  1. I love these replies so much. <3 Sanctum is one of those servers I don't think I rolled on... but I've heard a lot about on the forums. But, again, I've never really heard the sort of information I've been looking for. All of these posts haven given me a lot to consider. I have the same mindset. I have nothing against those groups coming from other games to SWTOR or any pre-existing guild. It's just... difficult to really carve your spot in a guild that's been around for an extended period. I think I should maybe define my idea of 'heavy RP', because what you said is more or less what I prefer: /g is OOC, while there's a GuildIC channel. When I say "heavy RP", I simply mean heavy weighting. If you assume guilds are around for PvE, PvP, and RP... I would prefer a guild that's more weighted towards RP, if that makes sense?
  2. Thanks for the responses. (: Ajunta Pall was one I was looking I more in-depth, simply because it seemed to have a higher population. It's kind of a crappy standard to roll by but I figured "greater number = greater chances", although I still haven't fully decided. But thanks very much for the input - all of you have really hit the nail on the head in the regards that I don't want just some "Roll on _____ cause we r teh awesomez" response. I completely agree with this, btw. Light typically means 'none'. Medium is the go-to. and Heavy seems to have this bad rep as like "try hard RP" We should start going by crafting standards... what are they... Moderate, Abundant, Bountiful, and Rich?
  3. Yes, another one of these threads... I swear, I've reread all of the recent threads like this but, in my opinion, the OP (and subsequent posts) never really hit the key things I'm looking for. I must've rolled a character to at least 10 on every server and inspected the Fleet to kind of get a vibe for how RP is on that server, to some extent. However, on a lot of the RP servers I've rolled on (Rubat Crystal, Jung-Ma, Ebon Hawk, etc) I found some issues with how things were. Here is my list of desires in a server... perhaps some of you with extended experience on particular servers can help me. Open RP A lot of people seem to think that because their guild is full of RP, their server is great for RP. That's not the case. A lot of the servers I encountered had 3-5 primary "RP guilds", all of whom have known each other since pre-release or earlier from other games, and they dominate the OOC channels. If they aren't RPing, there simply isn't RP to be found. On my primary server, I can count on one hand the times I've just wondered into an RP going on that wasn't just a handful of guildies - no me gusta. My characters are always IC via /say and /emote - all I ask for is just a little spontanious RP. Active and Known RP Channels A lot of servers have adopted channels like /OOC and /RPOOC and such, but every time I join these... they're either very quiet, or very... 'close knit'. This goes with my previous point, a bit. Trying to organize an RP or even just have a conversation is like trying to pull teeth sometimes either because no one is listening and/or talking back, or because the channel is comprised of a handful of guilds that don't care what you're saying. Heavy RP is Good RP I see a lot of guilds both in-game and on the forums label themselves as "light RP", which I've come to decide is code for "We don't RP, but technically it's an RP server so....yeah." and that's just... ugh. For me, RP is important - it's that thing that keeps me coming back for more. Like I previously mentioned, I'm always IC via /say and /emote... although I'm somewhat against RPing during quests or using the IC story at all (for continuity reasons). Empire or Bust I'm not asking for an entirely balanced Imp:Rep ratio - that ship has loooong sailed. However, I really want to know which server's factions are most active. At the moment, I'd really like to roll Republic (if not just because if I have to do the same Balmorra questline one more time, I will punch a baby), so if your server has a large Republic community, that's a plus. Server Type I'm honestly a bet more tempted to roll a RP-PvP server but, as those are limited (and I don't really care that much), my real preference comes from location. Living in Ohio, I prefer to roll east coast - it makes scheduling between friends a little bit easier. However, I also tend to play at the wee hours (10pm-4am), so at times... West Coast servers appeal because those would typically be 7pm-1am... much more normal hours. All in all... I think maybe I'm asking for a little bit more organization then any server can offer due to the game's youth? I will simply stress the ideas that I desire a healthy amount of open and regular RP, even if it's just in cantinas, as well as knowing which faction side is more active/populated. Just looking for responses like... ______ is a good server because ______. Here are the channels to join: Also, any forums that are in active use for the community, be in swtor-rp or otherwise. Thanks for reading! <3
  4. He doesn't mean that individual people are posting walls of text. He means that at large RP events, the sheer number of people posting causes the chatbox to become flooded. For this reason, when I'm actively RPing, I will resize the chat box and temporarily leave public channels like General and such, to keep things calm. Imagine you and some friends are in a crowded resturant. Each table is trying to have their own conversation, but you can hear the people across the room just as easily as you can hear the people right in front of you - with enough active conversations, it becomes impossible to seperate the conversation relevant to you from the rest of the chatter.
  5. I shall throw my hat (or face) into this ring. (insert generic facebook pic dump here) And one of my cat, Cocoa Someone yell if either of those don't work and I'll upload them elsewhere. Should work though. "/
  6. I completely agree. I've been in the Mando Enclave on Dromund Kaas and was able to catch an RP going on in the Sith section next door. The size is quite extreme.
  7. Why Cleveland get no love? Oh wait, it's Cleveland. Diggin' the weather... snow, mansoon, 50s, snow.
  8. As far as I've been told/seen, Power is the stat you truly, truly want. It increases the damage of both physical and force attacks. Marauders aren't really geared towards crits - that's more of an Assassin thing. Although this might be different for Anni spec, I could be wrong.
  9. There is at least one 'Beacon of HOPE' guy in every Warzone I have ever done. Usually it's half the other team. It's insane. xD Also, can you please remove the Moon Tree guild from the OP? Due to the fact that I've found more open RP on the Imperial side of things, I don't think I'll be going back to Republic side. "/ When I find a group of like-minded individuals who want to make an Imp guild though, I'll be sure to post it for you. (:
  10. Since your Artifice is about twice as high as I've ever had it, do you eventually get to make Mods? I forget. Really bugs me that I can make everything BUT mods... can't remember from my previous toon if these unlock. And that YT video was crazy. O_o I was more amazed at how smooth it all was. God, I need to upgrade my video card... T_T
  11. Oh yeah, totally. I literally spent maybe... god, don't even know if I want to admit this, but maybe like... 6 hours doing Warzones and crafting? Occasionally, I'd stop doing warzones and just watch Netflix through my phone to pass the time, or que up Vette to craft some gear and then go grab some food. xD It's time consuming but I feel it was worth it. Plus, you unlock recipes that can sell for pretty decently on the AH, from my experience. And I do every quest. My OCD demands this from me. I've yet to buy anything from the AH. I usually get a piece of orange gear that looks good and then upgrade it through crafting and specialty vendors.
  12. I was like you, my dear OP. I played a tank and found that... tanking isn't my style, mostly because due to my low performance graphics card, managing an entire mob is easier said then done. It became frustrating and I felt like I wasn't playing at peak performance, so I decided to go DPS. I went with a Shadow, but again, due to lag (especially in warzones) from my graphics card, I didn't want a class that was so dependant on it's big damage coming from positioning. Fully fed up with the Republic quest line, I rolled a marauder and I'm happy to say that I have no intention of looking back. I don't see how people can QQ so much about this class, but perhaps it's just a high level PvP thing? I dunno. Last night I solo'd a Heroic that was two levels higher then me, and I've never played an MMO before. So I fail to see how this class needs a buff, at least in PvE. Keep your gear as close to top notch as possible. After I got to Fleet, I took Artifice, Archeology, and Treasure Hunting - all you need to craft lightsaber mods. And then sat in the Cantina and preceeded to get purple crystal, hilts, and enhancements for both sabers while doing Warzones solo for the credits. I'm now just facerolling through quests. I highly recommend giving this guide a read if you want to learn more, although at present, it only has a Carnage spec section, which is what I've decided to roll. Edit: As a side note, all I'm doing is this, when approaching elites... 1. Try to stack Fury off weaker mobs first to 30. 2. Target elite, active Cloak of Pain and Saber Ward and Berserk. 3. Charge, proceed to use free Vicious Slash until it's out. 4. The rest of the battle is done by keeping Carnage, Force Scream, Battering Assault and Retaliation on cool down, spamming the default attack to keep Rage up and build Fury, and whenever Berserk pops, spam Slash. Also reactiving CoP and SW whenever they're available. I can't really give a rotation because it's all based on how much Rage I have and when things pop. If it's a mob, or there's lesser baddies nearby, I'll throw Smash into the mix but don't target them directly, unless I feel it necessary. Also, while spamming the default attack, if I max rage, I'll use Slash instead, for obvious reasons. Someone will probably quote this and say I'm doing it wrong but, at the moment, this is working quite well.
  13. In my experience, most people simply ignore the game's quests IC. The real flesh and blood of the roleplay is done with the game's setting and other players. Involving NPCs and plot devices isn't practical, otherwise Darth Doughnut (never bothered to remember his actual name) would have about 1,000 apprentices, all of whom killed the same person... explain that one. No, the game's story and mechanics should be set entirely out of character when roleplaying. Edit: Considering that the default troop for each faction is a playable class, players should really be the only real army when roleplaying. Just pretty much ignore the NPCs, save for the occasional bartender and cantina dancer.
  14. Guild Name: Moon Tree RP Level: Medium - Heavy Faction: Republic Who to contact: Katka Website: Moon Tree About the guild: This guild was founded by Katka shortly after the game's launch and was formed primarily to create a guild that can help those in need in any way. In Character, the guild is lead by the Seven Council - a group of seven members, each overseeing a particular aspect of the guild. You can find this roster to the right under Information. These seven members may also appoint up to three captains to assist them. All other members serve simply as members of the guild and report directly to the council members, depending on what they're doing. Out Of Character, the guild is designed to help other players in any way that we can. This can be by helping people run Heroics, doing Warzones, even small give-aways and contests.
