  1. In a future patch it would be nice to see a little bit of freedom, exploration, maybe a different branch to your story quests in, just anything to help the game a little less linear. I think this would help the game's replayability. Also, more raids, and stuff to do at endgame would be good too.
  2. First off, the game has/had potential, maybe still can be a major mmo in the future, but the clock is ticking and atm, I think it doubtful this game will not see a good drop off in numbers, let alone slowly grow in population. Now, this is just me and my own opinion and I am in no way trolling, just being totally honest here. When I started in beta, I thought this game was amazing and had really awesome potential, and now months later, and a month and a half since EA, nothing much seems to have changed (That everyone really wants anyway) and this is what will hurt TOR in the near future (And why I can see why it is being called Tortanic). Here are the 5 things that are so glaring and obvious, I cant imagine why BW didnt have these things corrected, changed, flixed or altered in some way, either before launch or shortly after: 1. The total lack of exploration, very linear (on-rails) worlds/zones/gameplay: For me this kills any replayability with wanting to roll multiple alts on each side. Doesnt help that 90% or more of the quests will be the same and even more so, with virtually no change in where you can level in. For me, this is the biggest buzzkill in my enjoyment in this game. The very ancient Hero engine doesnt help. 2. Lackluster choices in races: With such a rich history/lore of an IP such as Star Wars, it boggles my mind they went with mostly humanoid races. If you like the current selection, thats cool, but for me I like playing an alien, exotic race. Wookies, Droids, Ewoks, (whatever race Greedo was, General Ackbars race, etc). I use to play Wow, and when I did, i never played Human, cause well, I just think humans are very boring. With an IP like SW, i just find this unacceptable. And please dont say, "Well they didnt want the Cutscenes/ VOs to go "raghghgh"". That just stinks of being cheap and cutting corners. I never played SWG, but i cant imagine that game being as lame in choices as TOR is. 3. Static, Lifeless, "Cardboard-like Worlds": The games graphics arent bad, but even then TOR looks like it came out in 2008. But the biggest issue here, for me, is the total lack of immersion and interactiveness of the worlds. No random NPC doing a routine task, no wildlife, no weather patterns, no day/night cycle. If you play Wow, go to SW and you will see kids chasing squirrels. Is it so hard to come up with basic code to least make the worlds seem alive. The only thing you see is unclickable npcs frozen in the background that move very slightly. This either reeks of this game being rushed or being to concerned with sales forecasts. Again the outdated Hero-engine doesnt help. 4. Lack of basic features/horrid UI/Menus: Even most F2P mmos have even the most basic UI features. No Tot, no combat log, no macros, no guild bank/incentives/perks. Really bad AH design, the crippling ability delay (Which, I know BW is working on but still). Totally borked PVP balance (Iilum) . This really surprised me with the lack on basic UI functions. If you are you going to copy the top dog of MMOs, at least make it so the player can adjust the UI. This just screems laziness to say the least. Also, menus that close when your companion returns. The GTN which cant even have a search function is just nuts. And you cant even select which part of body armour, you want like say "chest". Even beta had that function, so BW actually went backward, instead of forward in that case. 5. Load screens: Another big game-breaker for me. Leave planet, load screen, go to oribital station, load screen, go to ship, load screen, selection planet, load screen, ad nausem. It would be scary to calculate how many hours you would spend at the loading screen in a years worth of TOR playing. I'm sorry but this gets real old, real fast. No thanks. In summary, if BW addresses and changes this issues, and basically does a major overhaul of the game, then I would probably come back. But their CS is questionable and they seem to ignore most players requests and change minor or pointless stuff and add more content, instead of fixing current content. I am sure their is already a mass exodus of players leaving, I am hope I am wrong. I really wanted to like this game but until they change all the major issues, I cant play this anymore. Sorry the for long read.
  3. 1 month is up, is the game numbers going up? or down? anyone know?
  4. Think BW would have way more success if they made a SWG 2 instead of a Kotor 3 mmo? Imagine a new SWG game but done right, with BW story elements and kotor features? And also there would be no NGE/CU mess.
  5. Numbers up or down? Still alot of heavy/very heavy/full servers at peak hours? Any word on the % of players that stayed after the free month? Still over a million subs?
  6. Really baffles me, that BW has not updated, changed, or fixed the UI issue. It needs to be fixed, big time. Why they did not at least, enhanced it, before launch is beyond me. Is it that hard to do? They couldnt even at least added combat log, Tot, something for their first patch? But yet they add new content? Seems to me, they are ignoring the complaints. I'm sorry but a UI from 1998 is the one of the big things keeping me from enjoying the game. I am sure the Rift people wouldve added it long ago, if this was their game. Anyone else annoyed by this?
  7. This game is so awesome! The gameplay, graphics, custimiztion, sound, pve, pvp, UI and Story are so rad! The Pros: Custamization/race/character selection: Much more advanced than Wows, also alot of races to choose from. PVE/PVP content: Much more than Wows at launch. Wow didnt even have BGs at launch and only one raid. Story and Voice acting is top-notch. Worlds are very nice and cool. UI is prettty good and better than Wows. Sound is great GTN is much more advanced than Wows too. Professions are more numerous and really important to the gameplay. FPs rock! The Cons: Not many to list but here are a few: No swimming Load times could be a bit shorter. Overall, this game will beat Wow and be the top dog by summer 2011! Around 10 million accounts!
  8. Game is a major dissapointment, heres why: Outdated engine, hero engine, why? Ancient UI, with no customization whatsoever Stale, lifeless worlds with no exploration with frozen npcs that are part of the scenery Broken AH interface PVP is so bad, with no brackets wow! Space combat looks and plays like it was made in the last minute on a $2000 budget Lame, boring humanoid models, no exotic alien races and why cause of voice and design limitations, what? Quests are mostly fetch this or kill this, and get old real fast. Professions are worthless, except for 2, which are getting nerfed. No sense of community, sharding is so lame. The developers seem to avoid addressing the most wanted issues and added content or other pointless fixes. Game is already loosing subs, the game biggest problem is that people want a interactive world to play in and have plenty of options in gameplay. A story/voice acting is nice, but when you spent 95% of your resources on it and neglect the rest, like gameplay and substance, then once people get over the storyline and realize the rest is mediocre at best, then SWTOR will be like Warhammer in the end, have a million subs, then drop like a rock. I got bored and saw how limited this game really is. and after 100 million and over 5 years this is really, really dissapointing. This game wouldve rocked in 2003.
  9. The first major patch imo is very dissapointing, while the added content is nice, why is it so hard or take forever for BW to make the most requested changes, fixes, and adjustments to this game. 1. The UI needs a major overhaul and shouldve been fixed before launch. 2. Give life to the npcs instead of being frozen in the background (Walking, talking, clickable) 3. Make the GTN more user-friendly (search bar please!) 4. Add server forums 5. Change the companions auto-follow so they dont get in the way when you click on a node or go to a vendor 6. Add weather patterns, wildlife, swimming, etc to make the worlds not so lifeless 7. Make the dialogue choices have more interesting conclusions that matter later in the game. If BW did most or all from this list, it will greatly add to the games long-term replayability, right now i wont be keeping my sub going past Jan 20th. Guess I will be playing Skyrim and Fallout: NV and Saints Row 3.
  10. Sadly this game is a huge letdown, heres why I think it will be F2P in 1 year or less: 1. Stale, lifeless worlds, frozen npcs, motionless mobs, no swimming, no wildlife 2. Lame race selection, pretty much all humanoid choices, being human is boring. 3. Story is nice but gets in the way after awhile, before you know it you are wearing your spacebar out just to get a simple, fetch quest 4. Sharding the servers to the extreme, lack of server community forums 5. Clunky, broken UI with no customiziation at all, no combat logs, ToT, scaling, isnt this 2012 and not 1998? 6. AH is a chore to use and why no search function. 7. Game is already starting to lose subs as people are realizing how "average" and dull the game is. If you copy Wow then at least add all the features. 8. Pvp is whacked, with no brackets and a stupid RNG reward bag system. Also Huttball is weak. 9. Space combat is a huge joke, Sorry but I stopped playing Star Fox after 1998. 10. Quests are repetitive and mindless. After Month 1: Game goes down to under 1 million subs Month 2: Around 700K subs By summer: Less than 500K By Fall: 300K or less In 1 year: EA announces SWTOR is F2P with Cash Shop, population balances out around 200k.
  11. Mass Effect 1 was epic and would play that game twice rather than TOR. Mass Effect 2 tho, wasnt as epic but ok i guess.
  12. I dont think this game will bomb like Warhammer did but I think there will be a noticeable drop-off in subs after the 2nd or 3rd month, around the summer subs might hover around the 400K to 500K range. So might have Rift numbers, unless they fix/change the issues everyone is asking about.
  13. Sorry I was hoping this game would be a major winner and give mmo players another AAA game to play other than "that other game". Sadly, its very mediorce at best and it is very obvious most of the budget went to the story/voice acting/cutscreens instead of gameplay. A. The stale, lifeless worlds, no animals, npcs that are part of the frozen environment, no swimming, no day/night cycle. B. The very old and clunky UI with no combat log, target of target, lousy AH interface. C. Lame character creation screen, blue human, red human, spikey human, blind human. Pretty dull. D. Quests get old quick, either kill or fetch quests. E. Have to listen to a cutscene every time i want to do a quest does get old after awhile. F. Too many load screens. G. PVP is whacked and unbalanced, no brackets, very weak. H. Game is WAYYY to linear, even if I got a char to lv50, just one path for each side, no optional areas to lv, pretty makes the wanting to lv alts a total buzzkill. If BW ever corrects the above issues, then I might give this game a 2nd go around but with the last patches seems to avoid the issues everyone wants to see corrected, not getting my hopes up. This game just feels rushed. If people like this game, then that is cool but this game had potential but before long, I got that "meh" feeling. If Bioware ever makes a Mass Effect mmo, hopefully it will be much better.
  14. Its not QQ, just think the costs gets a little ridiculous past lv20.
  15. I think skill training costs get to out of hand once you get past lv20. I am only lv21 and 1 skill cost is now 1600 credits, while I only had 2 skills to upgrade then, it costs me 3200 credits. I am trying to save for the first mount at lv25. Isnt normal riding skill cost 40,000 credits? I am betting that by lv25, skills will cost around 2500 each or higher. I am not buying anything at the AH besides some cheap enhancement items for gear. I vendor nearly everything except for blues, purples and other items. I only have 45,000 credits. I have slicing but since it got nerfed in the knee, I dont think it will help balance the increasingly inflated cost of skill training. I can only imagine what the cost will be at lv40 for just one skill upgrade. 10,000? I think Bioware needs to "adjust" the cost a bit. Who else thinks so?
