  1. While I completely understand that you didn't want to release too many servers and then have to merge them, I think your overall strategy was flawed. The main problem is the number of servers released during EGA. I believe your total number of servers online now is probably about right - however since they were phased in slowly, what happened is that the servers opened during EGA hit high pops even before release. What was not considered properly, I believe, is the fact that when people joined at the official launch, they joined servers their friends/guilds were already on - and the result is that the original EGA servers are now completely overloaded, while a number of the new servers that came online with the launch have low populations. What should have been done was to release more servers during the EGA to account for this, and spread the population out earlier. If a server has queues during EGA, what do you think will happen at launch? It will have absurdly long queues (and some of the EGA servers already had absurdly long queues) I think EA/BW needs to take a careful look at this issue to determine a solution. Perhaps offering character transfers between servers will help somewhat, so friends and guilds can transfer if they wish (for free, since this is the result of EA/BW's mistake), but I don't think that alone will solve the issue at this point.
  2. Yeah, I don't really get what the OP's complaint is when we get kicked off at 7pm until 12am... Kinda worse than having the game down from 1am to 6am.
  3. I would strongly encourage EA/BW to institute this type of reservation, whether its 10 minutes or 15. It would go a long way to avoiding the major sources of frustration people experience, though it won't make the initial queues go down. I also hope (assume) they are planning to release quite a few new servers on launch day. I think one of the factors that was not considered thoroughly (maybe it was, but I'd still highlight it as an issue/potential issue) is the guild pre-launch system and how that impacted server populations. Even though new servers are released in waves along with the invite waves, even new people joining are going to the "old/original" servers due to their pre-launch guild. This means that even though a new server is released - a lot of people are going to the already full servers to be with their guild. Not sure how the issue could be fixed, but its something that needs to be considered, as I believe it will not get any better with the official launch - even if new servers are brought online.
  4. The one change I would recommend is that when people disconnect they have a 5-10 minute grace-period to get back on the same server with no queue. That way people who get booted due to their personal computer/internet problems don't get stuck in a super long queue.
  5. I wouldn't say it useless, but as far as credits go its extremely expensive to keep up to date...
  6. 11/4 and I just got invite with 2nd wave today. Been fun chatting with y'all but... umm... SEE YA IN GAME!
  7. Based on the post from Rockjaw at the end of the day yesterday I'm feeling pretty good about my 11/4 date being at the end of the 2nd wave/beginning of the 3rd wave. *violent coughing and pasty look applied to prepare for going home sick*
  8. Epic fail thread. QQ moar. Just be happy you have a game to play, and before launch to boot. You have a queue? Aww too bad. So does everyone else.
  9. One... more... Night (hopefully only one night).
  10. They wouldn't. They'd have a lynch mob on their doorstep; a lynch mob consisting of Darth's and Akbars no less.
  11. You should be. Certainly by the 2nd wave, but I'd give you better than 90% odds on first wave.
  12. Here's hoping the servers coming down don't result in smaller waves tomorrow.
  13. I would try the launcher (and/or check your code redemption page). Also, that's when you purchased it. When did you redeem it?
  14. for the 1000th time, no that is not correct. It is an additional fee beyond the game price - they both show up as separate line items. $5, and then $75 (for the digital deluxe; other prices for other versions). It IS a separate fee and it is NOT coming off the game price (confirmed by a friend who was charged after getting into the pre-order).
  15. Very helpful original post. Lots of clutter building up in the thread though - sorry guys we'll never successfully re-create the epicness of yesterday's thread. Grats to those who got EGA - good luck to those (including me) who didn't for getting in tomorrow. Seems promising at least
