I am sick and may be a couple more years till a full recovery. I read. Game, post here.
  1. It's a dead end money sink mission for slice to get those. I have a friend say 'what are they" and I have succeded in giving away 2. No one buys them, because just not enough items need them. I have had 1 piece of gear that needs them myself. I don't blame the player base for not understanding something they don't see much of, so have little use for. They need to add this slot to more gear.
  2. I do know SW lore. There isn't much art in the SW movies to judge how much art has changed. Fashon...well how much can a jedi robe change? And I have seen a couple examples of Republic tech that looks mostly unchanged, but for the majority of TOR vs SW movies, it's not the same. As for the old Empire and the Empire of the SW movies..I have shown with links why it look almost the same. I'm not going to retype it here. Just say...read the 2 post above from me, and go to the links. Super footnotes...Empire tech doesn't progress because it vanishes till it is rebuilt. Sienar Systems is a fictional company that builds the Tie Fighter from plans rumored from Emperor Palpatine (who also built Darth Mauls ship Scymitar). As for the Star Destoyers seen in the movies IV V and VI, we know that there are other types of ships the Empire uses during that time because they are talked about in the Cantina scene by Han Solo. Why keep that look? Because the Empire is the Sith Empire. Palpatine is a Dark Lord of the Sith (by way of teachings and belief not birth of course).
  3. No.THIS is what the thread is about... From the OP. He is bewildered why the LOOKS of things have not changed. It's even in the second sentance. Want me to quote it again? You. Can't. Read. Or decided not to. The Rule of Two is why tech long lost appears in a later era. I never said it prevented tech from developing. And your quote is in itself an absurd, since I doubt you've been thru any dark ages yourself, let alone one with high tech to know this, to know what would happen. And since it's a MAKE BELIEVE galaxy, and the writers WROTE that it happened, it did. Follow a link. Read. Also, I was showing the post I was replying to..you know the one I quoted at the TOP of my own post, to be untrue, that being the creators at BW didn't know any story and needed writers to make/read it for them. I can tell you didn't understand what you were reading. Since I didn't claim the Ro2 stopped tech advancing. I linked to the stuf showing the Star Wars team (writers and Lucas Arts) claim WAR did it. And if you have ever read a book, a fiction would help, you understand that in a MADE up world/galaxy, writers make things happen by saying it happened. Anyway. SWTOR DOES have a wireless communication. It is beter than what we have in the real world. It's called the Holonet. Another link you won't follow or read is here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comlink. They are even in the game (to underused for sure). In a nutshell, it's costly. If I seem insulting, it's because I do historical research for a living and I Am insulted. If you want to disagree with a point (fact or opinion) I make or find, do so. But do not be so lazy you gloss over my post and missquote me or fill in your own blanks. Don't not follow a link and pretend to know what it is. The OP asked a question in the form of a statement. I used Links to the right info for an imaginary galaxy and writers who made imaginary events. I answered his question.
  4. Because they do know the story, they know they had to be before the "rule of two" in order to make the game and story they want. Or all the players would draw straws to be one of those 2? In any case, SWTOR wasn't made in a 'vacuum" of story. Soon after 'A New Hope" authors began writing books. Dark Horse Comics began "Tales of the Jedi" and so on. Other books and comics have since followed. And it all goes thru Lucas Arts, which has a panel and gives the yes/no vote and maintains continuity. So they had to find a place in the Star Wars history (timeline) to tell their story. Here it is..http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Timeline_of_galactic_history. Add the books in http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Timeline_of_books and you can see the story fits where it is now. As for the "tech never improves, I put a small post with the very cliffnotes version. But people never read post, they just jump in. The "Old Republic" went thru a 'dark age' between the time of SWTOR and E1PM http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Republic_Dark_Age. The galaxy has gone thru long, almost non stop wars for a greater part of it's history. It suffered. So as a result, when Darth Bane started the 'Rule of Two" and collected and secreted as much Sith lore and tech as he could, when Palpatine began his crawl to power, it was based on the tech from THIS era, and be better than what was in use by the time of E2NW. IF you know your lore, untill the X-Wing, the Tie Fighter was unmatched. And, for example, if you've done the right quest in SWTOR, you know that they have at least prototype stealth on small shuttles. Then watch E5ESB. In running from The Executer the Millennium Falcon 'vanishes' to which Adm Piett saying "No starship that small has a cloaking system." Before claiming that BW doesn't know it's story, you need to learn what the story is yourself. And as you can see, if you take the time, there are reasons ships and other tech in 'the future' look so similar to SWTOR era. Signed Star Wars Fan Boy.
  5. Keep in mind, since it is being overlooked, the Empire side lost. The Sith beaten to what amounts to extinction. All that Empire tech becomes "lost tech" long before the Clone wars. It isn't flying around in space non stop for 3000 years. It stops being seen. Then is forgotten. The few, if now only, repositories of that data would be the Sith Lords after Darth Bane passing it on to each other. It isn't just luck that The Empire, under Darth Sidious would have access to that tech. The Scimitar, gifted to Darth Maul by Darth Sidious, was at the time only the latest in a long line of such ships in use since...well this time period.
  6. I think that the ability to have a small selection of voices to pick from may have been a cool edition, but overall MOST of the voices don't bother me. I even want to BE a voice actor for this game. However, what they sometimes gets me. At times it's lame, others way to funny! For example, at the end of a BT run, my OP friends says to the Jedi Padawan "I'm going to kill you, Lady" HAHAHAHA! I missed the start of the fight I was laughing. He's so polite in his proclomation of doom!
  7. I'll give an easy noobness answer! This is only a repeat of what others have said BTW. At higher levels, and for raids, buying stims etc can be prohibitevly costly, unless you make them yourself. And some if not all other crew skills are not of the same in game value. You can read post where players break down the numbers in time/credits/mats needed. Even at low levels, if you go to your stims vendor you will see how pricey they are. I have another player I run with most times I play, and he is most often broke because he buys them. As with all things, your results may vary.
  8. I just want one gig. A chance to say I was a part of Star Wars so I can tell everyone!
  9. Where did they find their voice actors? How can I become one!
  10. I like all the stuff, in game and out, I even like the box, but was let down by the map a lot. I used to collect maps as a kid, and still like them. It should have been bigger. On way better paper. I have old NatGeo maps of better quality. It's seems almost a lame last moment toss in to me. When they were putting together the CE, the B-Team was in charge of the map. I started with the statue and we all went OH! Cool. Didn't want to open the book, but couldn't resist removing the wraper, and I love it. I didn't need the instalation disk, but the tin is good. I have yet to open the music, I am unsure why it didn't get a tin holder also, it is deserving of one (maybe the B-Team poked into that). But when I got to the map, I was even embarrased for Bioware over that! I had a room of meh's.
  11. Add to #1: If guild can get capital ships, add those to space PvP and missions. The Dev's said #2 will happen in time, I wish not. That's what choices are for, and what happens. To many people want everything, to not have to choose and face the consequences. Please never #3. Meet people. Join a guild. Get friends to join the game. Meh, on Number 4. And the rest Most should happen. Some needs to happen. And the big one. Optimize the game!
  12. LoL...I used to bar hop and go to dance clubs, so I feel this way every time I walk into most Cantinas. They are WAY huge, WAY empty, and WAY to quiet. Since bothe the original and the prequel included a bar fight of sorts, I am also disappointed that is lacking. Not talking PvP, but the NPC drunk bully that picks fights.
  13. Lol...first they decide who answers the CS phones!<sarcasm BTW>. I saythis because every so often in a CS complaint thread someone says they'd rather they work on the game...as if when the phone rings a developer has to run and get it. Of the all 3 people I know in RL who play TOR, we all need the UI fixed. Parts of it sits on top of other parts (The top corners) and we're not running anything fancy, just 1 screen. UI improvments help most everyone I am sure.
