  1. I'm so lost with all these changes! I played beta, bought the Collector's, played for about a year, and fell off the radar. Besides the occasional hop-in, I haven't really committed myself to playing. After watching a story trailer the other day, I decided I wanted to play the new story content, so I resubbed. Holy crap. I started with an Outlander token, since I had no interest in leveling up again. The F2P is egregious, but it's just as confusing being subbed. What do I need/should I buy with my Cartel Coins? I have 5,000! What shouldn't I buy? Is there anything I should be shooting for specifically with my Legacy tree? Why did I buy that cool looking lightsaber for 500 coins when it has no mods and I can't get to a market? Any tips would be much appreciated. I'm playing through the game fine, but I feel like I'm missing out now knowing what to buy/spend on.
  2. Hey all, I haven't played TOR in a while. I don't even remember exactly when, but I believe it was either right before or right after the Hutt expansion. Prior to that, I had played it straight through from early beta to that point. I decided to come back to get into the swing of things before the new expansion drops, and I was hit with a wall of new and perplexing content. I finished my main character's story, and I did most of the flashpoints, but none of the raids. Where do I go from here? What should I be doing? I'm still level 50, so how I do start leveling up? I'm assuming I need to buy the Revan expansion? How does the starfighter content work? Is anyone still playing it? How do Strongholds work? I couldn't find anything very comprehensive about them. Are guilds a necessity to get anything done now? Should I be looking for a casual guild? Is everyone on a certain server? I noticed everyone was on Harbinger, but I'm on Bastion. Should I move? Does the population matter? Does PVP vs. PVE matter much anymore? Is there anything particularly cool or noteworthy I should be gunning for in the Cartel store? Sadly this is just a FEW of the questions I have since logging in a couple days ago. I've literally just ran circles around the station being overwhelmed. Any help would be greatly appreciated, and any miscellaneous facts or advice you have that you think I need to know is also much appreciated! Thanks in advance.
  3. Sweet! Thank you so much. Saved me a lot of grief.
  4. I play TOR on my desktop, laptop, and on my friend's secondary computer when I'm at his house. I have the new UI tweaked just how I like it on my desktop, is there a file or some way to copy the settings to the other two machines so I don't have to do the whole thing over?
  5. I just finished the story quest on Tatooine where you find parts to help the Jawas rebuild their sandcrawler. The reward the Jawa gives me is a "Jawa Cloak" (even though it looks nothing like one), and let's me pick between 3 Hoth commendations or a level 40 blue item box (I'm 28). Is that an accident? Or did I do this in some random order?
  6. Wow. Preachy McPreachalot here!
  7. I found this post on her site, which is the reasoning in her own words...so take it for what it is. But yeah...the more I read the more she sounds like a teenage girl. It's kind of amusing at this point. Except for the whole crapping on the Jedi thing.
  8. Thanks for that. I love reading some of the TFN stuff. I haven't posted there in almost a decade now. That can be one horrible 'hive of scum and villainy'. Or to be more plain, total a-holes. Oh, and we should really stop arguing about the speech. It's incredibly irrelevant and I really like hearing more about the actual topic.
  9. That would be awesome if they tied the Chiss in that way. I was sad it was never brought up in any of the books after. I thought the coolest mysteries in the book were all the vague but very sure statements about them being seen in the galaxy for thousands of years. This is the perfect medium to expand upon that. And like I said originally, I too think it should be a content pack singling out a planet with a flashpoint or two, and not like a huge invasion event like NJO was. It would make more sense that way.
  10. I too despised the death of Anakin. That was the one annoying thing about the entire series for me. I LOVED Anakin (I was a teen when I read them), and he was my new favorite. I was pretty devastated when they killed him. I hoped every new series would be about him coming back somehow. Jacen I couldn't care less for, he got his whininess from his grandfather. I liked him until he didn't use the Force. Urrrgh. Anyway, an advanced scout party still sounds reasonable to me. The Chiss in the series mentioned preparing for them for decades (possibly more), and Canderous finding that ship can't have been an isolated incident. No reason to send a single fighter that far.
  11. I'm going to go read her blog for a while now. That's hardcore. I was on the fence before but if she truly meant all that...wow. That is some narcissism if I've ever seen it. I don't really see the Jedi as sifting through people trying to find the best. They're just looking for Force-sensitive people. There's some really crappy Force users and they still take them. I wonder what she's drawing all of this from. Possibly this is part of her own internal canon too? Maybe she adopted the Jedi as villains since the Mandalorians hated them. I also disagree about the LotF writing...aside from what was previously mentioned, I felt it was fairly competent writing. I enjoyed it a lot. I'll be able to give more perspective soon, I've been re-reading all of them starting with NJO. I'm on the Enemy Lines duology right now. Whoever commented on Allston's writing also had an interesting point about him...he makes the characters seem a lot more human and relate able, but also a bit more goofy. Smug, one-lining wisecracks litter almost every single page, and a lot of the character's personalities blur together because they start acting alike. Kind of bizarre.
  12. I believe in the latest books he's in his mid-60s. At times it can be a bit much, but they reference often the age and how they don't work like they used to. That, and (at least for Luke) Force users can stay pretty virile forever (i.e. Dooku, Sidious, Yoda). Anyway, I always wanted to hear definitively what happened to her. I knew there was a huge war between her die-hard fans and the people that couldn't stand her work. I was somewhere in the middle, leaning more towards not liking it so much. During the LotF series whenever it was her book I kind of had to eye-roll through it. She had a HUGE fetish for Mandalorians and everything about them, and it was super obvious. She also liked to point out and invent new flaws for any Jedi she came across. It seemed fairly childish after a while. The only rumor I've heard is that she got an early look at what they were planning to do with the Mandalorians on the Clone Wars series (either because she was penning a new Mando book or because she had friends, I don't know). Allegedly she was incensed at what she saw, and wanted it changed to fit what had been established (mostly by her) or she was going to quit writing them. They didn't change it, so she quit. I will admit, I do enjoy her vision of the Mandalorians far more than what they became on Clone Wars (faaaaar more). But I don't know if throwing a hissy fit was the right way to go about it.
  13. My thoughts exactly! Why I said earlier it was a bit depressing looking at the overall history of the GFFA is exactly this. It repeats itself over and over and over. We watch and invest in Luke and Co. through 3 movies and countless EU endeavors, only to learn that the exact same thing happened...100 years later the Empire is in control again, the Jedi are wiped out, and the Sith are back. It's been happening for a looooong time. As for the coral probe, it is true they COULD have only sent a few probes to scout out. I think it'd be far more interesting though if they sent whole fleets to different galaxies to check out which would be best for them to settle in, which could also serve as the story point for what I was talking about.
  14. NJO is my favorite as well, and I've always wanted a game to be made around. A TFU game set in the NJO would be pretty amazing. I don't mind the TOR timeline though, a lot of unexplored and cool stuff to go into. I like the Jedi a lot too, so there's a lot of Jedi lore you don't really get the in the post-movies stuff.
  15. Having 10,000+ years of story to delve into doesn't really require an alternate timeline. I think it will be cool to see what happens.
