With biochemistry and med packs, when you re a med pack it becomes a blue with a hot on it, and re the blue it becomes a purple non consumed med pack that heals you and your compaion. I don't think there any varyation from that on medpacks, but could be wrong.

No, diffrent crewmembers offer diffrent bonuses to crew skills, but there minor, so pick the crew skills you want. Every race/class is the same stat wise, so there is no correct or better race/class combo.

The question is why do you need a modded shotty? It never changes the look there's no need for one. Just keep upgreading it. The reason for moded equipment is to keep the same look you like. There's no need for a moded shotty or vibroknife that ia's use.
