  1. I'm doing warzones and FPs on my new trooper and I must say some FPs are quite unpleasant for low levels, otherwise its good xp and I think its a good idea to rack up some comms before you hit 65. Also you can do heroics between queues for some extra gear and xp.
  2. Just tried Taral V, the last boss has a DOT that deals about 160% of your hp and he cast that on a random member so you have to be very alert and it is frequent enough that kolto stations can't keep you up on a side note you can interupt fp bosses, that's something I realise today
  3. Whist I do not agree with hostile attitudes in PUGs, I must say people assumes that everyone is competent and have some basic knowledge about the Op. I started playing Ops about year and a half ago, back in 2.x everyone run 16m Ops, and with most people overgeared (back then ult comm gets you 180 gear which is a loooooot higher than the entry level of 156) it is easy to carry newbies and it was quite common for leader to spend a few minutes to explain the mechanics. These days it is much harder to carry someone, especially in 8m Ops where 1 baddie is a notable portion of the group, and especially in PUGs where most people are mediocre, there is very little room to carry people through Ops. M&B in particular is harder to carry coz they put out so much damage that tanks and healers need to do their job properly and there's also a relevant enrage timer that you cannot afford having a dead dps. Also people joining PUGs want to get it done rather than join to educate the others, Imaging playing football with friends, if you tell you don't know what to do they might spend a bit of time telling you what to do. If you go to a public football pitch where anyone joins and have some fun, and you turn up and tell them you don't know how to play.... yeah you get a whole lot more insults and yellings than in SWTOR.
  4. I manage to get through those cut scene with lower graphics settings. I suppose its a server thing coz it happened last expansion as well when I enter Rishii but not after the first few weeks when less people are there.
  5. Okay I just updated my game and saw a whole bunch of mails already, so I'll try to start sending things out before too many requests and i end up giving everyone a silver of the pie. Good to hear, maybe i'll give them a go when Gree Event comes around. Thats a short version of problems I have with ops, another is I'm living in Europe now and that makes joinning a raid team in a west coast server difficult. I used to travel a lot and west coast server gives the best average ping so I play on Harbinger but now that I've settled down this is becoming a problem. So yeah I pug most of the time and generally people suck, I'm fine with wiping time after time but what gets me is that after many wipes the group pull together and do things right, then the ops bugs out. After a while I don't want to try anymore when people report bugs on the forum after a patch. I've joined a few guilds and I don't feel attached to them, maybe coz I don't know anyone in person (all my irl friends have quit ). Afterall people come and go, and I spend good amount of time across my 22 characters, dat 150 ult comm limit and general lack of guild stuffs to do makes it hard to stick to 1 character and spend time with guild. Turns out I have about 20 M across my legacy, a few hundred K here and there adds up quite a lot, should've bought a rancor when they were cheaper Sent most of my creds now but I still have some lv 50 crystals and decos I can give, maybe some mats coz they are all over my legacy and its a lot of work getting them together. If you can specify what type of things you want that'd help as well.
  6. Can't stand this anymore. 2 months in and both ops are still buggy, yes you can workaround it but I prefer doing them without the fear of things not working as intended, not fun at all. The way they handle slot machine is complete rubbish, and I don't think I need to explain Yavin walker world boss is such a joke, compare to Golden Fury it has close to no reward, lagged so bad that I jumped off cliff while dodging circles,. but wait YOU CAN HAVE MY STUFF Yeah miss the days when drop party is a thing in Runescape, that was great fun community thing without diving into serious RP or group content stuff Well but SWTOR can't drop stuffs on the ground or people can't hop to my server to have fun or most of my stuffs are bounded so I can't give away a lot of my stuffs ...... ok looking back the last year and half I'm realising modern MMO is more like lots of people playing a single player RPG, maybe chat with guildies once in a while, and outside hardcore RP/PVP/PVE you might as well pretend other people as bots. Frankly I wish there was more social things you can do. Anyway I'll give away about 6-10M worth of stuffs, don't know what exactly what I can give out coz I haven't log in for a while and need to update the game first. Will edit this thread and give a list of what I'll give out. Send a mail to afbe in Harbinger and I'll send out freebies around next weekend. (Assuming Harbinger is up lol)
  7. Not speaking from personal experience here but would like to share some thoughts. My family lives in Hong Kong and I used to live there too, there's an infamous 'complain culture' there that has been a problem for a long time. People complain when they are not satisfied, regardless whether it is reasonable or not, or sometimes nitpicking the smallest issue. Companies tend to apologise and compensate (often more/better than what the customers are supposed to recieve) the customers so that they are happy. I suppose this is along the philosophy of 'customers are always right' and 'less trouble is better'. What happens is that this spread to everywhere. Parents complain school is not giving enough homework to students, so the school increase the amount of work. Ate half the dish and then complain to the waiter about the food so you get a new dish/ discount to the bill. list goes on... Another side of the complain culture is that, there's nothing else you can do other than complaining. For example, the political system is practically controled by China, and there's close to nothing you can do as a Hong Kong citizen. So people protest when things aren't going their way, or like the recent unbrella movement. Pro-China people would disregard their opinions because they are being destructive, but truth is theres nothing constructive you can do. Back to SWTOR this is somewhat similar, people get what they want when they spam enough threads. It may seem bad but really what else can they do? Apply for a job in Bioware and then change the game? If they are unhappy about certain aspect of the game the best they can do is voice out in forums.
  8. Judging from what people get and numbers from data mining, there's no reason to run missions for purple mats at all Its not even about 'fun', its a waste of credit to run for mats even if we treat all other rewards as 0 value, the expected credits per purple mat is now 500/(10%+25%x10%+25%*25%*10%+...) = 3750 and pretty sure thats lower than running missions
  9. Did Rav SM again this week with half the group 'very well geared', and it was a breeze. Bulo used to be hell for me as a healer but this time I just need to self heal while tank is grabbing adds aggro and then casually throw a few heals around Torque was down in 1:30, almost tank and spank outside of fire on the floor (5 dps 1 tank) Master n blaster was slightly harder but its just tank taking more damage last boss we didnt do coz... they are 'very well geared' and didnt want to waste time on that and that was 25 minutes for the first 4 bosses, we were on mumble but only had a few banter and discussion about what they parsed so with people overgeared and know what to do (mostly, not stand in stupid) its actually quite easy to clear the op
  10. You are speaking from a business point of view He was speaking from a game design point of view thats two completely different approaches towards a game and obviously there's a balance between the two, that's wheres the debate is at calling his opinion as blinding elitism frankly shows how little you care/know about game design philosophies Compare to pre 3.0, doing 55 hm fps and sm ops with a team of 156 gear were no less difficult than doing 60 hm fps and sm ops with a team of 186 gear now. In fact Draxus and Council caused a lot of trouble for pugs even when people are overgeared, I remember it took me 3 weeks to find a group to get past Drax back when gf ops was 8m, and had a week gone through 4 groups to finally get Council done. Also, there has to be a learning/gearing curve somewhere or else contents will become homogeneous and boring as the game expend, and you'll need new mechanics/ gear checks, but that has to be somewhat punishing or else they get ignored. If people refuse to learn/ work through these you can't just nerf them because that defeats the original intention.
  11. yup there was a thread in pvp forum
  12. But you don't get real responsibilities until fairly high level tanking starts at Hammer Station healing starts at Hammer Station DPS? lowest level of content that has enrage or difficult dps mechanics is (I believe) Kaon, LI, lv 50 fps and maybe KDY below that level as long as dps doesnt actively try to screw things up theres no consequences to what they do, they are pretty much there to speed things up. even most sm ops are like that, esp 16m where you only need a handful of dps to do the mechanics yeah sure good dps are great but there nothing nearly as punishing as tanking and healing for making mistakes in most group finder contents
  13. As someone has mentioned, only spike and mind maze are tied to stealth, backstab is quite irrelevant. Also, only 1 of the 3 specs actually backstab, shadow/sin tank just 'backstab' you from the front lol. The name of shadow/assassin gave you a false impression of what the class actually is I'm afraid.
  14. No, you get all these things even if you don't buy the expansion
  15. I think 8 man is tuned resonably well, 16m on the other hand is a major pain in the *** (well, you hv twice amount of baddies too) Couple days ago I had a group for ToS and 5 of the 8 people are sub 186 gear, I was a healer and had a chat with the other healer who decided to quit before the 1st boss because group is undergeared. then a dps 'step up' and respec to healer and we tried to 7 man it Come on, that dps is already undergeared and now he is healing in dps gear (he has 700 odd acc from 172/186 mods) with a tank (!?) implant I honestly don't understand what people are thinking. Then last night I was stuck on Torque, 8m. I told tanks they need to tank swap but noooooo first 2 pulls they never did so we wiped, then PT tank finally realise this and start kiting the boss when he had the debuff. The other tank (jugg) realised this at some point but was very slow at swapping, usually the PT need to kite for 6-10 seconds before the jugg taunted. Tank swap isn't even something new and people still have no idea what to do, we are even on Team Speak but they never communicate....... When tanks finally figure out what to do boss enrage at 100k hp everytime, yeah sorry dps is undergeared...... I think I need to gear check everyone next time because there's no way a PUG can carry undergeared people at this stage
