  1. I have not had time to go through fully but I do know that these guides do take a great deal of time to put together and just wanted to say thank you! Your time and hard work are appreciated.
  2. Awesome thank you for the quick response. I will certainly put those nuggets of wisdom into practice. Maybe I just need to level up a bit more. I dunno. I just feel invincible as my warrior yet on my inquisitor I feel pretty squishy. Both in dps specs. Maybe the heavy armor that the warrior wears makes a bigger difference than I thought.
  3. Hello Swtor Community: Would any of you seasoned Sages/Sorcerers out there be willing to share a bit of wisdom regarding solo play? I do fine on the general stuff and most heroics. My troubles are with harder content such as certain Heroic 2s and the like. Basically I have tried a DPS companion but I seem to inevitably pull agro and things get kind of out of control. I have tried setting my companion to tank but it seems like it takes forever to kill anything. Setting my comp to heals usually involves me running around like a chicken kiting and maintaining dots while getting the occasional cast off. I usually run lightning/TK spec. Is there another strategy or is this the way of the sorcerer/sage? What specs do you run and what are your comps set to? Cheers,
  4. Thank you for the suggestion. I am currently looking at the operative or the assassin.... ugh decisions.
  5. I am coming back from a very long break (over 4 years). I have been agonizing over which class to play for the last week or so. When the game launched I leveled all the classes on both factions but as I have been away from the game for a long time I am looking at starting over on at least 1 fresh new character. As my time is limited somewhat I am looking to take one class to start and take through all the expansions to the end of Onslaught to experience all the content story, to group with occasionally and to have fun with in pvp in non rankedI liked all the stories from all the classes before so I really do not have a strict preference. I am looking for a class that has the solo potential for harder content. My understanding is that the nerf? (changes) to companion healing have made the game slightly more challenging in some regards. My worry is that I start a class and I get to a point where I am unable to enjoy the game at a solo pace with the class I selected and will have to potentially start over (I am somewhat limited on time these days so I would rather not). Any suggestions on class? Are all of the classes still pretty capable of doing pretty much all the content available more or less solo? Cheers and Happy Gaming!
  6. Hey Everyone. I realize that all classes are able to solo but I have a question regarding the harder content and Sent/Mara survival. Specifically weekly hard modes and such. Currently I am playing a Jugg and I know they can pretty much solo anything but I am not really interested in being a tank so I was looking at a more DPS focused character with excellent solo capabilities. Cheers
  7. Whoa! I don't know what to say but a huge thank you for taking the time to put all that together!! It is greatly appreciated! You are bang on when you state that knowing your enemy's skill set is essential! I know that when I am toying around with my merc, I just hit ye ol shield whenever I get into hot water. I will have to read and reread this a few times before putting it into practice. Thanks to your detailed explanations it should give me a pretty solid footing. Thanks again,
  8. I was wondering if there might be some general advice that could be offered in regards to efficient and smart usage of defensive cool-downs and utilities in pvp. Snipers seem to be provided with so many tools that seem to be specific to certain situations. Unlike other classes that tend to have more generalised abilities. In playing other classes in a pvp setting and have noticed some really smart snipers out there who are able to do a great job surviving when being focused. On my sniper, when I am focused, I seem to melt like butter and am having a hard time figuring out why. I realise that the choice of ability I use greatly depends on the class and type of damage being thrown my way and also smart positioning etc..p.lay an important roll. I was just curious if there might be some general guidelines out there for when to use certain abilities? I am not necessarily looking for "press this if this happens" type of thing, although that might be the case. This issue might comedown to "I need more practice" type of thing and a L2P but that is why I am asking because I want to L2P. I really enjoy the sniper class in PVE and want to focus on the sniper on all aspects of the game. Thanks in advance for any insights, suggestions or any link/video referrals.
  9. Awesome and thank you so much for the DETAILED replies!! I was simply looking for a starting point and have found much more.
  10. Any of you "pros" out there able to offer some advice on spec and utilities? I am so confused since the change? I checked Dulfy but things seem outdated. Thanks in advance
  11. Well I am not a philosophical type but being positive is a personal choice. I really cannot tell you what there to be positive about, that is up to you. If you feel that "they" have killed the game for you then I respect that. Like I mentioned I enjoy game and will continue to play as "I" find it a positive experience. I am not trying to come across as a hypocrite or anything. I was just sharing that I feel like the changes are not totally negative. Those that feel the changes are detrimental seem to be voicing their opinions in greater numbers which is great, it opens up debate and change. I do believe that there is a silent group out there that feel the changes are O.K. and I was just voicing the other side of the coin is all. Happy Gaming!
  12. @Darevsool There was always a chance but not necessarily a guarantee. To get some of the best gear involved getting raids of up to 72 people and raiding for 8 hours straight sometimes (Plane of Fear I am looking at you). You could even lose your corpse and equipment if it all went poorly and if you did manged to get rezzed you were tapped with a loss of exp. Die enough times and you started losing levels. If I recall correctly (it has been a while since I played EQ) the chances were decent that what ever you needed would drop but then again you had to compete with many people for that piece so in essence it sometimes took months to get anything you needed if ever. The game was pretty hardcore. I mean it was refereed to as Evercrack in the day. If you did not invest an absurd amount of time you ultimately had little to no hope of getting the "best" gear. And the game was not very solo friendly. It was one of the first of it's kind and therefore had little to compare it too. Again, do I believe the new system is perfect? Absolutely not. I personally do appreciate the fact that there is a bit more challenge at getting the gear even though it is somewhat random. Hopefully they will listen to the community and fine tune the grind but still make it meaningful. I am willing to give it some time as I love the Star Wars environment and the storytelling. It is important to voice concerns and opinions, that is how change is created but I wish people would stop being so negative and offer positive criticism rather than the doom and gloom "this game is sucking my will to live" attitude. Just my 2 cents...again (Up to 4 now cha ching)
  13. There have been a lot of concerns/complaints regarding the new 5.0 gearing structure. I have been playing since 5.0 launched and honestly sympathise with many players as it is very challenging/random to obtain new and usable gear for your character. BUT I think it does have some benefits. Let me preface this by saying that I am an old school MMPORG player from the days of the original Everquest. I enjoy SWOTR but obtaining gear in the game was not that difficult. The old school games such as Everquest were almost impossibly difficult to obtain any epic or decent gear and even if you managed to beat a "boss" there was no guarantee that a piece that you were after would even fall so there was an element of randomness to it as well. Once you did get it, it meant something to have that new piece. I am not saying we need to go back to a system like that as it was incredibly time consuming and frustrating. The new system allows for some element of chance without really being too difficult and hopefully will instil some appreciation when obtaining new gear. The old system was more like a check list of items you had to obtain by doing certain tasks. For example I would pvp, get the points and turn them in for a new piece of gear. At least now it seems there is an element of chance again. For example I was really tickled pink when I managed to get a new Blaster Rifle for my Op through one of the command crates. As with everything there are different points of view and I do appreciate the new sentiments as well. I do not believe the new system is perfect, as it does not necessarily reward good or smart play, but with everything change takes time and hopefully with some refining, gear will start to mean something again. Just my 2 cents...
