  1. Thank you for the info, I have no other options for ISPs in my area. I will look into a VPN and whether or not that may fix the issue. I don't believe my ISP would be willing to do anything about the other provider, but I will make an attempt.
  2. The bad node is not within my ISP, I will link a google drive folder with relevant information. I am located in the North American region, specifically North Georgia. I am currently playing on Satele Shan, but have the same issues with Star Forge.
  3. I have random ridiculous lag spikes, I have attempted all of the basic "fixes" to no avail. SWTOR is the only program/service I have issue with. A trace route has revealed a bad ping node. If that really is the issue, how might I go about changing the route to alleviate the lag? I have notified technical support several times with no real assistance rendered. So I turn to the community. I love this game, but if it continues to be unplayable I will have to quit again. Please help.
  4. Where are you playing from? ► Georgia, ~30 minutes north of Atlanta. Do you play any other games that rely on constant low latency connections? Any issues? ► I've played WoW, GW2, RIFT, Tera, and spent a good 20 hours a day on VR Chat when I was out of work. ► As far as any issues, I only had some long load times in VRC. Are the lag spikes prolonged/Is it an increase in lag or is a full on disconnecting for awhile? ► They come every 15 minutes or so, I believe I'm disconnecting but instead of kicking me, the game just waits to reconnect. Do the lag spikes show up in the in game connection info, or is it just in game hitches/invisible walls etc. while latency remains low? ► Both, sometimes I'll just be playing and the world isn't there after cresting a hill or something, other times the "server lag" meter indicates the one red bar, then Xs out and it skyrockets to 30k+ (where I'm assumed disconnected). Have you tried running pingplotter to find what hop it chokes on? ► Yes, and from what it shows the highest ping between two nodes was 170ms, during a spike, and that would be the Washington > Virginia Route (there are still 3 more hops after that aren't too bad ~30ms each).
  5. Upon further investigation I have found that the IP address from the game has conflicting Geo-location tags. It is possible that the servers are located in Virginia, but if that is the case, what would be the cause of my issues? I genuinely want to know if there is some way I can prevent these lag spikes from happening. I have a couple images so you can understand my confusion. In-Game with CMD Prompt Info Geo-Location Tags
  6. If you do a connection test while running the game you will find that you are connecting to servers in the area of 159.153.65.222 - 159.153.65.232 which are located in California. While running the game, run your command prompt as an administrator and run the command netstat -n -p tcp -b , once you are given the results, you can find the SWTOR application running a connection to the IP addresses that I posted above, which are in California. Even if BioWare / EA says they run them on the east coast, it's simply false. They do route connections all over the place, I hop 12 times as mentioned in my original post. You can trace the route your connection takes by inputting the command tracert [ip of server] , for example tracert 159.153.65.222.
  7. After dealing with Server Lag spikes for a couple of years, I did some research and found out that the EA servers used for all SWTOR servers are located in California. I may be the only one that didn't know this, however it does seem a bit biased to those people who live closer to the west coast. As I live in Georgia, it takes me 12 hops to reach the servers. With an average of 179ms, they've done a decent job optimizing the data packet transfers, but it can reach as high as 1000+ms, which is where my connection drops. I'm not sure how the European servers are even playable. I may be mistaken about how the data is sent/received and maybe I'm missing some further optimization done on the nodes in between locations, but that being said, I think the east coast players would benefit from having a server closer to us, such as Washington D.C., New York, Chicago, or Atlanta (*cough cough, my own bias, *cough). At the very least it feels nice to vent my frustrations here, where someone might see them, and say "Yeah that makes sense." Do I actually think anything will come from this rant? No, of course not, EA and BioWare are massive companies with millions of dollars, and they will do everything in their power to continue making millions of dollars, and avoid costs/expenditures and from a business point of view I totally agree with their model. As a customer though I do feel that they could do more to listen to our concerns, and maybe even address a few of them. Not really asking for a solution, but acknowledgment of the issue would be nice. TL;DR: Servers are all located in California, I would like more equitable distribution. - The Student of Citadel P.S. I don't enjoy lagging out.
  8. I love pretty much everything about this game, allow me to preface everything with that. There is just one major thing that needs to be changed. Marauders and Sentinels have one of the worst animations in gaming, when they acquire 30 stacks of "centering" of "fury" they literally catch on fire, this is annoying, distracting, and unnecessary. I'm not saying get rid of it, however at least make it toggle-able. Thank You End Note: There was a post made about this in 2013 and nothing came of it. HERE
  9. Hello, as someone who has played since release I can understand and respect the use of the unique character name system, as well as the amended system of allowing spaces. That being said, I have noticed that there seem to be quite a lot of names that are unavailable, in a crowded game I wouldn't even bring it up, however there seems to be a lot of the player-base which is no longer active. Implementing a timer on unique character names to allow new players a larger pool to choose from would make for a great update. Then if a player returns they would be granted a name change option. What I'm proposing is something along the lines of 6 months to a year of inactivity before the unique name is lost. This would encourage players to login to old characters and play them again, or delete them as they see they don't want to play that character anymore. Thank You for your time, a Student of the Citadel
  10. I just started playing this morning, I was wondering about a few things any and all answers are appreciated. What are Titles? {Title}{Character Name} |>How do I get one? How do I do a name change? |>How much does it cost? How long before I get my starship? |>I am playing as a smuggler. How do I download or install my digital content from collector's edition? |>Such as the mouse droid, dancing holo, ect.. Thanks again.
