  1. According to the Trooper story line, Rakghouls are a Sith created virus. They can't bomb the planet because it would make recovery that much harder and in some instances, release chemical's stored in bunkers that would render whole areas uninhabitable at all. not to mention that the rakghouls are slowly becoming a sentient force sensetive species in the bowels of Taris. The settlements on Taris are relief workers, researchers, mercenaries who protect them, they are investigating the geographic possiblility of recover, the science behind the rakghoul plaque, they aren't just landing back on the planet and living in bombed out houses like nothing happened.
  2. My flag waving Republic Trooper will happily lie, murder, bomb and commit genoicde in the name of the Republic because our carebear jedi won't. Need a crime investigated or a victim comforted? Call a Jedi. Need an imperial outpost bombarded from low orbit that just -might- contain innocent imperial citizens. Call a Trooper. They give me dark points for executing captured Sith, but I have no way to safely transport a Sith warrior in custody back for questioning, and afterwards they thank me for killing him? I won't kill republic citizens just to cut a corner, or damage a republic world so it won't sustain life just for an easy fix, but I will execute imperial hostages all day without a lunch break as long as its for the greater good of the republic.
  3. When I think of an assassin I picture a fat overweight balding irish man sitting in a dark room under a dangling ceiling lamp making car bombs while drinking whiskey and complaining about loyalist pigs and the IRA rightiousness. Maybe everyone's idea of an assassin is a little different, but if you play Star Wars, The Old Republic then you are playing what they think an assassin is. And their version of an assassin seems to be more in the scope of Darth Maul and less Warcraft Rogue, and nothing like an IRA bomb maker.
  4. Uh, this is exactly how Gunnery Commando's play, all attacks have casting time or charging times, but with only one stun on a 1 min cooldown. Oh and I forgot, Commando's do not have any interupt ability. Just to put everything into perspective.
  5. If you aren't specced into healing as assault commando, it doesn't really do a whole lot of good to heal while you are being attacked, better off just using a med pac because its instant and heals for more.
  6. I want to know who is one shotting people with grav round and then have them teach me this secret. I've never one shoted anyone with grav round before, it seems utterly impossible as it does not do nearly that much damage considering everyone in pvp gets huge hp buffs to like 12k, most my grav round has ever done in pvp is I think 2k on a crit. So according to this guy and his funny math someone out there is doing 12k+ grav round hits.. now that is utterly amazing and I want to learn how they are doing it cause. wow.. that is just, so amazing that it seems ilogically impossible. (sarcasm off)
  7. He made a very valid point in his post by just quoting the OP in another thread. Kudo's to him for doing the work to show everyone else the OP's true purpose, there is no flame war here, just hard facts. Only one that seems to be trying to stir one up is your post calling him out as a troll or a flamer for bringing honest facts to the topic. This entire crybaby thread is no different then any other MMO, were you had bright wizards or fire mages who had 2 to 3 second cast timers on big hit moves. People see Commando and think it is suppose to be a machine gun firing non forcer and so their lightsaber wielding character should be able to defelect all their blaster shots and then kill them in one hit, and that is not the case. Come back down from dreamland if you will, The Commando is really not much different then any other class whos entire skill tree is based around 2 or 3 commands which all Commando's use, Your class, whichever one it is is also based around 2 to 3 commands that you use repeativly, force jump, sweep, master strike. force lightning force lightning force lightning.. You are only whining and complaining because you are not taking advantage of situations while facing a Gunnery Commando as lost of people have posted before there is so many defenses against it that it is almost a joke and only people who are not smart enough to identify a stationary Commando with a massive assault cannon are the ones who get shot and debuffed. In the end you are just adding yourself to the list of people who have died in a pvp zone because a Fire mage pyro blasted you, or a blight wizard fireballed you, or a gunnery commando grav rounded you. Identify the class for what it is, a caster class.
  8. They do have something like that, It is a globe shaped icon that is on your hotbar when you start, it dispatches a shuttle to take you to the point on the map you have unlocked and select, Unfortunatlly.. It has like a 4 hour downtime on it from when you use it. (excessive exageration of the downtime but it sure feels like 4 hours between use that its often just easier to run there)
  9. A large portion of the fan base that has been watching TOR since it was first announced are SW-Galaxies players, they came here because Galaxies was ruined by S---- ack can't even say the name, with expectations that Bioware would take a lot of the good things from Galaxies and spruce it all up and add Bioware's famous story telling to the mix. This is really expectation verses reality, Bioware looked at Galaxies and saw a failing MMO and didn't want to emulate it or take anything from it cause it was obviously dying, but it didn't die because it was a bad game, it died because S--- aaaccck I need a shower now, rolled it in bantha poodoo and put it on our door step, as much as the Galaxies fan's loved their game it was made unplayable, they loved it so much the fans themselves have gone further then any other MMO's fanbase and tried to keep emulations of it alive on free to play, private owned servers. So when people heard of a new Star Wars MMO backed by Lucas Arts, hopes were high, expectations were high, they wanted Galaxies back with updated graphics, and engines and that is not what we got, we got this.. instead. Non Galaxy fans don't understand the issue Galaxy fans have because they didn't play galaxies, they never had a house full of decorations, they never leveled up through 20 levels with a sand people rifle that their guildmate made them and then mounted it on their wall as a trophy, history of your character. No when something is no longer needed to them. They simply vendor it and away it goes. They never had the thrill of completing Ace Pilot quest solo for the first time or having the guild come together to build the gunship you unlocked that would be later used for guild space runs and transportation to dungeon events in space. There was alot of good things in Galaxies that really brought guilds together and made lasting impacts on the people who played it, the fact that none of this made an impact in the development of TOR is what causes wounds in the Galaxy fans who are disappointed in TOR. I see galaxy fans and non galaxy fans on these forums putting up suggestions and ideas on how to make this game better and almost every one of them I can't help but think after reading it is Well that was in Galaxies, and so was that. People want the complexity of Galaxies, they want free roam space, and bioengineering pets, crafting that requries player skill and a global market to encourage people to interact. A little story for you from Star Wars Galaxies on the social interaction. When I was a wee bounty hunter before I got good gear, I went on groups with my guild to fight sand people, they talked me through it, gave me orders, told me to stay in the cantina and kill any sandperson that came in, left me with a healer type to back me up while they went out to trigger parts of the quest. It was fun, it was strategic and engaging and when it was over a schematic for a really sweet rifle dropped and they gave it to me being the newest member of the team and the most in need of a good weapon. I thanked them kindly and then asked around where I should get it made at, because in Galaxies not everyone can make a gun, and some people are legendary in their crafting proffession. Some of my guildies pointed me to a guy who lives on Tattoine, so I asked around and found his guild and asked his guild mates who gave me his name so I added him to friends, as this guy was suppose to be the premier gun maker on all of my server. I waited a few days till he showed up online when I was on and I talked to him, he said he didn't really make guns no more and was pretty busy researching bioengineering with his alt, but my persistance and polite manners won him over and he agreed to make me my rifle and even pulled out some premium resources he had hidden away in his house. I fly to Tattooine and rode my speeder to his workshop were he set to work on it and we talked for a good hour and I added him to my friends list because it turns out hes just a nice guy who loves the in depth crafting system. When I returned to my guild with this premium rifle made by the legendary gun maker of my server, (which had his name permenantly stapled to the item description) custom named for me, the guild was so impressed with the fact I got him to make it (Think Hotari Hanzo from Kill Bill) that it was the talk of the guild chat all day. I kept that rifle well past my max level and used it on many bounty hunting missions and groups until I got a schematic for a compact assault rifle with better base stats. But despite the sentimental attachment I had to that rifle I had to go with something better so I put it on the wall of my house above my display cases and all my hunting trophies, skulls, hunting tokens and collectables. By the time I was ready to stop playing because of the NGE my house was full of history and memories of my adventures across the galaxy and I felt like an old retired bounty hunter whos been from one end of the galaxy to the other, and to this day I miss it. I don't see TOR having anything remotely close to that level of attachment that is required to sustain an MMO through years of development.
  10. Why do you hate it so much? What if they just spammed Charged Blast instead? Its virtually the same attack. Are you saying Jedi, Sith, Agents and Smugglers don't have one or two attacks they just keep using over and over? The facts of Grav round is, it is a setup attack that allows Troopers the chance to use other attacks, they don't spam it endlessly for 1 it costs ammo and is only usefull against a single target and requires a cast bar to use which can be interupted. Second without talents it is virtually identical to Charged Blast which has the same cast time and damage on it. I see Sorc's doing nothing but lightning and aoe lightnign over and over and over again, I see BH's doing nothing but missle and flamethrower over and over and over again, I see smugs and agents jumping behind cover and using snipe over and over and over again, are we seeing a pattern here now? How about we all sit down and just complain till we are blue in the face about the other guy spamming their main attack or setup attack, and then wait while the other guy counters and says they aren't spamming it, its just their setup attack. Yes you see Grav round grav round grav round, because it has an armor debuff on it and can give them chance to use HIB so that is of course the first couple attacks you will see, but what do they do once they already landed 3 grav rounds on you? Full auto? Plasma grenade? Hail of Bolts to keep people from using an objective? How is that any different then any other class in the game? Sith are going to lightning kite and lightning kite and lightning kite and aoe lightning at objective points, Muaraders and Jugs are going to force leap and aoe attack, stun, attack. Sorc's and Sage's are gonna bubble up and bubble up and bubble up, BH's are gonna Dot everyone with Fire and missles, fire and missiles, fire and missiles. Why don't you look at the commands you spam at people before you start a thread complaining about people spamming an attack at you. This game doesn't have a wide variety of attacks, Everyone is spamming something because every skill tree is based around 1 or 2 attacks. Educate yourself on the game mechanics of other classes before posting a waste of space thread like this.
  11. Rift horribly failed on the event stuff, its the reason I quit. Mega world bosses in level 30 areas, running around on the loose instant killing level 30's who are trying to quest and now can't because the entire zone is over taken by level 50+ elite mobs as part of the event? Now a good MMO event to compare it to is Brewfest in Warcraft, get drunk in game and in real life and try to do that pony keg run on a ram and see if you remember it in the morning. Galaxies had some good events too with Darth Vader showing up and killing people who did /hug to him, and skywalker handing out quests to rebel players. Imperial drop ships releasing dark jedi acolytes onto groups of afk xp-farmers. Good times.. Good times.. This is a single player game with some limited Co-Op play and a chat box.
  12. 3 dimensional space combat with its own level system, repeatable quests, challenges and free flight exploration to find resources or random space events like pirates, asteroid belts, or giant worm monsters inside asteroids. Oh wait that's just star wars galaxies with a couple extra events.. Still a good suggestion.
  13. If he want's some pointers, I rage quit this game every other day. It doesn't feel like TOR to me unless I rage quit after 4 or 5 hours of playing.
