  1. I know a lot or regular PvP players are playing less and less, solely due to Vandin - this now includes me. Tonight I entered 5 WZ's, 4 of them Vandin _ I,ve had enough and will not play until its pop frequency is at least reduced to an even random level with other wz,s. Of course if it continues after 5.1 I will have to reconsider my subscription which will be a shame as I have been subbed since game launch. I would like to think that the developers have some understanding that Hutt ball is disliked by many many players and that merely recreating the same formula in different forms is driving paying players away. Unfortunately this is more in hope than expectation based on past performance
  2. Its typical of these developers tbh. Find out what gamers hate the most then give them more of it because it either easy for them or they lack imagination. What they lack most is any idea of how to actually connect with their player base.
  3. Just to clear up 1 previous point - the PvP mechanics in SWTOR WERE created by the PvP team from Mythic and who previously created the mechanics for WAR. As a long term player of both WAR and SWTOR, in my opinion they forgot much of what they had learned with WAR and repeated many many of their mistakes from the early days of WAR. However, in their defence, I believe they were forced to use the mechanics created by the class developers (PvE) which is why PvP class balance has been terrible, although overall I think it is better now than it was in v1.0 and the following many changes since. There are however some changes that would need to be made to make tanks perform in a similar way to WAR tanks which would mean a total re-design, re-coding and new abilities. Given the state of the game commercially I seriously doubt that the investment required would be forthcoming. I have all classes in all specs, so if the nerfs to tanks make them surplus to requirements I will play other specs, and so will many others. I suspect this will mean a shortage of real tanks for all aspects of the game. This will be inevitable as in PvP at least a dps specc,d character when supported by a decent healer can provide both guards and taunts.
  4. This problem really occurred when Guard was given to DPS specs. Tanks were given boosted dps to stop them re-speccing or leaving the game as their main role was diluted. Now if they reduce dps in PvP, players will switch to DPS specs and guard (I already do with great success on my Assassin main and its perfectly viable with a half decent healer) The end result will be a shortage of tanks in PvE unless the guard ability is also removed from dps specs to give tanks an alternative purpose in PvP. History has proven over and over that these developers are totally unable to predict the effects their changes will have and so mistake after mistake has been made at the cost of reduced population and subscriptions.
  5. I am in agreement with the original poster. In my opinion the developers have lost a vision of why people play games, whatever type of game. It is to have fun, nothing more, nothing less. If its not fun they will go elsewhere and their subs with them. The Devs have become obsessed with getting people to play all the different types of content in the game, whether they like it or not. So here is some news for them "You can not and will not force people to play parts of the game which they find, boring, tedious or of no interest to them, whatever that element is. People play the parts they like and expect some reward in an MMO for doing so - take away the objectives and rewards they walk with their cash. My advice - stop focussing on making change for changes sake. Focus on what individual players want not solely on your guild focussed pets. Individuals pay subs, guilds do not. Let people play the elements of the game that they want and stop trying to force them to play the parts that they do not. Just so you know my own preference I play almost exclusively PvP and I feel totally disenfranchised by the conquest changes.
  6. I have no issues at all either to USA or European servers .even when using my laptop If it isn't your rig then I suspect its an ISP issue
  7. In the latest update you made changes which are so strange as to be down right stupid - and guaranteed to annoy many in the player base.. 1/ Sorcerer/sages are and always have been top healers,- so lets nerf Merc heals? Stupid beyond belief. 2/ Warriors are and always have been the easiest class to play and consistently do most damage so lets nerf deception Assassin even though of its 3 disciplines it does the lowest damage. If you want the game to be only warriors and Sorc/sages then say so and the rest of us can stop wasting our time and money. At the very least explain your thinking and please please stop basing tthese decisions solely on population demographics and try playing the game a little
  8. I see a direct parallel with the ultimate death of WAR (Warhammer on line, another BW title) several years ago. This year 3 European servers 2 USA, next year I expect 1 European and 1 USA then closure the year after. As a PvP player I see the same problems, a total lack of understanding as to what PvP players want, i.e. 1, a modicum of balance, and, WZ,s that do not favour specific classes i.e. Huttball Ops/Scoundrals. 2. Even gearing so that newbies don't get continually face rolled by max geared players based on gear alone (and no the current system does not work well). 3. instead of hiding exploits and hacks by giving similar abilities as hacks to certain classes - deal with the transgressors and get rid of high speed group boosts, teleports and other effects which are not accepted in other games. 4. Get rid of totally inappropriate abilities as soon as they become apparent i.e Marauder/sentinel group speed boosts (I think the individual ability is not a problem it is its group based nature), sniper aoe which has no cast time and does very significant damage that can destroy a low geared character in addition to their high damage output from other abilities at the same time. This type of aoe was what started the death knells of WAR, and its developers lack of understanding of the real issue. The big mistakes were made prior to launch - WAR was primarily a PvP based MMO which failed because of its failure to deliver a sound PvP system and to fail to listen or investigate its players concerns. So what did BW do? brought in the Mythic PvP development team who failed with WAR. Additionally they focussed on guilds and groups which demand continual development for Ops and totally disregarded the individual aspect of PvP which requires little development once the WZ,s are in place other than class balance issues. I have played this game since pre launch, continually as a sub and I love the universe and the game in general because I am a Star Wars fan, unfortunately many others will not be as committed or prepared to pay - sadly I feels its just a matter of time - the feeling of Deja vu is strong in me.
  9. I think that the drop in server populations and subs will hit the issue home more than any post will, however, if you want it read you should post in General as your best chance. I am pretty sure no one from BW reads the PvP forum, probably why they have screwed up on such an epic scale. PvP players only want a level playing field and are not so focussed on the better gear shinies that PvE,ers want. The current situation makes gearing to maximum faster for PvE which allows PvE players to enter with less experience but a massive gear advantage thus distorting the level playing field. Add to that the design of some wz,s to favour specific classes and it is easy to see why PvP players morale is lowering , leading to cancellation of subs. New update in 11th April, lets hope we see some action to turn things around, and not make them worse with the new cxp cap.
  10. OK, I have to ask, do you hate players with a normal job? People who earn a wage and pay subs? For those of us who work during the week and live in Europe you take away several hours from one of the two days a week when we can play in the afternoon. Why do you insist on annoying your customer base for no explained reason so that we can at least understand your reasoning and rationale. Do you have anyone on your staff who has any concept of customer satisfaction and customer service
  11. Your team mates probably feel you should learn to play too. They are playing wz objectives while you run around focussing on dps numbers and contribute little of value to a win. High numbers are easy, lots of aoe and splash damage which contribute to nothing except your ego.
  12. Unless other players en mass are experiencing the same issue it sounds like an ISP routing issue. I had a similar issue when I had BT as my ISP. I switched to another company and no problems since.
  13. Firstly I would like to thank Mr Musco for his post, it is somewhat unusual to get an acknowledgement of player concerns, and I must admit as one of the first posters on this issue I was angry with the lack of prior notice of these changes and its initial non-disclosure in the patch notes. His post covers that issue for which I am grateful. There is however a much bigger issue. From the perspective of many (I believe most) regular PvP players, the system is now totally and unacceptably broken. This is made worse because it has been taken from a good place to a bad one in one monumental step. Speaking for myself I don't want a gear advantage or disadvantage, I want equality, a level playing field. The previous system made it easy to get best PvP gear in a short time, so equality was easily achieved. When this was taken away at 5.0 the bolster still allowed a level of equality. The removal of the bolster makes us more reliant on gear coupled with an unreasonable grind. The old system allowed for playing as many alts as we wanted in a PvP environment and being competitive on all, the new system does not. The removal of specific stats for PvP is also, in my opinion, a mistake. PvE players absolutely hate PvE based gear being available from PvP and so I have to assume the disparity between PvE reward rate and PvP is to mollify them, but at the same time alienates the PvP players. Assuming a future expansion in the approximate 1 year cycle, very few PvP only players will have bis gear even on one character. Then assumedly the gear grind will start again. At this point in time I don't expect that expac as I think it is unlikely you will soon have enough income to support its development. In order to remain loyal, the message we need to hear is "we screwed up, we will fix it, and this how, and this is when. I suggest you might like to consider reviewing the system with genuine PvP focussed players, because whoever came up with this system has little appreciation or understanding of the PvP environment, and what paying players want - the result lost subs, probably leading to longer queues, leading to more lost subs in a downward spiral until server merges and eventual maintenance only, followed by closure.
  14. So conspiracy theory number 1 as to BW/EA motives: With this 5.0 system there is a massive gear grind for any player, unless you are lucky with in-pack drops. If you are not subscribed this becomes a much much bigger mountain to climb, and so gives subscribers an edge (eventually). So I suspect in their greedy little minds they think more people will subscribe. The fact is many are unsubscribing. So if this is their thinking it is badly backfiring.
