Currently you can only gain Galactic Reputation and Cartel Market Certificates through hypercrates, on top of that, you can only gain some Reputation through very specific crates. Unfortunately most of these crates aren't available anymore and even so, the drop rate of these items is so low that you aren't guaranteed to get them meaning you're spending potentially anywhere from a few dollars to hundreds in attempts to acquire a very specific item you're not getting which seems unfair to players of the game.
No game play isn't ruined just because you don't get these items and spending the money in attempts to get them is of your own free will but it seems as if it should be made "easier" in a sense that you should be given the ability to gain for specific groups, like Binary Star for example, by doing missions/quests during the Bounty Contract week which if I remember correctly isn't currently available or at least if you buy bundles of hypercrates/multiples, you should be promised at least one or two Certificates or Reputation drops.
