commando. My existing chars consist of a Smuggler (main), a Vanguard (2nd main), a Jedi Shadow, and a Jedi Sentinel. All of them are in the level 13 to 20 range at the moment. I am finding that even with these 4 chars, that I am missing out on having access to a good many Crew Skills. My two mains handle my Armstech and Armormech; while my two Jedi deal with Synthweaving and Artifice. Combined, I have all other Crew Skills covered except for the following: Cybertech, Biochem, Bioanalysis, and Diplomacy. I’d like to create a new char that fills in the gaps in my skillsets and character portfolio. However, I would like something that contains enough new stuff to be fun, and not just a retread of the same content. I wholly expect that I may need to do some shuffling of my Crew Skills. Right now, I am more interested in the ‘newness’ of each Advanced Class. I am also very tempted to wait until I unlock my Legacy – just to see what it offers in the way of new character creation/customization options. I have already tossed out the idea of waiting until they release the inevitable expansion, as that timeframe is beyond me. In all honesty, I may have become bored by that point with my current characters and the Republic, and switched sides. Or I may have even moved on to another game – MMO or otherwise. I am currently looking for advice and suggestions. Maybe by the time I reach any sort of real decision, I will have unlocked my Legacy anyways! I still don’t quite know exactly when that becomes available. Around level 30, when you reach the end of Act 1, or some such.
  13. hi there. i was hoping someone knew of a good external resource or database for the secondary market value of items such as blues and purples. most of the time, there is not current listing for them on the GTN/AH on my server. its hard to set a sale price, or even guess what a valid price range would be. i know of the usual sites, from my time in 'other games' for which the listings and mods for Wow were quite extensive - and had years to develop. seeing how new swtor is, i wasnt sure what was out there so far. ive only seen a few that list the vendor buy prices, which i dont need.
  14. i read through the thread first looking for a mention of this. this game offers a too linear character progression. whether or not you are experiencing unique content with each class is debatable. but you are still stuck experiencing it in the same orders. levels 1-10, aka the starting areas get off to a good start. offering two different planets split between the 4 classes on each faction. after that, everyone goes to the same place. there is nothing by way of a parallel route, such as Retadine mentioned in his quote. taking his lead, i will continue with the WoW comparison. WoW even gave use different starting areas for each race (rather than by class), and outside of one or two of the races, each was different. in every mmo i have played since WoW, i have felt spoiled by this. and here it is not fair to compare fledgling games with one that has had years to evolve and expand such as WoW. my hope is that swtor will add more nonlinear content as it grows and expands. when the time comes for it to release an expansion, i hope to see not just new class & race combinations become available. i want new worlds, new areas, places to explore! if the devs could extend the variety of the two world starting areas further, to the next ten levels or so, it would be most awesome. i am also an altoholic. it has been two weeks since i last rolled a new toon. i have 4 toons on the republics side. each is within 5 levels of each other. i am slowly grinding my way through the same areas, with variations to the content, on each. not necessarily in the same order. i am becoming overly familiar with each location as i go. this is how i prefer to grind it out. it works for me. i like to be able to share loot and crafted goods between toons. one side effect of this process, for me, is that i dont have a clear 'main.' hence why my forum name is not character specific. i am as likely to be on any of my toons as any other.
