For starters, I wish I was playing SWTOR and not pointing these things out... however, I'm not. ;P Looking at SWTORs EGA program I'll simply state that you guys should simmer down, as frustrating as it is. As a player my sales/marketing experience could easily find fault with the way EGA is being done; As a software engineer I can see why this might be a necissary rollout plan. People GREATLY underestimate the difficulty of creating an MMO from the design side; I can't pretend to know how EA/Bioware implemented their servers, but lets take a VERY simplified example into account. Let's suppose that clients (ie, you) are handled via TCP sockets over the internet by a piece of server software designed to run on one four-core processor. Let's also assume that all users connected to a server are split amongst four threads (based on zone location) to utilize all four cores, and are processed as a linear linked list. Now, 4000 users spread across all zones should roughly be 1000 users / core. However, those same 4000 users if they all logged in at the same time in starting zones could (by design) be relegated to one core, leaving the server overburdened even though it wasn't actually utilizing the hardware. This is an extreme oversimplification and I'm sure their software is better designed then this, but the point is that without knowledge of how SWTOR's servers are implemented, we can't presume to know what specifications need to be met to ensure proper server load and an enjoyable experience for end users. And I guarantee you, EA/Bioware will suffer a lot less ragehate making you wate a day or two then providing a horrible "first impression" experience to the masses otherwise. Spamming the forums with emo-rage will only skew their loading data; Guys, just sit back, watch your e-mail, and go get shot in the knee in Skyrim for a minute for hells sake ;P
